principles and practices of project management are vital and associated with right path that
guides and instruct the project manager towards achieving the objectives. Business projects are a
set of total goals which divided in various forms to focus on each function and activities of
company. Project management is a crucial process for organisation which set goals, timelines,
deadlines and project deliveries (Gbadamosi, 2019). It helps in maintaining control and
supervision of project tasks so that, there will be no issues and uncertainties that will impact on
the organisation profitability. This report is going to focus on appropriate research approach and
methods which will helps in collecting relevant data through literature sources. The company
chosen for this report is Tesco, it was established in 1919 in London, UK. The company is one of
the largest supermarket across the UK that capture wide area. Therefore, the research will focus
on one of the most important issue in company about quality management due to the impact of
Covid-19.

Tesco comes under the largest supermarket of UK. The company haws well established
position across the world due its quality focus products and affordable price range. Tesco deals

in large varieties of products and services such as consumer goods, health and beauty, home
furnishing and all the merchandise items which meet with the day to day demand of customers.
The company has diversified operation in other banking, telecom and financial services. The
company has maintained its image in the global market as the top market volume producer. The
company is the crucial part of the retail industry which has ascertained potential to capture
customer satisfaction (Salama, 2018). Due to the impact of Covid-19, retail industry got decline
the past recent years due to the issue in change of customer preferences, market trends and more
focused on health and quality which impact on the rise in cost of company operations.

According to the Kryvoruchko, Shynkarenko, and Popova, 2018, the concept of quality
management vis all about assuring delivering of right goods and services to the customer.
Quality is the major requirement of every customer while looking to satisfy their demands. The
customer does not compromise in the quality even to pay a higher price for that. Therefore,
quality management is an important concept for the organisation which tends to focus on the
overall operations of the production process. The manger analyse any mistakes, problems and
insufficiency in the production which results in poor quality of products. Therefore, the concept
of total quality management is the priority area for Tesco as it supports with various principles
such as customer focus, leadership, people involvement, process approach and continuous
improvement. These are the essential factors in order to manage quality in production for Tesco.
The company is facing issues due to change in the customer preferences and trends (Klimecka-
Tatar, and Ingaldi, 2021). It affects on the quality of organisation as the products needs to be
highly beneficial for health and immunity but the use of pesticides and other flavoured
ingredients might give good taste but not be beneficial for health. By focusing on customer
satisfaction, the Tesco will be able to generate more revenue and regain its market share. Hence,
it shows that quality management is vital to keep control on the overall activities and tasks in
order to maintain a desired level of excellent output. It avoids any defects and change in the
overall production which assure the need for change in the organisation. It is important to
manage customer satisfaction and retain them for longer time. The Tesco has brand recognisable
and long term goals as well as attracting new customers. Leadership is the most important

concept which require in quality control. As leaders will be able to guide on each team member
performance as per the task requirements so that quality and quantity both will not be sacrificed.

process, quality assurance, quality control and continuous improvement. Therefore, all these
process play vital role in order to enhance the sales and productivity of the company. There is
necessary of appropriate techniques which helps in takes place the advantage of quality in
products and services. These techniques helps the manager to think of the best solution, identify
mistakes and be able to achieve standards targets of the company. There are various techniques
that are required to ascertain focus on the operation and overall process of the production.,
planning, organising and controlling the formation of product and service. These techniques are
brainstorming, six sigma and lean production methodology and continuous improvement plan.
The technique of six sigma is most effective approach in order to eliminate any mistakes and
defects from the production process. This techniques includes DMAIC procedure which involves
Define, measure, analyse, improve and control. The stage of define shows that, the manager
needs define the overall problems which they have found in the process. Defining problems will
lead to analyse its solution by finding the root cause and eliminate those defects from the
production. The tesco manager needs to enhance their sales in the time of Covid-19 which could
be done through using six sigma technique. The next stage of this technique is to measure the
capability of tesco from comparing past results fro the current performance. The manger would
be able to plan strategies according to the potential of company. The next stage is to analyse and
identify the problems and defect through going deep down in finding the issues. This will helps

organisation. After that, there is necessary to improve the production process through providing
great solution and strategies that will remove the mistakes and improve products quality as per
the customer requirement. The last but the most crucial stage is to control and monitor all these

product, its process and employee performance. Therefore, the Tesco is facing quality issues due
to requirement of highly focus immunity boosters which is beneficial for health during the time
of Covid-19. The company needs to hire more staff as the existing ones gone left from the
company due to Covid-19 restrictions. This impact on the resource validity and shortage of talent
within company due to which somehow, quality has scarified. In the crucial time of pandemic,
people want more of personalised products as well as immunity boosters that give strength to the
people (Ling, and Wahab, 2020). The Tesco has gain much support from the government in the
financial requirement. These finances helps the company to bring more of organic product
substances and naturally produced food packages to deliver at the doorstep of the customers.
Therefore, the company is likely to get impact of Covid-19 pandemic in fulfilling all customer
demands and also provide quality in services and deliveries. There needs to be better packaging
to support sustainability and home deliveries are become crucial in pandemic.

There is set of procedures and steps that must be followed in order to complete a research
effectively. Research methodology involves systematic series of actions that are taken by
researcher in order to carry on a research and draw conclusion. There is need to take all the
actions in suitable manner so that the goals of research are achieved properly. The necessary

two main type of research philosophies that are positivism and interpretivism. There is need to
use right philosophy so that right conclusion can be derived from the research (Pandey and
Pandey, 2021). The Interpretivism research philosophy is based on observing the social
world and the positivism research philosophy works according to factual basis. The data is
collected and then research is done in objective manner. There is need of Interpretivism
research philosophy to complete the research in proper manner.
Research approach: This is used to evaluate the data in proper manner. The topic of
research is decided and then it is important to collect information related to the topic. There
are two types of research that are inductive and deductive research. The use of inductive
research is done when the research is based on theories and that help to analyses the
information. In deductive research scientific ways are used to analyze the data. Inductive
resaerch is used in this case because qualitative data is taken into considered.
Research Design: It can be defined as right framework that assist in gaining
suitability of data. The use of exploratory research will help the researcher to achieve the
goals and objectives in effective manner.
Data collection method: There is need of collect information from the right source.
The two ways of collecting data are primary and secondary. The primary data collection
method is use of first hand data that helps to collect the information by researcher. There is
need of questionnaire as that helps to take review of sample size. On the other side the
another way to collect information is secondary. Under this technique data is collected from
already published sources (Mohajan, 2018). The use of such data is done from books,

social media platforms to get insight about the highest quality standards they are
expecting from the company (Akter, Hossain, and Strong, 2021).
 Crete a dynamic workplace culture in which innovation and continuous improvement
must be crucial element and prepare employees for the same.
 The company needs to work more on improvisation and supervision by hiring capable
managers and leaders to solve the quality issues and the labours will be able to get good
guidelines.
 The company has must mainly focus on giving best customer services which also comes
under good quality management practices.
