INTRODUCTION
Health and Social Care is related to the services which are provided by the health and
social care service provider. It combines the components of biology, sociology, nutrition, ethics
and different laws.
HCA is the largest private group of hospital within the UK and having centres across
Manchester and London. They provide expertise and specialist services to their patients. They
had critical care staff which can provide 24/7 care service on-call. The report states the principle
for support which are included in the health and social care practices along with effect of such
policies. Explanation to different legislation, code of practices, regulations and standards on
policy and practices within the organization. The report further carried forward with different
theories which helps in the application of these practices. The report ends with the execution and
development of health and social care policy for organization.
LO 1
1.1 Principle of support in health and social care practice
Principles of support includes partnership, independence, respect and dignity, choice, privacy,
these are used when health and social care workers provide care to the Alice. These principles
are explained below with some examples:
RESPECT: respect is very important principle every worker will have to respect the person
whom they are giving proper care. Health and social worker respect the Alice because their
behaviour will improve their confidence and self-worth in their work.
DIGNITY: it means that every person who is using their services will not be treated in inhuman
way. For example taking care of Alice like normal human being (Tranvåg, Synnes and
McSherry, 2016).
INDEPENDENCE: This principle says that social and health care workers do not give any
decisions on the user. For examples social workers care Alice in such a way that she can make
her own decisions and have full control over life not by imposing decisions on her.
CHOICE: while taking care of the user their choice must be important and services are given
according top their comfort zone.
PRIVACY:privacy is the most important for everyone so the social gives the private space to the
Alice when they take care of her.

1.2 Procedure for protecting people within the organisation from any type of harm
It is the duty of organisation to ensure that the people who are visiting the organisation or
are working within the organisation should be protected from any type of harm, injuries and
abuse (Health and social care standards, 2019). It is one of the mandatory duty of employer of
an organisation to ensure people safety within the workplace. Therefore HCA should ensure to
follow health and safety law are provide protection to Alice, her children along with employees
of an organisation. The protection does not means only to provide physical safety but to maintain
dignity and assure confidentiality of their data. In order to protect Alice who is patient and
employees of HCA, a proper induction programme should be their for employees of an
organisation providing proper training to the employees regarding dealing with any type of
dangerous or harmful events in workplace. Secondly it should be assured that food which has
been provided in HCA should be hygienic so that any type of difficulty does not occur to the
people working in organisation. It should be ensured that the management of HCA should take
reasonable steps in order to ensure minimum hazards at workplace (McCormack and McCance,
2016). Also HCA should ensure to take an action again those who fails to provide services in
healthy and safe manner or who fails to maintain the dignity of law under which the company or
organisation perform its functions.
1.3 The way in which Alice will get benefit of person centred service provision
Person centred approach helps carers to focus on very important aspect of care and which
is to fulfil the needs of patients. With the application of this approach it Alice will receive better
quality care. In order to apply person centred the nurse will communicate with Alice regarding
the her needs and wants. For instance Alice love her son Mark but is also depressed by the erratic
behaviour of his son so by knowing this factor nurse can create a care plan. As in case it has been
mentioned that social worker has ensured that Alice will participate in family group conference
which is a result of discussion between Alice and social worker. Therefore Social worker has
used an approach in correct and effective manner.
As per the views of Nelson and Staggers, (2016), service users who are knowledgeable
an knows how to handle and manage their health results in positive health outcome. Also if the
service users are given an opportunity to make their own decision regarding care then as a result
it was found that such persons are more satisfied with the type of service they are given.

1.4 Ethical dilemmas and conflicts arise when providing care and support:
Health and social workers should behave in ethical manner when they offered proper care
to the Alice. The workers of the health and social care did work according to the principles and
legislation. In the situation of Alice worker have to take decision between two choice of action
like her individual safety and another one is her independence. Alice is suffering from various
health issues like due to her failing kidney health and social workers care of her by providing
dialysis treatment at home. Social and health worker offers safety precautions to the Alice
because she is mentally ill b y taking care of his son. They provide safety to the Alice by
preventing from leaving home in evening and night. Alice is afraid of his son mark so the
workers are in ethical dilemma that they could work like her choice, or they did the duty of
providing safety precautions to the Alice.

