INTRODUCTION
A profession or a job, done by an individual, is their career over a long period of their
life. A professional job is a career that requires significant amount of training, practice and
education. These individuals are known as professionals. Mace Group Ltd, renowned as Mace, is
both a construction as well as a consultancy firm(Chang and Daly, 2019). In this report, there is
an overview of the chosen organisation, i.e., Mace along with the roles and responsibilities of the
stakeholders. Further, moral and ethical responsibility of the organisation, importance of
leardership and governance in the organisation, importance of professional bodies, codes of
coduct, atleast one professional body that positively influences the organisation and professional
standards are also being discussed.
TASK
An overview of the organisation, the type of business and the area(s) in which it operates
including the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders.
As said above, Mace is a consultancy and construction firm, established in London,
United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1990 and have been incredibily successful. Mace
is an expert which help people in shaping the built environment and has expanded all over the
world.
Stakeholders are described as the people who have stake or interest in the
organisation(Fletcher Jr, Warren and Hernández-Gantes, 2018). Employees, investors, suppliers,
customers, etc., are different stakeholders having some specific stake within the organisation.
There are various roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders towards the organisation. Hence
some of the roles played by stakeholders of Mace are discussed below:
Investment – It is the prime duty of the stakeholders to invest in the organisation or bring
money within the organisation. Stakeholders are generally the prime investors of the
organisation and their decision to withraw or deposit money depends on the organisation's
financial status. Hence Mace's stakeholders must ask for finacial reports to determine the
financial performance of the company. Further the market conditions may be made
favourable by them by modifing their investment in the organisation.
Decision making – Stakeholders which forms a major part of the company's holdings are
the part of its Board of Directors. Therefore, they too have a right to take or help in taking

decisions for the organisation. Mace's stakeholders appoint the senior – level mangement.
It is the responsibility of the stakeholders to take part in all the major decisions, when
made, of the organisation.
Direct the management – As discussed above, Board of Directors can take stakeholders
as their part. Therefore, stakeholders can help in taking actions. Mace's stakeholders
direct the management over various departments such as research and development to
manage work in order to ensure success.
Corporate Conscience – As discussed above, major stakeholders have the right to take
part in the decisions taken for the organization. Large stakeholders are major stakeholders
who keep an eye on the activities of the company. It is the right and duty of the
stakeholders of Mace's Group to disrupt the decisions taken, if they harm the goals and
objectives of the organisation.
Discuss the moral and ethical responsibility of the organisation.
Every organisation have its own moral responsibilities and ethical values.Ethical
responsibilities ensures that the organization is working in a fair and ethical manner. The values
on which the whole working system of an organisation is dependant or standing on are its ethical
values(Main, Wang and Tan, 2022). It forms the base of every organisation. Whereas moral
responsibility is the status of morally deserving pros or cons in accordance with one's moral
obligation. Like every organisation, Mace has its own moral and ethical responsibilities and
some are discussed below:
Honesty – Executives of the organization should be honest towards the organization as
well as to their clients. Honesty is the prime ethical responsibility of the organization and
its employees. Now-a-days honesty is rare and fraud is everywhere. So it is the
responsibiility of the organisation not to break the trust of their clients. Mace tries to fulfil
this responsibility by hiring honest employees.
Law Abiding – Law abiding means following the laws of the society sincerily. it is the
responsibility of the organisation to abide by the provisions, prescribed by law stated in
the Companies or Partnership or any other Act as applicable. Mace follows the provisions
prescribed under the Companies Act as these are applicable to it. When the laws of the
society are being followed obediently by the company, it helps the company to gain the
trust of the public more easily and quickly.

Loyalty – When the organisations are loyal towards their clients, it helps the company to
retain their clients. Loyalty is a moral responsibility that organisations need to fulfil.
Mace is loyal towards its clients and it does not pass or share their information with
others while staying loyal with them.
Promise keeping and trustworthiness – For an organisation to be successful, it must
keep its words. Mace keeps its promise in order to retain trust of people and goodwill in
the market.
Discuss the importance of leadership and corporate governance in the organisation.
Leadership is the art of influencing or inspiring individuals to work effectively and may
involve other traits such as project mangement, goal setting, team building, etc. Thus, leadership
is a very important skill needed to run an organisation. Without leadership, it will be very
difficult to manage all the tasks in an effective and efficient manner(Heath, 2021). Good
leadership helps to develop the organizational culture. Everyone understands the vision and the
goals set are clearer to the employees. Group efforts and teamworks are essential for achieving
organizational goals or objectives. For such a co-ordination good leadership is quite essential.
Good leaders motivates their sub-ordinates and sets an example for them to follow. This promote
the growth of the company. Hence, leadership is the skill which maximise the efficiency of the
management.
Corporate Governance helps to create some rules for the determination of operations of a
company(Gunderson, 2021). Corporate governance is important for making a rise in the degree
of reasoning of mangement by introducing experienced, independent director to the Board. It is
also responsible for the smooth performance of the company. It also helps in eliminating the
waste from the company thereby reducing costs.
Highlight the importance of professional bodies and codes of conduct.
Professional bodies refers to the organization of individual members practising a
particular profession. Such organisations may set standards of professional competence(Marteel-
Parrish and Lipchock, 2018). Whereas code of conduct is the most common policy within an
organization which covers in its fold company's rules, regulations, responsibilities, expectations
that employees and clients may have while interacting with the company.
Mace is a professional body which consists of professionals from the field of consultancy
and construction(Babajide, 2019). Being a professional body, the organisation has some of the

