INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is the complex system that provides medication and care treatment
to ill people in the hospital or in the society while social care is the process of offering care and
support to vulnerable people and community as well. Health and social care are important for
influencing and maintaining quality of health, preventing and rooting out disease from human
being body, decreasing disability and premature deaths and gaining high health equity. While
social care provides financial and care support to the people to make them more dependent so
that they can redeem their life effectively. To understand role of social care and health care has
an example of NHS. It is publicly funded healthcare system which offers it’s services across the
UK. The brief study provides understanding about principles of supports which are applied to
ensure that individuals gets care in health and social care practice.
Task 1
Principles of support apply to ensure that individuals are cared in health and social care practice
According to the case scenario of Alice who is 89-year-old, live with her three-adult child
in her own house. She takes support of health care due to her personal issues like health, heart
disease. She wants to take support form social care as well because her one adult child Mark, has
mental illness that causes her son nature was too violent and aggressive type (Al-Ramahi, Liu
and El-Gayar, 2017). Generally, Mark does not live with Alice but most of the days he like to
spend with her in her house. He controls Alice’s life like denies to let visitors in or not to let her
answer on the phone calls. Due to the nature of Mark have to face more hardship by Alice. Mark
also has refused to receive care from local authority. Later on, she visits social workers to ask
about Mark’s mental condition. Alice also has health illness i.e. dialysis, TB and kindly failing
so she gets pharmaceutical compliance support (6-month course) at home from the numerous
NHS agencies. Due to these consequences she has been felt depressed then her social workers
suggest to visit NHS psychologist and her social workers understand her condition and
requirement of body influences with age and ability. So, social workers give additional

innervation to secure Alice’s life and agreement to involve in family group conference. These are
some principles of health and social care that are applied to improve care of individuals.
Promote health
The main goal of the care giver is to offer high quality care service to people as result
improves life expectation in them. However, it is primary duty of care givers are to be proactive
and practices every possible initiatives of health improvements which benefits individual’s life.
Respect for privacy and self-esteem
The caregivers have to ensure that privacy of individual is valued whole time and they
can live their life with dignity in the society. This principles practices by whole staff of social
and health care by keeping day to day activities and updates them about their health condition
instead of irritating on them (Anderson, 2019).
Encouraging independence
The old aged people need social affection but wants that they treat as independent person
like others in the home. Whereas health care system supports old aged people by making
schedule of exercise and medicine and food eating. It helps old aged people to live their life by
own rules in rest of the time as result make them feel more independent.
Risk taking responsibilities
The health care givers do not demotivate old aged people at their own house from doing
activities which can involve in risk as well. So, health care keeps great care service that avoid
any harm while performing activities through individuals.
The procedure for protecting Alice, her children and NHS care staff from harm in health and
social care
The primary responsibility of caregivers is to offers health and safety of old aged people like
Alice. The procedure means that caregivers adapts different type practices that prevents older
aged people from any undesirable or unexpected situations are described as follows:
