INTRODUCTION
Health and social care practices can be defined as process or activities that are undertaken
by the healthcare professional in order to treat ill health and medical condition in hospital and
health centres. Social care is support that is provided by healthcare professional to vulnerable
individual residing within the community. There are five principles in which standard of practice
in health and social care are build such as dignity and respect, compassion, responsive care and
support and wellbeing. This essay has depicted crucial information pertaining to the importance
of principles of care, the way principles of care affect the rights of vulnerable people and the
issues of care and control in health and social care. Last it has discussed about the importance of
legislation in the protection of vulnerable people in health and social care.
Importance of principle care
Principles of care is generally based on idea of human right as each and every individual
have right to get better care and support to live life as other people within the society. It defined
the manner in which health, social care and support are being provided to individual for their
effective treatment. Care workers get to know about the client and have empathy with its team,
hence the main motivate is to improve the quality of life of patient. The principle of care is to
support worker or individual that are facing health issue so that they can life a better life ahead.
Therefore, the different reason which states importance of principle of care can be discussed in
detailed as follows: caring is more important for patient as compared to medicine provided for
better lifestyle (Moudatsou and et,.al., 2020). Patient feel more vulnerable and stressful while
they are being ill so when nurses and healthcare professional provide treatment to them with
respect contribute in improving their overall health and well being. Nurses and healthcare
through laying their efforts in understanding the pain bear by patient, respecting and offering
necessary resources are able to improve the health condition of individual (Boudou, 2021).
Furthermore, caring is ranging from small talk to actively listening about the worriers or issue
that has been faced by the patient due to its health problem. Hence it contributes in building
strong relationship with the patient and effectively understanding of the issue that it is facing in
its daily life.
The first and foremost reason is that it helps with the healing process that can be done
through different ways such as by talking with individual or provides it physical support. Nurses

by offering compassion and empathy towards the patient are able to provide personalised care for
overall improvement in the health of individual. Moreover, following principle of care by
healthcare professional and nurse also contribute in maintaining equality among all the
individual in offering proper care (Charlesworth and Johnson, 2018). Thus whether the
individual is from rich or poor background has equal access to healthcare services that lead in
improving their health to maximum extend. It also helps in maintaining the confidentiality of the
personal information of the patient hence it cannot be used for unnecessary purpose by any of the
individual. The healthcare professional also take steps to ensure patient safety and security
information thus it lead in its overall development.
In addition to this, the principle of care is important because it lead in encouraging
patient to actively participate in the decision making process so that right decision can be taken
to provide its treatment and improve its health condition. Likewise through following the
principle it is able to effective communicate with patient ask its suggestion related to alternative
treatment option that could be provide to it for better outcome (Nyashanu, Pfende and
Ekpenyong, 2020). Hence, in short principle of care are important to be followed by healthcare
professional as it lead in maintaining good relationship among patient and healthcare
professional.
The way the principles of care affect the rights of vulnerable people
Principle of care affects the right of vulnerable people as it encourages caregivers to take
person centred approach to safeguard adults. When the healthcare follows the principle it put
vulnerable person well being and needs at forefront of safeguarding process. It helps in directly
involving with the vulnerable people and providing them services that are necessary for making
improvement in their overall health and well being. There are different principle of care such as
empowerment- that is supporting the vulnerable individual for developing a sense of confidence
among them to take their own decision and provide informed consent related to their care
(Maguire and et,.al., 2018). Likewise, for empowering vulnerable people, healthcare professional
provide information in straightforward manner, ask relative question with the patient about its
health and well being in order to make changes in existing care plan. Thus it provide right to
vulnerable people to live their life as other people by performing its task in effectively manner
through having access to resources.

