Introduction:
Management Behavior is an approach towards creating systematic environment to promote and
maintain positive behavior leading towards opportunities. The supervision of behavioral
management tends to create a set of goodwill that eventually generates a good environment. The
improvement in managerial pattern involves some concepts and strategies. These strategies when
incorporate in the main sect then it come out as a whole effective approach towards management
behavior. Schmitt (2014) stated that Behavior is the actions of a person or group of people.
Behavior is influenced by many things like age, personality, interactions with others, culture,
home environment and gender.
Trump International Hotel and Tower, New York, United States is a hotel that is best
mentioned as a name of dedication and exceeding expectations of the customer. They are serving
their hospitality from 20 years. The paramount communication is one of the most engaging
things of the hotel. Travelport is the company which has redefined the travel management by
offering a comprehensive service. They provide fast service to their customers and business
travelers. These two industries one is related to the hotel industry and another is related to
travelling sector, have some distinct management style.
Task 1: Comprehend principles and practices of management behavior
Management behavior is a universal application. The systematic body of acknowledgement can
best define the management behavior. Through continuous observation and experiment the
change in management behavior becomes specific. The kind of experimentation (as in natural
sciences) cannot be accompanied in the area of management since management deals with the
human element by HartmannBoyce et al. (2014).
1.1 Comparison between non-identical management style:
The non-identical management style is the best practice in any organization in order to reinforce
the management criteria. The work ethics in any organization contributes towards the non-
identical management. The possibility of the perception, that the generation can bring the
difference is utterly wrong. Trump International Hotel and Tower, New York; it has a

management procedure where the work segregation is the most efficient thing. The management
style can be characterized as process oriented format. From lower to higher management
authority it has a certain number of people looking after their own job. The organization believes
that an individual can approach the task and can input in the productivity. The flexible work
culture and the non-identical management style bring newness and adoptability to the work
procedure. Here the employees do their own task, mange own pace and time and they get the job
done within a certain deadline. On-the other hand the Travelport industry in travel and tourism
believes in evidence to work with a group. Each group has one experienced person, looking after
the main peak of the management of that certain work. Then under him there are some other
colleagues who will work under his supervision and report their work to their respective
manager. So they believe that in this procedure their work culture gets maintained and along with
that they become loyal and intended towards their work. They value their relationship with their
co-worker and cultivate opportunities. Although the extent to which employees feel loyal
towards organization appears to differ across generations, factors likely to increase employees’
loyalty included for instance, opportunities for advancement and promotions, opportunities to
learn new skills and develop a challenging job, as well as better compensation such as higher
salaries or benefits as cited by Carlsson and Nilsson (2017).
1.2 Discussion about leadership features:
To raise the quality work of the organization the appropriate leadership feature is very important.
Trump International Hotel and Tower, New York believes that leadership is a position that can
be earned by the continuous work process and portraying a strong team management quality. It
also employ people who are all very enthusiastic and effective towards their work, so in future
they can carry a broad sense in leadership quality. Before becoming the working partner of their
company they trained all these leadership qualities to their employees and give valuable guide to
them. Personally the company believes that personal ethics always has an ethics in professional
conduct. Travelport, being in the travel industry value professional ethics in leadership, it thinks
that leaders should have an urge to learn things by it selves and the organization treats people
with that quality. Leaders can bring certain positivity and willingness to their work so the rest
can learn from him. They create effective leaders who can take easily any work, shape the future
and repeat the flexibility in any work. To understand the behavior and traits of a leader, one

needs to look at their innate characteristics. Most significant are energy level, physical stamina
and stress tolerance. High energy and stress tolerance help to deal with the fast pace and often
chaotic events of today's business by Brien and Topp (2016).
1.3 Estimation of communication process in selected business:
Communication is the very basic need of any organization and any individual a statement by
Garvey (2014) Effective communication is one of the most striking points to create a good
management flow. Working under a good management team has a first and foremost thing that is
an easy communication structure; Trump International Hotel and Tower incorporated the same
thing in their management procedure. They believe in subtracting all the barriers in the
communication, so the industry can achieve higher perspective in their field. From the higher
management to the underneath all should follow one communication channel so the management
gets to know every details of the work happening in the organization. Travelport, participate in
the communication as the main part of management process. They believe that every employee
should participate in the communication to make the work easier. As communication is a learned
style, here in Travelport it enhances that strategy more effectively. Dealing with the hospitality
management, they teach their employee the “communicator attitude’’, so the body language
become more welcoming. The “selection of meaningful symbol’’ depending on the right
environment and audience also has a strong influence and significance to serve the customer.
1.4 Examining organizational culture and reform in selected business:
In this industry, the undertaken companies strongly work on the organization’s performance to
effectively enhance the service. They believe that culture has a strong reference towards explicit
performance. The managers pay attention to the major planning happening in the organization
and particularly on the culture, to exhibit a natural work environment in future. To shape the
organization’s all practice as a service provider Travelport works on building the positivity of the
team and believe in a deep rooted aspects of culture. Here they strongly agree upon creating a
strong environment in relevant area to increase the performance of the employee. Leadership is
clearly important in determining the effectiveness of culture change. The leaders of organizations
are ‘champions’ of understanding and managing culture in the organization and of rewarding or

