Primary health care for older people
In developing countries, the majority of older peoples will be
living. In these developing countries, preparations to face the
challenges of fast-aging societies are very less. Many chronic diseases
like diabetes, osteo-muscular conditions and hypertension may cause to
the older peoples (American Diabetes Association, 2015). Due to these
chronic diseases, preparations would be needed by the countries to
cope with the diseases occurring in older peoples. These diseases
require diseases prevention intervention and management strategies
for diseases to older peoples. For this, the World Health Organization
(WHO) acknowledges the role of primary health care in the
maintenance of health for older peoples.
This report will provide a discussion about the primary health
care of the aged peoples. It would be followed by the evaluation of the
way resources allocation and services that are provided using a primary
health care approach. After the above discussion, it would provide
discussion about the primary health care service delivery for older
people.
It is identified that the primary health care is an essential health
care which is mainly based on scientifically sound and socially effective
method that has the potential to reduce health issues in older people.
Moreover, such kind of approach can be used in the health care

systems in order to control health disorders faced by older people
(Barnett, et al., 2012). It has been provided through professionals
including nursing staff, general practitioners, and allied health. It
addresses the health related issue faced by the individuals and focus on
the physical, mental and social wellbeing of aged people. A recent study
identified that primary health care ensure individuals receive
comprehensive care and provide reliable intervention programs for
reducing health disorders faced by older people.
During this multidisciplinary management, including a patient-
centred approach and comprehensive approach has been used. It is
observed that primary health care also provide patient centered care to
the patients in order to understand their situations and monitor overall
wellbeing in an effective manner. For providing quality improvement
education has been provided to the patients (Hills, Hills, Robinson, &
Hungerford, 2019). For the treatment of older peoples, the health care
providers should include primary health care along with the social
intervention and evidence-based medical interventions.
Primary health care practitioners followed by nurses provide a
regular anxiety assessment in the aged peoples. It is observed that
while providing primary health care services nurses should focus on the
health disorders faced by older people and deliver intervention
programs as per the patient’s health (O'Donnell, et al., 2013). For
providing prevention of illness and promotion activities related to the
health, the cost has been described very low (Pond, & Regan, 2019).

Many diseases like cardiovascular diseases and diabetes may have an
illness caused due to unhealthy or misbalanced diet due to which many
consequences occur to the older peoples. For this primary health care
providers have been dealt with the consequences by providing nutrition
care to the older peoples.
They have been provided all the required nutrition to the patient
by providing a healthy diet daily. To remove the barriers in between the
nurses and the older patients, effective education services and
programs has been provided so that the care providers would be able to
deliver primary health care services to the older patients. In further
discussion, resource allocation and services provided using the primary
health care approaches would be discussed (Kouladjian, et al., 2016). It
would be followed by the critical discussion would be considered about
the primary health care service delivery for the older people.
The term resource allocate is defined as a process of distributing
sources related to the consumers and in the case of primary health
care, resource allocation process provide health care services to the
patients (Kitson, et al., 2013). To provide services or allocate resources
under the primary health care approach it is very important to focus is
on preventing health disorder and promoting health (Higginbottom,
Pillay, & Boadu, 2013). It is identified that health care providers are
one of the best ways for allocating effective resources and providing
services using a primary health care approach. Health care providers
are able to identify the risk factors associated with older people and
