INTRODUCTION
It is essential for an individual to learn about academic skills which will help them to
develop their personal and professional life (Boşnak and Turhan, 2020). Presentation skill is
chosen for this report and this report will further include to identify the importance of
presentation skill, the ways to improve this skill and analyse the learning outcomes from the
selected source.
MAIN BODY
Importance of presentation skill
Presentation skills are those skills which are used to communicate effectively with
audience to represent the presentation in a right and correct way (Mardatillah and et. al., 2018). It
is very important for me to learn about this skills because it will help me to enhance my
personality. This skill will also help me in my professional life where I supposed to present my
self report as well as company's report in-front of various other employees of the organisation.
This will also help me to develop my critical thinking skill by analysing the unique way to
present my slides in front of others. This skill will further help me to enhance my communication
skill because presentation skill does not mean only to design slides effectively but it also means
to make audience to understand the content of slides easily. Hence, when I will give presentation
then I have to communicate with my audience which are focusing on my presentation and in case
they ask me any question regarding PPT then it is essential for me to answer them correctly.
Short summary of presentation skill
Almost any kind of business transaction involves some degree of presentation skill (Santi
Kasabdji, 2020). Presentation skill does not only include to make attractive slides of PPT but it
also include to communicate the main aim and objectives of slides to targeted audience in such a
manner which will help to grab their attention and make them understand it easily. According to
the chosen source, there are seven basic steps to deliver successful presentation and these steps
are mentioned below-
 Decide what you want to achieve- It is essential to clear the vision of making and
presentation and implement it in front of audience (Leinonen and et. al., 2018). Hence,
main this stage includes main objectives of the slides like the topic, which kind of content
should be included and who are the targeted audience. Analysing about targeted audience

will help to include only those contents which can easily grab their attention and make
them clear about the report or idea which is conveyed through presentation.
 Decide whether a formal presentation is the best way to achieve this objective- It is
also essential for me ton analyse whether the topic which is selected for presentation will
required to present formally or informally.
 Deciding the form of presentation- This is the another stage where I must analyse that
which form will best suitable for my presentation.
 Prepare a script- It is essential for me to prepare script in whatever form suits me the
best.
 Design and prepare- Another important stage is to design and prepare the slides
appropriately by including all useful information to make it easy and attractive for
audience. It is essential for my to use bullet points and and images to make my slides
more attractive.
 Rehearse- I should also focus on rehearsing the ways and techniques to communicate
with audience while presenting the presentation. I must rehearse first that where I should
use loud tone of voice and where I should use low tone of voice while presenting
presentation. I have learned that if I want my audience to focus on specific content then I
will use loud pitch and raise my volume to grab their attention to specific content where I
want to grab their attention.
 Do it- This is the last stage where plans and rehearsals are converted into reality.
Analyse how you can use the mentioned skill to improve your own skills - either now or in the
future
Presentation skill can be used to improve my various kinds of other skills like-
Goal oriented skill- While learning presentation skill I can develop my goal oriented
skill where I can learn about the ways to set targets and the actions to achieve those targets on
time. Hence, while analysing the purpose of the presentation in learning presentation skill I can
also learn goal oriented skill.
Research skill- This skill can be enhanced while learning presentation skill where I
supposed to analyse the needs and wants of targeted audience and then prepare my presentation
according to audience's preferences. This helps me to enhance my research skill where I collect
information, evaluate them and then use it to prepare my presentation.

Communication skill- Presentation skill also help me to enhance my communication
skill where I learned the ways and high and low pitch and tone of volume used while
communicating with audience. It is essential for me to listen what my targeted audience is asking
and answering them in a appropriate manner is essential for me. Hence, while giving
presentations in front of others and clearing their doubts, I can also focusing to improve my
communication skill.
Critical thinking skill- While using various images and sources for information I can
also improve my critical thinking skill. While making any presentation it is essential to focus the
content and creativity used to make it attractive. For example, in case I will present a business
report then I must use charts and graphs to show the growth of company. Therefore, my critical
thinking skill will be improve while learning presentation skill.
Evaluate what you have learnt from the chosen source
I have learned about effective presentation skill from the chosen source where I get to
know that communication is important in presenting any presentation. For example, if an
individual present any presentation for his business purpose then it is essential for him to interact
equally with the other employees of the meeting. Without equal communication with audience
the presentation will become boring and it can also reflect that audience is not interested in the
presentation (Sugiyarti, 2018). I have also learned from the chosen source that clearing the
purpose of the report is one of the most important aspect for the chosen skill. Analysing the
vision and mission of the presentation will help to be on track while presenting the report to
others. I have also learned from this source that body language also plays an important role for
the success of an presentation. According to this source, 55% of the presentation become
effective due to body language of presenter, 38% of the presentation become effective due to
tone of voice used by the presenter and 7% effectiveness of presentation comes from words used
by presenter (Bradbury, 2006). Facts and figures which is used in the presentation should be
correct and updated. I have also learned that analysing about audience and their communication
style will help the individual to give presentation in the same manner which will help them to
grab their attention. For example, if I get to know that the audience if extrovert and love to
interact while presentation then I will more focus on clearing their doubts and communicate
orally more.

CONCLUSION
From the above information it is concluded that presentation skill is one of the most
essential skill of academic as well as for professional life. It is essential for presentation skill to
communicate with targeted audience and make them understand the content and aim of
presentation. It is also concluded that with the help of presentation skill a individual can develop
many other skills like critical thinking skills, communication skills, research skills and many
others.