punishing subcultures depending on whether they align or not with the corporate culture
espoused by the leaders as quoted by Naranjo-Valencia et al. (2016). The effective
communication in the business would be there when the effective communication are done
among the employees of the business organization. Communication is the major aspects, which
the business organization has to concern about, and the better communication would lead to
better work processes. The leadership from the effective manager would lead to the effective
cultural development.
Task 2: Review of own potential as a prospective manager in Dorchester
Luxury Hotel in London
2.1 Assessment of own managerial skills and performance:
The managerial skills and performance reveal capability of a manager to coordinate the entire
process in the company. In this context, Scott (2013) stated that managers in a hospitality
industry have a major contribution to its profitability as the major decisions rely on the
knowledge and skills of the manager. Being a manager of Dorchester Luxury Hotel, My
performance has been consistent a little due to the ongoing financial condition of the hotel.
Therefore, my performance as a manger of the hotel is quite satisfactory due to the outcomes
from its proper execution. In that case, creativity and innovation is my prime feature where my
key target is to conduct consistent improvement of the existing process and hotel services to
enrich value for money. In the opinion of Wihler et al. (2014), communication is a crucial
characteristic in manager to motivate the staffs for better commitment and dedication. In other
words, communication assists to track the process and gather the requirements in future.
Following that statement, I always try to communicate with my teams to gather the ongoing
information and identify the issues developed. Moreover, the solution of the identified issues is
only possible through communicating with the other staffs based on their knowledge and skills. I
often plan for the next operational phase to find out the way of executing the plan with an
effective coordination of the existing team. However, some of the plans have failed due to some
uncertainty and lack of proper forecasting. In that case, I might failed to accumulate most
potential option to solve the problems.

2.2 Analysis of personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats:
Strengths:
The key strength being a manager is my communication skill that is generally used in interaction
with the staffs of the hotel. In that case, I believe in two-way communication process where I am
also liable to listen to my staffs for any further suggestions and the exploration of actual reason.
Moreover, my other strength that has gained an appreciation from the director and my peers is
my honesty. I like to perform my own tasks with ethics and honesty to create a good image and
perform my own tasks efficiently. I am consistent in performing tasks and accomplishing the
responsibilities I have accepted. In this context, Saafein and Shaykhian (2014) cited that honesty
and consistency makes the managers trustworthy and thus, the company would offer major and
important responsibilities to the manager to reach at the company goals and objectives.
Weaknesses:
Unlike the strengths as mentioned above, I have been unable to balance my professional and
personal life due to excessive workload and ample number of responsibilities to attain the goals
of the hotel. On the other hand, the major weakness in my characteristics is lack of patience
where I often lost my patience in case of excessive pressure and non-performing tasks as
allocated. In that case, Stocker et al. (2014) stated that patience is another crucial characteristic
in a manger to manage the time schedule of the entire business operation and supervise the
performance of the other staffs in depth. Thus, such weaknesses would hinder my career growth
in future in presence of more workload would be assigned from the higher authority.
Furthermore, being creative and honest in nature I would like perform in my own way which
may sometimes be hindered due to strict and set of instructions from the higher authority.
Opportunities:
In the era of rapid growing hospitality sector, I would have some opportunity to flourish my
knowledge and skills in other organizations with better working environment. Apart from the
shift, there would have some scope of recovering my weaknesses in my current organization
through proper utilization of my skills and core competency. In this context, Flanagan et al.
(2016) observed that delegation of the task is an effective way of performing the allocated tasks
where the selection of the team members needs to be on performance. In that case, the staffs in

