Introduction
In this report, the focus is on application of lean project management to organize a
prestigious world class event “FIFA 2022 World Cup football tournament”. This report
illustrates the processes that could be applied for stakeholder management along with the
identification of the stakeholder who will be associated with the event. Further, the ways in
which lean project management could be applied is discussed in this report. The areas and
opportunities for elimination of waste has also been identified and presented in this report.
Apart from that, the processes from different project management methodologies that could
be used for implementation of lean project management has been illustrated in this report.
1. Identification and elaboration of processes for stakeholder management
1.1 PMBOK processes for stakeholder management
Stakeholders have an important role to play so that the event could be completed
successfully. The management of stakeholders will be done using four steps or processes as
per PMBOK. The stakeholders could be affected or have impact on the event so they have to
be managed efficiently. The stakeholders will be responsible for the execution of various
activities that are required to complete the event. The processes that will be used for
stakeholder management are illustrated as below:
Identification of stakeholders – It is considered as first step in the process that will be
used in managing the stakeholders efficiently. The stakeholders will be identified at the very
beginning of event so that they could monitored and controlled effectively (Kerzner &
Kerzner, 2017). The identification of the stakeholders is an essential element for determining
their desired requirements. In this step, the stakeholders will be identified and analysed to
determine their power, interest and influence over the event. The stakeholder identification
will help to achieve positive outcomes from the event aligned with the goals and objectives of
the event. The negative influences on the event could be minimized with the help of proper
stakeholder identification and analysis. The stakeholder identification at an early stage of the
project will help to apply business strategies aligning with the strategic goals of the event. In
this process, various tools and techniques could be utilized for stakeholder identification
however, the most effective and efficient is stakeholder register (Bourne, 2016). A
stakeholder register will be developed containing information about the stakeholders along
with their power and interest over the event. Further, it is required that the Project manager is
aware of the stakeholder influence on the event so that they are managed efficiently. The

expert judgment will also play an important role as their views and opinions will help to
better understand the stakeholders.
Planning of stakeholder engagement – It is the next step in which the plan for
engaging the stakeholders will be developed. In this process, the strategies will be developed
so that the stakeholders could be associated at every phase in the event. Through this process,
the expectation of the stakeholders could be identified easily to manage them with efficiency
(Hermano & Martín-Cruz, 2019). In this process, the stakeholder communication will be also
developed to ensure that the stakeholders are well aware of the deliverables. With the help of
this process, the stakeholder efficiency could be enhanced and improved. The development of
stakeholder management plan will describe the method that will be followed for effective
stakeholder engagement. The engagement of the stakeholders will ensure that the desired
requirements are fulfilled and completed according to the goals and objectives. Further, this
process will help to develop relationship between the team members and the stakeholders so
that the deliverables could be achieved successfully (Hornstein, 2015). Additionally, review
of the stakeholder will be carried out regularly so that their level of engagement could be
adjusted accordingly as per the requirements. The completion of project could be done
according to the stakeholder requirements with the help of proper stakeholder engagement.
Management of stakeholder engagement In this process, the engagement of
stakeholders will be managed so that any issues occurring during the event could be handled
efficiently. This process is focused on increasing the support and reducing the resistance so
that both the internal or external stakeholders could be managed efficiently (Heagney, 2016).
According to this process, each identified issue different problem solving people should be
assigned. It is assumed that changes in thinking and management process can be implemented
with the application of certain tools and techniques. The engagement of the stakeholders is an
efficient element for reducing the risks so that the chances of successful execution of the
project could be ensured. The suitable management approach for the stakeholders will help to
achieve the desired requirement of the stakeholders. The influence of stakeholders will be
evaluated so that the desired goals and objectives of the event could be achieved. In this
process, the stakeholder register will be used so that the event could be completed with the
help of suitable planning and management. The managing of the stakeholders is an essential
requirement that will help the project manager to execute the required activities as per the
requirements (Karaman & Kurt, 2015). The successful completion of the stakeholder
