INTRODUCTION Health and care organisation are having a proper set of regulations and according to this they have to provide care to patients (Green, Savin and Lu, 2013). This assignment is based on East & West Care Homes which is situated in London, they are providing care to vulnerable. It will describe procedures to protect by harm of patients and employees. After it, this reports will make it's focus on legislation and code of practice which are relevant to work in health and social care. Various theories will explain in this report of H&C organisation. At last it has a personal reflection on own responsibilities, contribution and recommendation on development. TASK 1 1.1 Use of principle of support in East and West Care Homes Principles are set of rules and regulations which provides a support to care persons which are working in the organisation. Patients and care workers are the community which is having a huge need support so it is essential for the management to provide a proper and appropriate care to them (Bridges and et. al., 2011). As East & West Care Homes are providing their support to vulnerable so it is essential for them to use a proper guide of principles. East and West organisation is having it's focus to provide a proper health care to each and every patients with out making any type of discrimination, so it shows that they have implemented Equality Act, 2010 in an appropriate manner by which they are providing a treatment and care to all of those persons which are having a need of special care and protection. They are using a proper pr9ocess to diagnose a disease to provide an appropriate needed treatment according to Mental Capacity Act 2005. 1.2 Procedures to protecting clients Protection is an essential element for clients and employees which are working in the organisation from any type of harm. It is essential for the management of East and West Care Homes to provide a proper protection to their patients (Fetters, Curry and Creswell, 2013). Harm can be divided in to theft, physical and mental abuse and any type of violence from vulnerable people. Organisation has recruited some employees to provide a protection to their disables patients but according to CQC report their care workers are committed in wrong full act. Organisation is having a proper procedure to provide protection to employees from mentally challenged people and they are taking them in a different ward from others and employees are 1
having safety kit to be protected from them. But according to CQC's inspector's report organisation is failed to provide a proper protection to their clients because their own employees are making theft of things of vulnerable. 1.3 Benefits of following a person centred approach Person centred approach was generated by the Carl Rogers and according to this approach, each and every client is having a their own need so it is essential for care homes to provide the same to that particular client. It has a huge benefits for patients because each and every patent is a case and they are having their own history (Druss and Mauer, 2010). By using this approach customers of health and care organisation can get the exact treatment from an expert and according to this approach it is the duty of the care person to analyse the whole history of client to determine a treatment to them. So East and West Care Homes has to use this approach and they have to provide customer centric treatment. This approach will provide benefits to those which are having a specific need, as an example a patient is unable to walk so health and care organisation has to provide wheelchair to them. 1.4 Ethical dilemmas and conflict in providing care As the East and West Care homes are providing their services to each and every type of patients without making a any type of discrimination so it is essential for them to maintain this anti discriminatory approach any how. Ethical dilemmas can be occurred in future in any type of discrimination because they are not having a proper management in the organisation so it is having a huge chance of happen in their future. It can be create a huge problems to them so it is essential for them to ensure all services which are providing like; food, accommodation are appropriate to all, to reduce the risk of any type of discrimination (Diakides, Bronzino and Peterson, 2012). Discrimination in between food providing can be a big issue in the organisation so it is essential for management to ensure to retain an equivalent quality in their food to reduce the risk of dilemmas in their future. 2