Dorchester Luxury Hotel would be promoted at the executive or upper executive level to assist
me in my all area of responsibilities. This would help me in delivering the best services while
having scope of incorporating further features and innovations in existing services.
Threats:
Key threat that I have been struggling in my current position is non-cooperation of my peer to
proceed with my planning and activities. Therefore, in line with the opinion of Boon and Beger
(2016), such workplace hazard would hinder my process of further growth in the hotel services
and self development. Under the rapid growth of hotel industry, the level of competition has
attained a drastic growth. Furthermore, integration of technology would create a severe threat for
my further career growth in the presence of advanced managerial courses surrounding the
industry. Therefore, there are ample numbers of applicants for this manager post to replace my
position in the hotel.
2.3 Development and prioritization of objectives to generate own potential:
Following are the objectives that I could conduct to develop my potential through prioritizing
and scheduling the entire skill development planning.
Specific Development of the technical knowledge and skills through joining
advanced courses
Weekly grooming classes would be beneficial to enhance my patience
and skill of proper action scheduling
Time management process would be another option to recover my
weakness of poor estimation and forecasting for better scheduling the
tasks.
Measurable Feedback from my peers and appreciation from higher authority would
be potential measure to judge the extent of my success
Meeting deadline of my responsibility would better measure my
objectives of potentiality improvements
Use of technology like computer based database and accounting in the
hotel would measure my learning of the modern business operations.

Achievable In presence of various institutes in the country the learning of modern
technology would be feasible
Continuous interaction with the people will also improve my
communication and patience for further skill improvement.
Realistic Global industries are going more virtual than physical
Business operational are being shifted to the technical platform from the
manual process
Faster operational outcomes need proper integration of knowledge and
technology to improve quality of business outcomes.
Time bound Being involved in a busy schedule, the development would take significant time
to recover my drawback. However, the time of the entire process would be
estimated to be 6 months from the day of initiative.
Task 3: Capability of showing the managerial skills within business and
service context
3.1 Leading and motivating a team to achieve goals and objectives:
Motivation is required to be considered as the most important part of leadership in order to
achieve organizational goals. In service related industries, the leaders are required to motivate
the team members to enhance the quality of services. In this context, the researcher is required to
mention that the leader of the new restaurant in Covent Garden, London is to use the leadership
skills as to achieve the goal of providing sophisticated service to the customers of the restaurant.
Taber and Klein (2016) opined that team leaders are to consider the decentralization approach of
leadership in order to increase the involvement of the team members. On the other hand, Evans
et al. (2015) argued that leaders are required to build up a “servant-leader” relationship to
enhance the leadership quality among the organization. Therefore, the researcher is required to
mention that the leader of the restaurant in Covent Garden, London is to consider both the
approaches in order to achieve the organizational goals.
8 | P a g e
Document Page
The leader of the restaurant is to set long term goals in the initial level by making discussion with
the famous Chef Jamie Oliver, the owner of the restaurant. In this context, it is to mention that
long term goal setting is one of the most crucial aspects of creating vision of an organization
(Han et al. 2014). Therefore, the leader of the restaurant is to make proper vision statement and
mission as a part of long term planning. After building the long term planning, the leader of the
restaurant is required to transfer the long term plantings to the staffs of the restaurant to
implement the plans. The techniques that the leader of the restaurant is required to consider are
as follow.
Effective communication process within the organization:
The leader of the restaurant is required to make effective communication with the employees of
the restaurant in order to motivate the employees. As cited by Sierra et al. (2015), lack in
communication or communication gap creates lack in understanding of the objectives of an
organization and therefore, the leaders could not make the employees understand about the plans.
In this context, the researcher is to mention that the lack in understanding of the plans and
objectives results in detachment from the main flow of organization. The leaders of an
organization could not motivate the employees without proper involvement of staffs. Therefore,
the leader of the restaurant in Covent Garden, London is to make effective communication to
enhance the opportunity of motivating the employees.
Expansion of comfort zone of employees:
Employees are to be considered as an asset of the organization, as the wealth creation depends on
the involvement of the employees (Patton and McMahon, 2014). In this context, the researcher is
required to mention that the leader of the restaurant in Covent Garden, London is to create
comfort zone within the organization. Enhancement of involvement of the team members
through the informal relation could be considered as effective in case of the leader of the
restaurant as the organizational structure is simple.
Dignity and respect to the team members:

As cited by Akkermans et al. (2015), employees or the team members expects proper respect and
dignity and therefore, the team leader of the restaurant is required to maintain the formal
relationship with staffs to enhance the level of motivation.
Form the above discussions; it could be found that the leader of restaurant in Covent Garden,
London is required to motivate the employees by considering the formal tools and the informal
tools of motivation. Moreover, as the organizational structure of the firm is simple, informal
motivational activities could be considered as effective for the leader.
3.2 Justification of managerial decisions supporting agreed goals and
recommendations for improvements:
In the above discussion made by the researcher, leader of the restaurant is required to build up
sustainable motivational approaches to enhance the level of involvement of the employees in an
organization. In this context, the researcher is required to mention that the management of the
organization requires setting a long term objective in order to help the leader of the organization
to make communication with the members. In this context, if the researcher is required to justify
the managerial decision, the researcher is required to mention that the objectives of the
organization has been developed by considering the human resource management approaches.
On the other hand, the goals are considered as measurable in nature therefore, the researcher is to
mention that the progress towards the achievement of goals could be measured by the
management of the restaurant.
The researcher is to recommend the management to enhance the motivational skills in the
organization in order to improve the involvement of the employees in the organization. On the
other hand, the researcher is also required to mention that the management is to focus on the
VEBEs. Moreover, it is also required to mention that the comparison of personal set of VEBEs
within the organization levels could also be taken as effective for the management and leaders of
an organization. In the case study of restaurant in Covent Garden, London, it has been seen that
the emotive behaviors model is required to be applied as a large number of people is to be
involved in the venture. Moreover, the researcher is to recommend that the rational emotive
behavior model is effective in order to enhance the quality of service of the restaurant. On the
other hand, the researcher is required to mention that the individuality and the family culture are

