INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is the complex system that provides medication and care treatment
to ill people in the hospital or in the society while social care is the process of offering care and
support to vulnerable people and community as well. Health and social care are important for
influencing and maintaining quality of health, preventing and rooting out disease from human
being body, decreasing disability and premature deaths and gaining high health equity. While
social care provides financial and care support to the people to make them more dependent so
that they can redeem their life effectively. To understand role of social care and health care has
an example of NHS. It is publicly funded healthcare system which offers it’s services across the
UK. The brief study provides understanding about principles of supports which are applied to
ensure that individuals gets care in health and social care practice.
Task 1
Principles of support apply to ensure that individuals are cared in health and social care practice
According to the case scenario of Alice who is 89-year-old, live with her three-adult child
in her own house. She takes support of health care due to her personal issues like health, heart
disease. She wants to take support form social care as well because her one adult child Mark, has
mental illness that causes her son nature was too violent and aggressive type (Al-Ramahi, Liu
and El-Gayar, 2017). Generally, Mark does not live with Alice but most of the days he like to
spend with her in her house. He controls Alice’s life like denies to let visitors in or not to let her
answer on the phone calls. Due to the nature of Mark have to face more hardship by Alice. Mark
also has refused to receive care from local authority. Later on, she visits social workers to ask
about Mark’s mental condition. Alice also has health illness i.e. dialysis, TB and kindly failing
so she gets pharmaceutical compliance support (6-month course) at home from the numerous
NHS agencies. Due to these consequences she has been felt depressed then her social workers
suggest to visit NHS psychologist and her social workers understand her condition and
requirement of body influences with age and ability. So, social workers give additional

innervation to secure Alice’s life and agreement to involve in family group conference. These are
some principles of health and social care that are applied to improve care of individuals.
Promote health
The main goal of the care giver is to offer high quality care service to people as result
improves life expectation in them. However, it is primary duty of care givers are to be proactive
and practices every possible initiatives of health improvements which benefits individual’s life.
Respect for privacy and self-esteem
The caregivers have to ensure that privacy of individual is valued whole time and they
can live their life with dignity in the society. This principles practices by whole staff of social
and health care by keeping day to day activities and updates them about their health condition
instead of irritating on them (Anderson, 2019).
Encouraging independence
The old aged people need social affection but wants that they treat as independent person
like others in the home. Whereas health care system supports old aged people by making
schedule of exercise and medicine and food eating. It helps old aged people to live their life by
own rules in rest of the time as result make them feel more independent.
Risk taking responsibilities
The health care givers do not demotivate old aged people at their own house from doing
activities which can involve in risk as well. So, health care keeps great care service that avoid
any harm while performing activities through individuals.
The procedure for protecting Alice, her children and NHS care staff from harm in health and
social care
The primary responsibility of caregivers is to offers health and safety of old aged people like
Alice. The procedure means that caregivers adapts different type practices that prevents older
aged people from any undesirable or unexpected situations are described as follows:
Supporting health care needs

It is essential responsibility of care givers that they must offer to individuals (Alice) who
suffers from old age-related issues like dialysis, TB and kidney failure and on formulary
compliance. In that situation, caregivers must provide proper care to assure that individuals take
medicine at on time and regularly. For example, Alice who suffers from various health issues,
takes medicines from 6 months an takes 6 tablets in a day. Whereas caregivers gives her service
at home because she lives alone.
Risk assessment
Health and social care provide health and safety policy to staff as well as patient so that
individuals can perform their duties effectively. For example, Mark is the adult son of Alice who
suffers from mental issues and has aggressive nature as result he often irritates on Alice
(Burgess-Pinto and et.al., 2019). To resolve this issue provides health security policy by the NHS
staff to the Alice. Caregivers also involves Alice and her sons in family conference group based
on agreement.
Personalised care service
The older aged people need personal care for regular grooming when they live alone at
home. Then it is responsibility of the caregiver to look after that they take a balanced and
nutrient diet or not. For example, Alice is old aged patient who lives alone at home without her
adult child so caregivers give her proper medication and care services to her so that improves
wellbeing of health.
All above mention procedure of NHS staff are used to guide and ignore all abuses and breach of
confidentiality which causes herm to NHS staff and Alice and her children’s.
Benefits of person-centred approach with users of health ad social care services
Person-centred care approach is the method to give specific care that requires by old aged
people. The caregivers of person-centred care are highly skilled and more flexible as well as
possess problem solving skill which supports to meet them from individual’s needs. Alice is old
aged person who suffers from health issues with child’s stress (Currie, 2019). Whereas person-
cantered care would help her to resolve their health and mental stress. For example, caregivers
give her personal care services at her home because she unable to go anywhere. She suffers from

