INTRODUCTION
Reflective report is defined as the analytical practise in which individuals have to
describe about scenario that can be imaginary or real. This is important as it helps in knowing
about capability of an individual. In the present report, there is scenario regarding job field in
which I have to evaluate my skills by using SWOT analysis and personal development plan. Also
this report contains analysis of legal legislative risk that managers and employees have to
consider while working in the hotel industry (Ku, And et.Al, 2016). The various areas covered
in this report are data protection, food hygiene, Hotel proprietors Act 1956, licensing, health and
safety, liability, etc.
Skill Audit Analysis is very important as it helps in analysing own skills and abilities for
working in the hotel industry. SWOT analysis is done by me for knowing whether I am capable
for working in hotel industry or not, whether I have all skills and abilities to work properly or
not.
SWOT analysis
This is done by me for evaluating my internal strength and weakness in performing
operations and activities involved in working in hotel. SWOT stands for strength, weaknesses,
opportunity, strength and this will help me to analyse whether I can work appropriately or not.
Weakness will tell me about about what skills I have to improve and on the other hand,
opportunities will provide information about what platform is present where I can develop my
skills (Pichugina, 2017). Threats are those areas which will tell about hindrances while working
in hotel.
Strength Weaknesses
I have done course on Hotel management last
year. Thus I am fully trained about operations
and business activities of hotel industry. I have
done a 6 month internship in 3 Star hotel where
I was guided by manager in handling and
managing hotel businesses. I have the potential
to show my best while working under pressure
I am not able to handle and manage my
personal as well as professional life effectively.
It is not easy for me to work in situation where
I have to perform multiple jobs. That is why I
am not able to manage daily activities and
tasks appropriately. There are some times
where I am not in a good mood as I have

situation. I have prior experience and
knowledge about serving customers and
guests. This will help me as a manager to make
effective decisions for business. My previous
experience and knowledge will help in
performing well in the company (Sevak, and
Et. AL., 2017). I can manage work

personal problems that time I am not able to
concentrate on my work.
Another weakness of mine is I need additional
time for doing work properly. Also, sometimes
I have problem in managing and handling tasks
and main reason behind this is lack of proper
planning. I am not able to organise tasks in an
suitable way. I do not have enough confidence
to accomplish all business activities and tasks
while handling employees. I am scared of
arguing with negative employees. I can't
handle pessimistic staff people. I cannot
manage those tasks where staff member denies
to do the work. I also have problem in
concentrating on a particular responsibility
when I have numerous jobs.
Opportunity Threads
I have various opportunities in the hotel or
hospitality industry as it is growing at a faster
rate. There is great technological development
and hotel industry has also has new techniques
which can be used for providing a good
customer experience. I can manage staff and
attract more number of guests and customers
towards taking service of my hotel. I can
synchronise with other departments of hotel
and staff for accomplishing goals and targets of
hotel. I have enough knowledge and
capabilities that help me to perform well in this
There are various kind of threads under this job
profile which need to be managed. It is
challenging for every employee to work
according to needs and demands of
organisation. New technologies and techniques
are developing every day in the hospitality
sector so it is not easy for me to manage every
task. I will be starting working in hotel after
long time so it will be challenging for me to
accomplish my targets within specified time.

continuous training of the employees in cyber-security, and using firewalls and network

Health and safety
The main aim of hotel industry is to provide a safe and healthy environment for guests
and customers. I have managed to provide a positive environment to guests by providing them
good services and facilities (Kehn, M. and Et. Al., 2016). The policies of hotel are made in a way
so that guests and customers are given effective services.
Food Hygiene
The food provided to customers in hotel must be safe and healthy to consume. I have
applied Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points for analysing, locating and regulating hazards
which arise according to food provided to guests and customers.
Risk Management
There are several risks faced while working in hotel. Some of them are listed below-
Property Risk- Business faces property risk while operating in hospitality industry. I
ensure that all fire alarms, safety measures, CO2 cylinders are functioning properly.
Premises Risk- There is a risk of injury in the hospitality sector as there are a number of
guests who visits hotels (Pinkard, N. and Et. AL. , 2017).
Liquor Liability
There are many hotel businesses where selling of alcohol takes place. There is proper
management in hotel when an individual becomes tipsy or drunk it is responsibility of hotel to
ensure his safety.
Automotive liability
This hotel is providing valet service so there is a chance of automotive liability.
Transportation services are provided to guests and customers for airport.
Licensing
The different types of licenses in this hotel are used for ensuring effective operations and
activities of hotel. Some of the licences are Tax registration numbers, General business license,
Food Service and Safety License, Location Based Permits, Occupancy and Alarm Permits,
Procure and Liquor License and Entertainment or Broadcast License.