2.1 Implementation of policies, regulation, legislation and code of practice which are relevant to
own work in health and social care
Policy depends on the principle of government, business and organization so every health
and social worker are treated according to the policy and principle. Health and social agencies
developed the most of policies for health and social workers. Legislation is a law that are
developed by the parliament there are various legislation laws which are related to the health and
social care workers. The requirement of legislation and code of practices in the organization is
ensured by the manager of social and health care. For identifying these policies a research would
be organized and these research include communication, supporting worker and evaluation
which are explained below:
Communication: under this communication to staffs in the simplest form is necessary for their
proper understanding. Training is given to staff for their required skills for implementation.
Supporting worker: for the implementation of policy like legislation and code of conduct health
and social workers are important people for implementation. Manager of the organization
provide good support to the social workers (Woolcock, 2018).
Evaluation: manager will monitor the process of implementation to ensure that everything will
be on track

2.2 Policies and procedures which should be developed by local organisation in order to make
sure that national standards are met
In order to ensure quality service at HCA, the organisation has to ensure that the services
which they provide should met the national standards. Health and safety legislation is one of the
important aspect or rule which every organisation within the healthcare sector to consider (Le
Grand, 2018). HCA should try to make use of safe practices in order to promote dignity care.
Also as per the health and safety regulation 1981, the employer or organisation should ensure to
provide first aid equipment and trained people in workplace and also employees within the
organisation should be aware of it. Similarly as per the essential practice of quality care such as
workplace in living conditions in HCA. Therefore, HCA should ensure to provide good and
healthy environment to its workplace.
2.3 Impact of policy, regulations and policy as well as code of practice in actual policy of an
organisation
The various policies, regulations and legislations which has been created by the
government might have impact on the policies and procedures which organisation make itself
for running their operations. Therefore it is required by HCA to create policies in such a way that
it should assure the requirements of code of practice, legislation and regulation of the
government. The HCA has some written policies and procedure such as confidentiality policy,
guidelines for addressing case, policy regarding how long information of the patients should be
kept etc (Almgren, 2017). Similarly there are various other policies which organisation has
framed but all these policies in some or the other way is impacted by an organisation. The
policies which are framed by administrative bodies or parliament it becomes essential for every
organisation working within country to make their policies as per the law of an organisation. For
example as the the care standard act 2000 which is a act of parliament of united kingdom which
acts as a administration for variety of healthcare institutions such as child homes, nursing homes,
residential care homes and hospitals. Similarly safeguarding vulnerable group act 2006, which is
the act of parliament, which is passed in order to avoid any type of harm, risk or by avoiding or
preventing people who are not eligible for the job which is related to children and vulnerable
adults.
There are various other law which cause the organisation to make policies as per the laws
of country or parliament.

3.1 Theories in health and social care practice
There are different theories of health and social care in the organization which will be
helpful for the patients for protecting them from harm, abuses and injuries. Behavioural theory,
psychodynamic theory, humanistic theory, are used in the health and social care practice in the
organization of U.K. Behavioural theory explains that action which shows the behaviour of the
people. This theory is important for the people who are using the services of the organization in
UK for taking initiative to improving the health of the people. The health and social care practice
used this theory for changing the unhealthy behaviour of the people like consumption of alcohol,
smoking and other toxic medicines. This theory is implemented for long term measures of the
HCA (Matiti, 2015). In psychodynamic theory it shows the formation of personalities of the
people and how it will be affected in their present lives. Health and social care practice explains
that behaviour of any person are formed during childhood depends on their local environment.
This theory gives ideas to remove the problems like alcoholism, emotional issues among others.
Disease specific models and multidisciplinary models are two example which can be helpful in
practices of HCA in UK. HCA used disease specific model because it provides wide range of
technologies related to the health issues like colorectal cancer, arthritis etc. And the
multidisciplinary team model says that providing a proper care to the patient from a wide range
of health professionals. This model used by HCA because it gives benefits to both the patient and
the team of health professionals.
3.2 Impact of social processes on users
The procedure of establishment and interaction of relationship is known as social process.
Social process have direct impact on the service users so it is very important in social and health
care services. Needs and expectations of the patient whether meeting or not can be determined by
the conversation among the health & social workers and service users. The social process which
is carried by dominance and superiority of professionals, renders to not understanding and
fulfilling the needs of the service users and unsatisfied clients. Unlawful or use of excessive
forces lead to poor relationship among workers and the patient.
In the recent past, Various policies are promoted through Person-centerd approach. Under
this approach the social process in healthcare is based on independence and choice of service