dialysis and kidney failure disease and tense for her adult son behaviour. In that situation if she
gets personal-centred care service whereas caregivers would make them more self-motivated and
make them feel happy as she wants. Due to Mark have to make distance with society that makes
her more depressed, in that situation, personal caregivers would help to change her lifestyle
towards positive direction as result would reduce tension and maintains her wellbeing in the
home. Person cantered approach would help her to develop positive, healthy and beneficial
environment in her home that atmosphere would help Alice to live her life calmly.
Ethical Dilemma and conflicts that arise while providing care, support and protection to Alice
Healthcare service providers often faces ethical dilemma and conflicts while offering
care, support and protection to old aged people in the health and social care. The key task of
health providers is to care of old aged people in the context of biological level of functioning but
most of the time it become impracticable for them (Davern and et.al., 2017). For example, Alice
has personal health issues for which she receives medical support from the NHS agencies.
Currently she receives dialysis treatment in her own home as result fails kidneys. The reason
behind is that she has been treated with TB because she has been taken six-month medication
course and she takes 6 medicine in a day. Then health care providers have to face ethical
dilemma because they cannot ignore her to give dialysis treatment while they knew that she has
been taken six-month tablet course for diagnosing TB as resulted failure kidneys.
Implementation of policies, legislation, regulation and codes of practice that relates to health and
social care
Health and social care support old stage people to improve life of respect and dignity.
Most of the cases happen that old aged people leaves by their families because of their physical
disabilities and financial liability. In that situation social care supports these old aged people by
offering health and care needs. To help these type peoples provides care home and governs by
separate code of conduct, legislation and ethics which has mentioned by governmental laws.
NHS continuously assess it’s legislations, policies, regulation and codes of practice that ensure
individuals about care services. NHS’s staff uses safety laws in their practice while offering
health care services to the old aged people because they are quite sensitive for drug interaction
and others. Whereas NHS take into consideration rules in respect of incident so that they are not
claimed by other person about unsafe practices (Gilster, Boltz and Dalessandro, 2018). The Care

Standard Act 2000 is the code of ethics that practices by NHS. According to the act health
professional must keep safety practice and patient’s consent form in term of health records,
information security management and others so that individuals and their family gets realistic
information about their disease or health issue. Promote equality and diversity in the workplace
has follows equality and diversity by NHS. It ensures health professionals and care givers that
they are treated equally and keeps transparency in decision-making process. Thus, NHS practices
all legislation, codes and policies in the healthcare system.
Local policies and procedures to develop in accordance with national and policy requirement
UK legislation and laws guides the health and social care organization like NHS in all the
place while policy and procedures are different from individuals needs. Policy and procedures
are generated in health and social care to align with policy requirement so that best care offers to
individuals on the basis their personal condition. The policy and procedures are designed to meet
national policy requirement. Health and safety policy are the main policy that offers by health
and social care organization to the patient so that they can live their life safely and redeem staff
behaviour for them. This policy directs health professionals to take safety practice while offering
services to individual (Glasby, 2017). This policy is designed to maintain individual’s wellbeing
and comply national requirements. Old aged people have right to live high quality, deses free life
whereas care homes or health and social care organization responsible for fulfilling basic need
and requirement of aged people to assure that they do not have any dependence on others to live
quality of life. It is another national policy requirement that fulfil by health organization by
offering high quality care to old aged people.
Impact of policy, legislation, regulation and codes of practices on organizational policy and
procedures
Legislation and codes of practices works together in the health and social care
organization while designing policy and implements in the workplace to give best quality
services to individual. There are various national legislation and codes of practices such as health
and safety Act, Quality Care Act and equality and diversity Act etc. designs to maintain
wellbeing of health professionals and customers and eliminates any type of discrimination in the
job place. These policy, legislation and codes of practices impacts on organization’s policy and
procedures. For example, Equality and diversity Act helps staff member to take action against

discrimination and empowers them in the workplace (Jones, Gouge and Crilley2017). While
organization designs anti-discrimination policy to improve employee wellbeing and reduce
discrimination of senior authorities. This policy impacts by equality and diversity act positively
because it easy to meet national requirement and gets chance to improve diversity in the
workplace. As same quality care act impacts on organization’s procedure positively such as it
recruits skilful health professionals who can offer value-based care service to the people as per
their situation. Thus, national policies and legislation gives positive impact on organization’s
policy (Harper and Dickson, 2019).
Conclusion & Recommendation
It has provided understanding about five principles of social and health care such as
dignity & respect, compassion, responsive care, support and wellbeing. These principles
supported health and social care professionals to make their practices more effective and
improved quality of people’s life. Legislation, policy and codes of practices of national policy on
organization’s practice and procedure has been summarized in report.
To improve quality of care must use 360 feedback strategy by the health and social care
organization because it helps analyses health care provider performance in the workplace as well
as maintain customers wellbeing from organization’s care services.
Task 2
Introduction
This task covers significance of multidisciplinary team models that are carried in care
setting. The brief study provides understanding about social processes and its impact on health
and social care services.
Theories that underpin health and social care practice
Multidisciplinary team model is the approach of making decision regarding treatment of
individual patients. Multidisciplinary team is the group of individuals who associated with
clinical discipline, makes decision to give recommended treatment to the patient in efficient
manner. Multidisciplinary team specially works together in certain condition such as cancer, TB.
Multidisciplinary team model comprises multiple health professionals to provide integrate

medical care. this model posses’ various benefits for both patient and the health expertise
working on the team. it includes improved health outcomes and increase satisfaction rate of
clients and leads high efficient use of resources as well as influences job satisfaction of team
members. This model uses by various health care organizations such as NHS to get outcome-
based results. There has an example of Alice case where she suffers from multiple disease so she
takes treatment with NHS agencies which offers various type services to the people. To treat her
effectively NHS agencies uses multidisciplinary team model which is classified into two forms
traditional care group and multidisciplinary team (Worth, 2018). Traditional care (TC) group
provides care services to the people while MDT group offers clinical service means diagnosis
service. Traditional care group provides medication care service to the Alice for diagnosing TB.
On other hand when her kidneys fail due to medication that become complicate situation for the
team so MDT have to give dialysis treatment so that her living expectancy rate enhances. Thus,
NHS uses multidisciplinary model to improve patient’s life.
In Alice case founds that her son Mark suffers from mental issues and needs treatment
but he refuses constantly to receive care from local authorities. It denotes he needs love of the
care expertise. To handle such kind cases, health and social care authorities direct to the
workforce that they must treat care patients with love and offers all information that they willing
to know. Thus, health professionals treat patients effectively.
Roles, responsibilities and duties of manager of multidisciplinary team
The main goal of the social and health care is to build it’s brand image and popularity as
an ideal health and social care organization and maintains wellbeing and convivence of the
patient by eradicating disease. i am the manager of multidisciplinary team so it is primary duty of
mine to strictly monitor team performance either they perform their roles and responsibilities in
properly manner or not. To analyse staff performance effectively gathers feedbacks from the
patient and takes attendance that is necessary to get immediate improvements. Thus, I can
improve reputation of the company effectively as well improves interpersonal working of
multidisciplinary team (MDT). Apart from this, I ensure that MDT team offers equity in the
provision of care, financial support and freedom to the patients on the basis of their background
related to disease in the health and social care organization or not (McCoy and et.al., 2018). In
the emergency case needs to divide multidisciplinary into two groups so that each team can