also to be considered as important aspects for the purpose of developing the skills of the
employees in the organization. Moreover, the researcher is to suggest the management of the
company to encourage the creativity of the employees. Decentralization of power is also required
to be made in order to empower the employees in the organizational level.
Task 4: Career development plan for the employment within a business
context1000
4.1 Explanation of the use of own managerial and personal skills in career
development:
In business firms, the employees are to be retained to get the utility of the knowledge, which has
been acquired while in work. In this context, the researcher is to mention that the controlling
process is to be identified as the most relevant knowledge of management, as the organizational
plans could only be managed by controlling. As stated by Hadidi et al. (2015), managerial and
personal skills could only be utilized by considering the personal traits and skills. The career
development programs are therefore to be considered as crucial for developing the skills of the
employees in the management.
If the discussion is to be made on the use of the professional knowledge for the purpose of
developing skills in an organization, the researcher is required to mention that the professional
are assumed to have more skills as compared to the fresh candidates. Moreover, he researcher is
required to mention that the personal skills could be beneficial after having experience in the
professional field. In this context, the researcher is also required to mention that the planning and
organizing is required to be done by the experienced staffs in the management process. The
career development process is to be identified as a way of skill development for the staffs in an
organization.
Supervision and staffing is to be considered as an activity of experienced staffs in the businesses
like tourism, travel, sports, and recreation industries. In case of tourism industry, the experience
is considered as one of the most important factors as this industry belongs to high risk category.
On the other hand, the researcher is to mention that the sports industry needs skills in order to
11 | P a g e
Document Page
add quality in the work. Fresh skills are appreciated in this industry and therefore, to manage the
companies in the sports industry, experience is not considered as mandatory. Furthermore, it is is
also to mention that the recreation industry is an important sector for developing career in
manufacturing and production. Therefore, employees with technical knowledge are considered as
important for this industry.
The experienced staffs are required to train the fresh staffs in order to enhance the career and
skills of the fresh staffs. As stated by Zukauskas and Vveinhardt (2015), training while working
is an effective idea, which enhances the skills of the workers in the workplace. Furthermore, the
fresh candidates are required to have appropriate personal traits in order to achieve the
organizational skills. Performance evaluation is considered as an important aspect of controlling
and therefore, the superior management is required to adopt suitable performance evaluation in
order to control the idle time and fatigue in the production level. The management of an
organization is to use the effective communication tools to minimize the conflict due to
miscommunication in the organization level.
4.2 Review of the career and personal development needs, current
performance and future needs to produce development plan:
My personal and profession needs comprise of the financial and non-financial benefits against
the commitments and contribution towards achieving the goals of the business. As mentioned
above that the current performance in the company has attained a consistency with effective
application of knowledge and skills in the allocated responsibilities. In the context of current
professional and personal pitfalls, non-cooperation from the peers and other staffs would enforce
to shift on the other options available in the same region in presence of intense completion. In
this context, Pástor et al. (2015) stated that future needs influence the managers and other staffs
in the company to improve the current knowledge and skills to serve for better outcomes and
appreciation. Therefore, the current performance would reveal the necessity of the technical
knowledge and integration of the same with existing process to enrich the career and personal
development aligning the same with appropriate way of attaining it. The development plans for
the plan are essential for the effective growth in the carrier. Effective collaboration of the
employes and better performance within the business organization would lead to the better

growth in the carrier and hence the internal growth within the carrier is possible. Current
performance in the organization must comply with the better performance in order to secure
future growth in the employee’s carrier.
Conclusions:
Based on the above discussion, it is clear that the development of a manager is a combination of
capability, interest of development and scope of improving existing knowledge and skills.
Therefore, a good manager needs to have initiative to be updated accordingly. In the current era
of high end technical operation, managers of hospitality industries are required to be multi-
tasking individuals having efficient time management plan and good communicator. On the other
hand and appearance and approach of the same towards the other staffs as well as the customers,
needs to be appreciable to make the instructions and planning executed properly.
