1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development,
and the transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal
learning and development
Personal development refers to the overall process by which people develop
their own competencies and skills. This process undertakes the focus over person
and their skills, knowledge and features along with the proper sense of identity.
Personal learning is defined as the process for improving their own personality by
having effective learning of new skills and develop more knowledge by analyzing the
weak points (Webb and McQuaid, 2018). For my personal learning, I need to
implement the social learning theory by which I can easily develop and learn my
personality by analyzing others. This theory depicts that people need to learn
through direct or indirect manner by analyzing their surroundings. By analyzing this
theory, I am capable enough to learn additional skills and behavior that can help me
in terms of developing my personality among people.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed
by attending this module
Transferable skills are considered as the one who has effective capabilities
which an individual must have to develop things while pursuing their education,
develop experience and training from assigned job role. In terms of this, the
transferable skills are discussed as below:
Communication skills: these are described as the competencies of person
to offer their suggestions in clear way whether it is oral or written communication. At
the time of attending this module I need to learn that effective communication skills
are very important for both professional and personal lives. It is useful for people in
terms of representing their details which they want to convey clearly. I have also
developed by skills to write any other document in accurate manner by mentioning
essential details and neglecting unnecessary details (Keiler, Diotti and Hudon, 2019).
As per my verbal communication I am capable enough to put forwards my point
among others so that they can understand my view point. In this skill, it is quite
important to have suitable body language like face to face meetings and so on as it

can create a wrong image among others. By this module, I have analyzed that in
written manner I need to go through all the grammatical manner and also read
documents in terms of neglecting any other mistakes.
Leadership skills: These are referred as the skills to lead a group or person
by offering them suitable guidance. By this module, I am able to develop my skills
which are important for my professional career in management sector. I also learned
that to direct or motivate people to achieve their goals it is quite important to have
effective leadership quality. I have also developed sincerity among myself as this
factor is important to become an effective leader. I am capable enough to handle
more projects for managing team by cooperating with them. At the time of attending
this module I have developed by listening skills that would help me in developing my
professional life.
Critical thinking: It is described as the overall ability of people to identify the
facts regarding the situation and move towards the conclusion. This skill is essential
in both personal and professional life as the employers always need those people
who can offer informed solution against any other issues. During this module, I have
developed my critical thinking skills where I need to understood that every decision
should be taken for the purpose which needs to be analyzed (Cheon and et. al., 2018).
This skill is helpful for me in finding prominent solution regarding any other issue. I
have also analyzed that every decision at some consequences can be beneficial or
harmful for people. I also need to take proper advice from others as it is not
important that I will be always correct and also understand the thoughts of people by
this I take effective decisions.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies,
personal life and the workplace
There are some skills in which I am weak and I need to develop them as it will help
me my professional and personal life. Some of these skills are discussed as:
Technical skills: These skills are linked with the overall competencies of
person to perform their tasks effectively. It is helpful for me to keep data and
information regarding the employees. This will develop effective confidence among
my personality as I would be able to manage any software which is related with
technology. This skill is important in present time as every employer operate their

business from both online and offline channels. Technical skills is helpful regarding
the marketing activities which I need to acquire as it would help me in designing the
promotional activities for my future workplace. Technical skills would help me in
handling social media channels like Instagram, twitter, Facebook and so forth.
Teamwork: These abilities of an individual is related with working in an
effective coordination with their colleagues that would help me in terms of finishing
their work in productive manner. I also need to develop team working skills as it will
help me in sharing my thoughts and duties with teammates (Tang, 2020). It will help
me in enhancing my learning opportunities as by this I would encounter with several
personalities who possesses diverse experience, talents and skills. Teamwork will
help me in developing my morale to take effective responsibilities of my actions in
certain projects that will develop my personality.
Time management: This competence of an individual helps them in
managing their projects and daily life activities as per their preferences. It is very
important that I need to develop this skill as it will help me in developing my work life
balance and decrease anxiety. It is important because it reduces stress and anxiety
by decreasing the pressure of meeting deadlines (Laver and et. al., 2018). By
developing this skill, I will need to remain focused on my assigned task by
developing the overall productivity. Time management would help me in reducing the
distractions and developing concentration. By enhancing my time management
skills, I will be able to plan my activities and priorities in an effective manner.
