 They have a duty to make themselves familiar with and
comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies
and Procedures, carry out duties required by legislation
such as the Health and social care Act 2008 .

 Effective team working contributes significantly to safer
patient care.
 Surgical teams require leaders who understand the
clinical and personal needs of patients and will inspire
and manage the team to deliver those needs.
 Both technical and non-technical skills are required;
they are complementary.