perform their functions effectively. Whereas I delegate number of tasks between two groups so
that they do not depend on each other. In addition, I also focus that staff member treats their
patients with dignity and respect or not. I focus on the patient’s services like diet foods, cleaning
of rooms, personal hygiene and security of patients so that they can get quality of care service in
the organization. Thus, I perform my roles and duties perfectly in the organization as manager.
Social processes impact on users of health and social care services
Social processes are the activities, actions and operations that comprises the
communication between two people. Social processes are isolation and exclusion,
marginalisation which are prevalent in society and gives positive and negative impact on users in
the home. The processes are described below:
Isolation is one of the main social processes which feels by patients in social and health
care. when people suffer from communicable disease in that case, they are kept in different
wards in the health organization. As same case with those people who suffers from mental
illness, then they keep in different wards whereas they feel isolated themselves. So, it is
important for the social and health care professionals must remain in touch with such patient
which maintains their wellbeing ad feel more relaxed in other wards as well (Jones and et.al.,
2017).
Marginalization is another form of discrimination because in that state, person is not
treated equally as result it can impact social and health care organization’s image negatively. So,
it is very important that every care patient must treat equally and transparently in the social and
health care organization. the reason behind is that inequality may create conflict crisis and harm
to goodwill of workplace.
When health and social care organizations doe not practices on social processes effectively as
result reduces image of the organization in the society.
Explain the effectiveness of inter-professional working
Inter-professional working refers as a group of people or individuals who belongs to
different discipline and working skills in the same health and social care organization. Different
working skills and experienced people interacts to each other in order to exchange knowledge
and achieves the best outcomes (Leung and Dumontier, 2019). Inter-personal working is

considered best strategy because here different skilled people works together to treat people in
efficient manner. This type working is essential for the care practitioners because it supports to
manage the work properly. NHS uses partnership working approach whereas it offers both
health and social care services to the people. NHS collaborates with CCGs, GP practice, local
authorities and health & wellbeing board to improve value based care practice. NHS partnership
with Croydon hospital which offers care services to old aged and disabled people. This
partnership initiative gives positive on NHS team’s working because Croydon health
professional have extensive knowledge about old aged care people while NHS’s practitioners has
medical skills. Both NHS and Croydon work together that improves quality of care and achieves
desirable outcomes in the organization. Croydon’s health professional easy to offer medication
and clinical care service to the patient as per their situation, on the other hand, NHS enables to
handles old aged patients effectively in the organization. Thus, interpersonal working improves
levels of care that impacts on organization’s performance and patient’s health positively
(McCormack and McCance, 2016).
There have some drawbacks as well of inter-personal working such as it leads conflicts
crisis in order to give priorities of other organization’s policy. To work in partnership requires
high understanding in both teams’ members regarding policies and rules etc. then both
organizations can get benefit of partnership working.
Conclusion
It has been summarized theories that supports health and social care practice. Social
processes and it’s impact on users of health and social care services can be concluded in it. The
significance of inter-personal working within organizational has evaluated in it.
Task 3
Own contribution to the development and implementation of health and social care
organizational policy
As manager in the multidisciplinary team develop complaint policy in the social and
health care organization to make system more perfect. It is important policy that is needed to
implement in the organization because most of the time happen old aged people are abused by

health practitioners. Whereas this policy helps to address all issues and discrimination that
happens with old aged people in the care home. As per the complaint policy, if the staff is
founded guilty or catch red handed to misbehave with old people then they should give strict
punishment to enhance their suspending their services from care homes or social and health care
organization and does not offer them re-employment for long period (Pichon-Riviere and et.al.,
2018). Thus, complaint policy protects old aged people from these type consequences. This
policy is effective for the multidisciplinary staff as well if they are discriminated by senior
authorities then they can complaint against senior authorities. According to the policy rule, main
authority of organization has right to suspend senior authority. To implement this policy
effectively will follow all rules related to the policy laws and takes fair decision to punish wrong
person weather they are from staff member or senior authorities (Harrison and et.al., 2019).
Recommendation
 Health and social care organization must use organizational structure approach that helps
to control over the staff and can empowers staff by offering level of power to control
their junior staff. it is the best approach for the organization handle all staff member
effectively in the health and social care organization.
 Organization must appoint separate committee for analyse basic functioning of the social
care organization. It helps company to constantly updating about staff’s care quality
service like bad practices are given in the care home or good (Robson, 2017).
 Training and development program in the care centre also supports health and social care
organization to improve quality and skills in the staff as result enhances outcome-based
care.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded own roles, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties of manger in
multidisciplinary team working and outside the health and social care workplace. the brief study
supported to understand role of all policies and procedures that required for the acer homes and
health and social care organization as per the guidance in respect to give good service and better
quality life to the old aged people in the report.