Along with that the protection is another principle of care that affects rights of vulnerable
people as it provides them clear information pertaining to the manner in which they have to
recognise the sign of being abuse and neglect. So, that they can approach for help in any of the
circumstances and immediate actions can be taken to improve its health. It helps them in know
the manner in which they have to contact the appropriate authorities and abided to suitable
procedure to effectively handle the situation. Moreover, prevention is also one of the principle of
care in which necessary step has to be undertaken by healthcare to prevent vulnerable person
being abuse and neglect by people in physical or mental terms (Walshe and et.al., 2018).
Therefore, it helps in protecting vulnerable adults to reduce its impact or long-term harm.
Likewise, the best way to promote prevention is safeguarding training that is providing the
patient training related to the manner in which they have to handle a particular situation. In
addition to this, proportionality is also one of the principles that imply that proportionately
support must be provided to individual such as encouraged them to actively take part in decision
making related to specific treatment provided to them (van and et,.al., 2019). Thus it helps in
gathering information related to what actions, or though going in their mind and has least impact
on their quality of life.
Partnership is also principle of care which specify that both local services and
communities must make partnership with each other’s prevent, detect as well as report cases
pertaining to individual that are being neglect and abuse. At the same time, accountability
principle has to be abided by healthcare professional while providing care to vulnerable
individual so that they have clear access to information. Likewise, the health professional should
be transparent while sharing all information pertaining to the health condition of the patient so
that it can take right decision (Pearson and Watson, 2018). Communication should be in such a
manner that the vulnerable individuals are able to identify their respective role in care plan that
will lead in better outcome.
Issue of care and control in health and social care by making use of example as discussed
in class
Care and control are two key components within health and social care that helps in
ensuring that proper care has been provided to the individual so that it can have good health and
well being. Control is taking steps to control the practice pertaining to the health and social care

so that all individual have equal access to resources. For example: first issue of care and control
is that limited availability of resource and money to provide appropriate care and support to the
patient so that it can easily overcome from the health issue. Furthermore, a lack of information
and advice to enable people to make choices is also challenge pertaining to provide better care
and support to individual for improvement in its overall health condition (Johnson and Lindquist,
2020). As there are many individual that does not have clear detailed about the positive and
negative impact of particular treatment on body of specific individual which lead in selecting
wrong intervention for the treatment. At the same time, people do not have sufficient money to
get access to quality healthcare facilities that lead in challenges in getting proper care and
treatment. Hence, the lack of resources or capital also lead issue for the organisation to take steps
to control the activities or set of action pertaining to health and social care in order to offer
maximum benefits to people (Buse, Martin and Nettleton, 2018).
The demand of health and social care is increasing at rapid stage with increase in number
of diseases and vulnerable people within the society, but there are limited health and social care
that are able to provide necessary services for benefits of individual. Moreover, the growth of
medical and pharmaceutical costs has impacts on the access and quality of care provided to the
individual. While, there are limited number of people that have more money which they could
spend on having good healthcare facilities or social support to live a better lifestyles. For
examples: There are around 1.5 million people in England that are being suffering from certain
issue in their day to day life, but are not being provided necessary support required for their
health and well being (Campbell and Shore-Sheppard, 2020). Despite of increasing demand,
there has been less spend by government on improving or control the health and social care that
has lead challenges in providing proper treatment. Along with it, another example is that limited
number of people having knowledge related to the way live a better life that has cause issue for
health and social care to provide effective treatment to them. Lack of transparency or clear
exchange of information from one individual to another has also lead in challenges pertaining to
motivating individual to take right decision to select a particular treatment method in order to
improve overall health.
Importance of legislations in protection of vulnerable people within health and social care
Importance of legislations in protection of vulnerable people within health and social care
can be analysed as widely essential, as establishing legislations enhances protection to be

diversified within vulnerable people within health and social care scenarios. Within health and
social care scenarios, vulnerable people have to be given specific care regarding getting equal
treatments and effective medical policies. There is also specific focus evolved to wards providing
legislative care and protection to rights of vulnerable people, based on specific car standards.

enhances working vision and primitive timely availability of best scale health services. By
providing best scale within protection of equal rights, vulnerable people are able to further get

opens up scope for vulnerable people, to get equal medical treatments, diversified strengthened
facilities and engagement towards optimum standards. It further signifies best scale expansion,
consistent quest to be worked on for longer scale working productive growth engaged on for
longer time engagement. Legislations, further advances up scope for maintaining diverse range
healthcare services for all patients within efficacy parameters and diversely integrates best
legislative measures to be worked on productively. Patients under vulnerable community are able
to be specifically get equal treatments, and medical services for extensive scale competencies
and performance expansion fundamentally. Also maintaining equal healthcare and working
scenarios, further opens up scope towards functional growth and larger technical productivity
towards legislations enhancement. This further also opens up scope for wider working
engagement and medical services to be taken care of, for wider technical productivity. It can be
also analysed that vulnerable people need to be given equal rights and consistent productive

From the report it can be concluded that principle of care are important because they
helps in maintaining quality of care being provided to the individual for their overall health and
well being. Furthermore, the principles of care affect the rights of vulnerable people as they
helps in making them empowered, protect, prevent them from being harm and accountably
performed all the respective duties to improve the health of vulnerable individual living within
the society. At last the report summarised that legislation plays important role in the protection of
