Project
AI Summary
This project identifies the pervasive problem of plastic bottle waste, a significant environmental concern due to the high consumption rates and low recycling rates. The project delves into the consequences of this waste, including its impact on the environment, marine life, and human health, highlighting the presence of harmful substances like BPA. It examines the problem delineation, exploring the effects of plastic waste on ecosystems, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource depletion. The project investigates the stakeholders affected, the geographical scope of the problem, and the underlying causes. It proposes and evaluates potential solutions such as the increased use of alternative materials like aluminum and glass, and introduces innovative product ideas like recycled plastic bottle planters and travel jackets. The project emphasizes the need for a circular economy, societal cooperation, and product recyclability to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic bottle waste. It also details the feasibility and impact of these product ideas and emphasizes the importance of eco-design and recyclability in reducing waste and promoting a greener environment.

1.0 Problem Identification
Over plastic uses for making plastic bottles for shampoos, shower gels
and beauty products. This is the major problem for humans, the
environment, and for our planet. It is finding that,1500 plastic
bottles are consumed by people every second in
US. The another fact is that 80 percent of bottles never
get recycled which is really very unsustainable issue in
my opinion. To adding this, it takes 700 years to
dissolve.
1.1 Problem delineation
We are using too much plastic in our daily life such as bottles of
shampoos, shower gels and so on. After using it, its garbage and no
one cares about that where it is going. Even people don’t know what
the bad consequences of this are. There are many problems such as
effects on environment and sea life, greenhouse gases (level of co2
increases), loss of resources. We use plastic bottles for short period of
time, but it takes long time to break down in landfill. Moreover,
plastic bottles contain bis phenol A(BPA), BPA is an endocrine
disruptor which has been considered hazardous to
human health. It increases to various health problems
including certain types of cancer, neurological
difficulties, early puberty in girls, reduced fertility in
women, premature labour, and defects in new-born
babies – these are few examples. A study found that 96% of
women in the U.S have BPA in their bodies, which is conducted last
year.
Solutions which we can think are: Use of aluminum bottles, glass
bottles and stainless bottle should be increased.
1.2 Information gathering
Who does this affect?
- Recycling the plastics bottles is going to affect the environments in terms of waste,
this will affects the big company who take parts in producing these bottles, mean
while indirectly help improve the life of consumers, normal people who goes on
about there usual life.

What is happening?
- Due to plastic are not biodegradable they are affecting soils, releasing dangerous
fumes into the environment which causes disease killing, intoxicating living organism
which could lead to a big outbreak in the future, reducing places where people can
live affecting future generations.
Where does it occur?
- This situation occurs all over the world not limited just to Australia. This currently
wiki will be focusing on Australia for the time being.
When does it occur?
- The situation has been and ever going since the production of plastic bottles in
order to contain liquids/ drink and being thrown out after use. It will continue to be an
ongoing problem until disposal of plastic bottle are dealt with in the form of recycling
itinto another product or reuse.
Why does it happen?
- Plastic bottle are only used to contain the liquid it have inside are dispose after,
then they can't be degraded in the environment, affected by the suns and raid
overtime it becomes toxic fumes that fill the surrounding air, soak into the soil and
spread further and further damaging the environment.
How does it happen?
- Plastic bottle material are made from toxic material such as vinyl, etc
- They are the cause of cancer if left unotuched.
- Some plastic bottles are thrown down the bottom of the sea which harm the marine
lifes.
1.3 Idea generation

Product ideas:
(1) Recycled plastic bottle fold-able platers that can be used to contain soil for raising
plants and flowers at home, due to their lightweight and form they can be hanged
aswell, suitable for a hanging garden or compact places but still like having nature
around.
(2) Travel jackets that contains enough space for all traveling essentials, smart
design pockets, water resistance and is convert able into a blanket for flights. This
jacket at the end can be recycled again and turned into another product to keep the
life cycle going reducing waste from plastic and encourage waste reduction,
promoting the green environment.

1.4 Idea, evaluation refinement
The introduction of new recycling solution depends a great deal on recycled plastic bottle
fold-able platers and travel jackets require extensive cooperation from society as well as the
organizations incorporate into a circular economy. The recycled plastic bottle fold-able
platers will be beneficial in decorating the home with fold-able platers while feeling the
nature around and therefore, can be regarded as the best way to recycle the bottle. Travel
jacket can also be recycled repeatedly resulting in reduction of waste, exploiting more
environmental opportunities and truly closed the recycling loop. Evaluation is made of the
feasibility and impacts of these product ideas and further measures are also required to be
promoted at a level to strengthen the Eco design and recyclability of products
