Therefore, we would not be able to provide free maintenance. During the inspection, it was found that improper care and maintenance has resulted to the rotten cedar deck. The deck should have lasted for 25 to 40 years with proper maintenance. On the other hand, it was also found during the inspection that the deck was re- sanded and the concerned contractor did not apply the sealant. In this relation, we contacted Mr. Sam Sharma, the previous owner of Golden Reality, and came to know that 4 year ago a contractor was hired for renovating the board. However, the work was stopped halfway as Sam wanted to sell the building. Due to lack of proper maintenance, it was found that the posts were missing the top covers, which diverted the water from the posts and the board adjoining to the same. It has resulted to the degradation of the board. Therefore, we would not be able to provide you with the free renovation service pertaining to the fact that the degradation was the result of poor maintenance. The cost of repair would be around $4000 and our company will be providing you with 20% discount. On the other hand, Recon Services will issue a guarantee certificate if a maintenance contract costing $200/ year is provided to our company. In this relation, we will be providing you with a 10% discount for ensuring the goodwill. Therefore, we will not be able to perform the renovation service for free and there will be some added charges along with the maintenance contract for ensuring the sustainability of the cedar board.
