INTRODUCTIONOperation management can be defined as the administration of business practices forcreating highest level of efficiency in the organisation. This is defined as the process in whichraw-materials and labour are managed together for manufacturing an effective finished goods inthe organisation. The major benefit to implement this in organisation is to maximize the profitsfor the corporation by completing their process in effective manner. The organisation chosen forthis task is Portakabin which is a leading organisation in construction industry. Most of theirtransaction are business to business for completing their work effectively. This project isfocused on the implementation of various operations management principles. Along, with thiscontinuous improvement plan will also be developed that is based on the operations managementprinciple (Fenn and et. al., 2012). At last, each stage of the product life cycle is also included inthis report by using appropriate techniques, theories, concept and model.TASK 1P1 Implementation of operations management principlesIntroduction to the organisation- Portakabin is one of the leading organisation of the UKmarket. They provides various goods are manufactured by organisation. Management ofPortakabin is operating and their business in more than 6 countries. Moreover, there are 1,300employee's are engage in organisation for completing their work effectively. The core businessesof the Portakabin is B2B businesses. This determines that they manufactures products for otherbusiness that operates their businesses with more efficiency and effectiveness. Operations versus Operation management Operations- Operations refers to the process of converting raw-material and semi-finished goods into finished goods. Moreover, this helps the management for developingeffective strategies and policies. It helps an organisation to achieve their goals in most effectivemanner (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016). Operation management- This refers to the process of planning, controlling andsupervising all the activities of production department. In context of Portakabin this is theprimary function for management that is used by them to enhance the overall productivity of theorganisation. 1
