Introduction Main objective of this report is to better understand the importance of leadership and management skills. In an organisation both the skills play an essential role. Good leadership skill will help a person in guiding and influencing the behaviour of others in an effective way so they can work with their full efficiency towards the achievement of particular skill. Leadership will provide the direction to employees while enhancing this skill is not an easy task it will require a lot of experience. While on the other hand effective management skills help a person in efficiently managing the operations of business in a better way. An effective management include various activities of setting the strategy of an organisation and effectively manage the available resource of company. Both the skill help an individual in its future growth and success. MAIN BODY TASK I understand that both the leadership and management skills play an essential role in growth and success in my workplace life. For effectively analysing my leadership and management strength and weakness I use Boyatzis’s theory of self-directed learning. With the help of this theory I am able to analysis my strength and weakness and various resources from where I can develop my skill. My ideal self:I realize that I want to be a good manager in a reputed company which help me in my future growth and success. I realize that for my future growth both the leadership and management skills will help me in properly managing the work in organisation and effectively guide the team members of company. I understand that these skill will make a good manager who have good leadership skills also. For being a good manager in a reputed organisation I need to effectively develop these skills so that I am efficiently achieve my future goal and also help an organisation in successfully achieving the goal. As both the skills play an essential role in efficiently achieving the goal and task. My real self:By analysing the importance of leadership and management skills I realise that I have lack of these skills. I just learn some of leadership and management skills at my study level. As I organised a curricular activity in my school and manage the work efficiently. But I realise that these skills are not sufficient for me to build my carrier as a manager in a reputed company. I need to develop these skills so that I am efficiently manage the whole work and 3
achieve the objective of task. I realise that there is a huge difference between my actual leadership and management skills and my ideal skills. My learning agenda: After analysis the difference in my skills I try to develop my management and leadership skills. For effectively enhancing these skills I join various online leadership and management classes which help me in developing my skills. Other than this I join seminar of motivational speakers who motivate people with their speech. These seminar will assist me in how can I influence the behaviour of people and motivate them towards the particular task and make them to achieve the particular goal. Other than this I read various books of leadership and management which help me in enhancing my knowledge in leadership and management theory. By reading these books I can use effective leadership and management strategies for better reseals. My all these parties will assist me in efficiently developing these skills in me and remove the gap between my real self-overlap and my ideal skill. Experimenting:After efficiently developing my leadership and management skill I start experimenting my skills. For this I resolve daily conflicts on time which I face in my daily life. I participate in organising various function through which I am able to manage the whole work efficiently and guide the other people and how they can perform their duty. Through this experiment I realise that I am able to manage the whole work and also complete it on time. I realise that there are various problem that I face in my daily life but effective management skill will help me in timely resolving these problems and make me to take correct action. Through these experiments I am able to develop new behaviour and feelings inside me that help me in achieving my future goal & provide various growth opportunities. Developingtrustingrelationship:Forsuccessfullyenhancingmyleadershipand management skill I develop a good relationship with my classmates and teacher and they will support me and encourage me at each step in the process of developing my leadership and management skills. My friends will motivate me and my teacher will provide various source through which I am able to develop these skills. They suggest me various online course which help me to understand the concept of leadership and management in an effective way. Through these Couse I can become a good leader or a manager. Both my teachers and friends will encourage me to join leadership and management workshop through where I gain piratical knowledge and how I can apply these skills in my life.