user and their dignity and respect. By communicating with patient and respecting them,
maintaining the dignity, abide by their choices and promoting independence to them. With the
help of this approach the health and social care workers can easily establish the relationship with
the service user which results in meeting the expectations of the patient and understanding the
needs of their customers (McCormack and McCance, 2016). So Person-centerd approach can be
used by the HCA within the organization to support the social process which can help them to
maintain the better relationship among the service users and workers. They can better understand
the needs and demands of the patient.
3.3 Effectiveness of interpersonal working
Today, in UK the inter-professional workings have become an ordinary. With the help of
recent health legislations and policies leads to cooperative working among various professional
agencies and professionals. For delivering the complete care to patients, individual from different
professional backgrounds came and work together. This approach promotes the significant
improvement in the quality of care. This approach helps in developing more innovative ways of
care delivery, improvement in the professional relationship among others and further health
outcome can be improved. The study by Mossialos and Le Grand, (2019), states that with the
help of inter-professional workings the hospital readmission has been reduced by 80%.
For example, the nurses should provide the clear information about the patient to their
doctors so that any step couldn't be missed out by the doctor in their treatment and proper
treatment can be given to them. If the nurses and doctors are not working collaborative they
couldn't treat their patient perfectly and thus their patient will be not satisfied by the treatment.

4.1 Role, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties
Role, responsibilities and duties is to provide quality services to the patient of the HCA in
the UK and it all depends on the leadership role provided by the organization. It is depends on
the health and social care providers like HCA in UK to check that all the issues are finish by
giving quality services. So if I get appointed as the manager in HCA then my role, duties and
responsibilities is to provide better services to the people and if the services are not working well
then it's my responsibility to bring changes in the services. Roles and responsibilities within
organization is to give ideas for implementing the development and support works.
Responsibilities, role, and duties I would perform in those areas where changes are most

required. Role of manager is to bring changes in improving the services of the organization for
better image of the organisation.
4.2 Contribution
In order to develop social and healthcare policies in HCA, all the seniors of an
organisation will be consulted. It will be ensured that within the organisation health and safety
policy as well as complaint policy is well regulated. As per the health and safety policy the
policies by considering health and safety of employees will be prepared. For example, HCA will
be committed to prevent any type of accidental loss in an organisation to any people or resources
of organisation (De Serres and et.al., 2017). In accordance with industry standard HCA will
ensure that any type of accidental loss should not be occurred within the organisation. Secondly
for implementing complaining policy Meetings among the organisation is one of the important
platform in order to develop healthcare policies. Similarly the complaint policy will also be
implemented in organisation in order to make the people of an organisation including patient to
feel safe and rely on company that they will provide safety to us and will respect our views.
4.3 Recommendation
It is the duty of every health and social care worker to contribute to their best in order to
develop health and social care services at workplace (Morse, 2016). I will ensure that the
services which is provided by HCA should ensure safety of people including patient, employees
and other workers of the organisation. I will ensure that whatever feedback I will receive from
my subordinates and superiors I will try to work on them, I will take responsibility of my actions
and will ensure that any type of harm is not caused by me to any people specially patients. I will
remain loyal to the organisation and will handle my duty with care. And it will also try to make
my best possible contribution in health and social care service each time I deal with new patients.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it is concluded that the health and social care workers should strive
hard to enhance their contribution towards developing the effective provision for these services.
The principles help the service provider to meet the needs and expectation of the patient and
easily satisfy them. If customers are satisfied thus the organization will grow and their goodwill
will be raised in the market and more consumer will be attracted thus their goal can also be
achieved and patients are also treated better with the collaborative working of the service
provider and the workers. This can be done effectively with the help of different theories in

compliance with necessary law, policies & principles and code of practices. It is very helpful for
the both the organization and consumer's. Quality services provided to the patient along with the
ethical and social duties, help in satisfying the customer and providing the proper treatment to
them.
