INTRODUCTIONIn the present era, managing information is essential for commercial entities to getsuccess in this competitive world. For that, information systems are necessary to adopt by themanagement of company in order to maintain the records of business transactions in an effectivemanner. SECTION ATASK 1(a.1)ASDA is one of the leading supermarket chains in UK which is focused on renderinghousehold products to its customers including clothing, cosmetics, kitchen appliances and foodproducts. In case of ASDA, maintaining proper information related to the stock of goods is themajor requirement. (a.2)In order to maintain the records of inventory, two types of systems can be used by themanagement of company. First is stock control system which is focused on recording theinformation related to product’s price, description, stock level, reorder quantity and minimumstock level (Stock control system, 2015). Along with this, it helps ASDA to keep track the allitems by recording data about the receiving, delivering and selling of stock. The second systemfor managing stock is the data base management system which is focused on maintaining theintegrity of data in an effective manner. Further, it allows user to create, delete and modifydatabase according to their needs. (a.3) Advantages and disadvantages for each system give examples and analysisAdvantages: Using stock control system makes it easier for organization to maintain the records of allproducts in an effective manner as well as it saves time. Further, data base management systemhelps in enhancing the level of data sharing, data security and data integrity. In addition to this,computerized data inventory management system helps the managers of Asda in generation ofrelevant documents related to purchase orders, invoices and customers details.Disadvantages:It also includes disadvantages as it increases the cost of company and it is very complexto manage (Advantages and disadvantages of database management system, 2015). On the otherside, this system does not ensure that recorded data is properly accurate. Apart from this,computerized system are prone to risk of intrusion which consequently leads to hacking andincreased chances of fraud.(a.4) Evaluated recommendationsAsda need to be install cost effective stock control system to maintain essentialinformation related to stock management (Terry, 2012).
