INTRODUCTION The industry of health and social care is considered as one of the largest sectors in world. There are certain improvements in the unit of health care that helps to increase the level of life expectancy and improve the quality of life. All the actions taken by healthcare practitioners are in the favour of patients and providing appropriate quality of services. The present study is based on East and West Care home that is situated in London. This report provides a clear understanding of different principles which are implemented in the HSC practices (Carlopio and et.al., 2012). Further, it also covers the impact of different policies and legislations along with code of conduct in health care home. Moreover, it also provides understanding of theories related tohealthcarepractices.Lastly, itincludesthecontributionforowndevelopmentand implementation of policies. PART 1 In context of East and West Care home, there are certain principles that help in ensuring appropriate care of patients at workplace. It mainly includes the principles of independence in which an individual has right to perform the activities as per his/her needs and requirements. These principles help in reducing the level of disputes at workplace (Cutler and Waine, 2003). Further, the principle of individuality and diversity assists patients to carry out their work on their own desire. There is an important role played by attitude, behaviour and beliefs which analyse the mutual understanding with different types of patients. Along with this, it is important to provide space to all patients as they have their own dignity and it is the main responsibility of care home to manage the dignity of patients. As per the given case scenario, some of the methods which are followed by care home for protecting patients from harm mainly include the assessment of risk which helps to evaluate the effect of disease that harms the life of patients. In order to reduce the impact of factorssuch as risk to the patients, a proper evaluation along with corrective measures is required (Devitt and Smith, 2007). This method helps in providing quality services to reduce the risks and harm that are caused by different factors. Further, for reducing the impact of risk in care home, there is requirement to maintain records of patients which helps the practitioner to take appropriate actions at right time. In addition to this, there are certain risks involved at the time of delivering medical services to patients. The effect of risk can be physical as well as emotional on the health 2
of patients. There is the requirement to make appropriate plan by management in order to reduce danger from the life of patients. Furthermore, there are certain advantages of person centered approach that provides an appropriate medium in order to deliver the services to patients (Lowes and Hulatt, 2013). This method is helpful to make some improvements in the current process and to adopt certain innovative ideas in the culture of work of organisation. While using this approach, needs of patients are taken into consideration. One of the major benefits of this approach is to provide services as per the requirement and needs of patients and to enhance their level of satisfaction. At East and West care home, it will assist the patients to build appropriate relationship that develops an effective bond. With the help of person centred approach, lifestyle gets changed in the positive direction. Further, it develops positive and healthy environment which proves to be effective for the patients. Due to this, people are self-motivatedand stay happy (Martin, Lippitt and Prothero, 2013). Thus, it can be stated that through the person centred approach at East and West care home,it gives importance to the patients and provides better opportunities to sustain in the environment. In context of care home, they provide medical services to the patients which creates situations of conflicts along with ethical dilemmas (Morse and et.al., 2013). There are some different types of conflicts arise such as quality of care along with the insufficient knowledge regarding clinical-care protocols. It will also prove to be harmful for the health of patients as there is requirement to provide appropriate services to patients. Further, at the time of taking decisions, all staff members have different opinions which create the situations of dilemma that needs to be resolved by the top level management of care home (Moss, 2015). PART 2 Enclosed in PPT PART 3 Reflective In context of working in health care unit, I have some duties and responsibilities at workplace which includes quality assurance as at the time of delivering services to patients, it is my responsibility to provide services according to the standard of quality. in order to organise the sessions of training and development for other staff members. Moreover, I have responsibility to deal with other hospitals and care organisations so that I can update my knowledge through different legislations and standards of quality. In order to evaluate own contribution for the development and implementation of health and social care policywhere as a senior worker there is utilisation of Gibbs reflective cycle in which firstly I have to analyse the issues which are faced by the workers while delivering services.Further, I determine that stress is considered as a major issue which affects the style of working along with productivity. This affects their work as they are not able to deliver appropriate quality of services. There is the requirement to arrange workshops which helps to create awareness of process and policies which are to be adopted by care home. In context of issues and problems, there are certain policies suggested by me in front of management which are required to be implemented. Thus, it can be stated that proper action plan is helpful for managing the issues of workers which provide positive outcomes. There are certain recommendations for the purpose of developing own contribution for meeting appropriate practice requirements which includes that there is appropriate knowledge regarding the various code of conducts of the practice of HSC. In addition to this, it needs to increase in level of participation for developing the policies of HSC which are in the favour of patients as well as staff. To create good relationship with other care home for the purpose of learning different practices of care. Further, it is essential to maintain the cleanliness and to make sure the implementation of of the various practices. Besides this, it is required to provide appropriate training to staff members about the new equipments which are to be used by them. Moreover, there are no activities regarding the discrimination on the basis of any parameters. Thus, all of this are some of the recommendation which needs to be implemented by healthcare unit for betterment of staff as well as patients. CONCLUSION From the above carried out study it can be concluded that there are different types of principles which supports the care home in order to deliver appropriate quality of services to patients. It can be summarized that person centric approach is also helpful in providing services according to the needs and requirement of patients. Thus, it can be stated that there is also an 4
important role played by interpersonal working approach that is advantageous for the staff members and patients. 5