best professionals as employees which is quite significant for the company. There are various
codes of conduct followed by Mace and its professionals which are of great importance as are
discussed below:
Mace's code of conduct provide greater transparency to their clients about how their
projects and data are handled. This is important for the organization to gain trust and
establish itself well in the market.
Advanced training and education of specific amount are the requirements for a
professional job. So the professional codes of conduct benefit the public as they build
confidence and faith in profession's trustworthiness.
Identify at least one relevant professional body which enhances the professionalism within the
organisation and discuss how this positively influences an organisation.
There are various professionals within the organization of Mace. This established
artchitect company of UK enhances professionalism by following some professional bodies such
as Architects Code of Conduct 2010 (ARB), Architects Act 1997, Building Act 1984,
Copyright Design and Patents Act 1988, etc. architect companies are compelled to follow these
acts and so Mace is. Let's discuss them in brief below:
Building Act 1984 – This act deals with the safety, welfare and convenience of people
living in or around buildings(Grutsch McKinney and et.al., 2019). Securing the health of
the people living near construction areas was the reason for the formation of this Act.
Mace's professionals follows this Act which helps them gain the trust and support of the
public. This act further lays down provisions which states conservation of fuel, water and
power. By complying to these provisions, Mace has build a good image of itself in the
market.
Data Protection Act 1998 – This act relates with the storing of people's personal data
securely. These can be stored on computers or in a paper filing. The objective of this Act
is to secure respect and maintain people's privacy(Craps, 2021). Mace has a separate
department for storing and maintaining the information of people. It is their duty to look
that the privacy of their clients are properly maintained. This helps the organisation to
maintain correct and updated information which helps the organization in every way.

Discuss how code of conduct and professional standards have been incorporated within the
organisation.
Code of Conduct prescribes certain rules and regulations, duties and responsibilities of a
particular person, group, department within an organisation(Santos and et.al., 2018). These codes
are designed for the architects to follow while the whole process of contruction of organizations
or any other structures. Professional standards are the quality maintained by the architects while
practicing and working. Individuals of a professional group must adhere to the set of ethics and
behaviours known as professional standards.
Architects Code of Conduct 2010 (ARB) – ARB Code of Conduct sets some standards
or requirements needed to be fulfilled. Professional job is career that requires significant
amount of training and education. ARB ensures that those qualifications, standards and
practice of architect are true and fair(Lent, 2018)(Halonen and Dunn, 2018). This
obviously have a positive impact on the organization. ARB help Mace lay down the
standard and practices of its architects and build trust of the public. This help Mace
maintain the quality of their work and establish itself in the market.
RIBA Code of Professional Conduct – RIBA Code of Professional Conduct promotes
professional good conduct and practice. It sets out certain professional standards and the
members are expected to stand out on them. RIBA Code of Conduct is based on certain
principles(Zhang, Grenwelge and Petcu, 2018). There are 3 principles which guide the
members of RIBA and they are – Integrity, Competence and relationships. Mace
professionals respect each others rights and interests. Further they improve their
knowledge and skill promoting healthy competition in the organization. This is what
RIBA Code of Conduct states.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that a profession or a job is a career that requires
significant amount of training and education. Thus professionals are quite knowledgeable and
trustworthy. Mace is a construction and consultancy company with architect professionals who

are required to follow certain code of conduct, ethics and professsional standards. Bringing
money, decision making, directing management, etc are the various duties performed by
stakeholders. Then comes the moral and ethical responsibilities of an organization towards its
employees, clients and the general public. Honesty, loyalty, promise keeping, trusworthinness,
etc., are some of the ethical duties of an organization. Leadership and corporate governance is
quite important for an organisation. Without them it would be difficult to manage the projects
and timely achievement of goals may not take place. Thus everything has its own role within the
organisation which have their own pros and cons.
