Ltd. The company faced a legal lawsuit against them for providing buggy operating system to
the company XYZ Pty Ltd. The stakeholders in the case study along with the process by
which the stakeholders failed or applied the ethical approaches are provided in this report.

Discussion
Stakeholders
Mr. McBright: He applied the ethical decision making approach and approached Mrs.
McDonald with the warning about the buggy operating system and prevent the delivery of the
operating system to the client. The unethical approach would have been if he did not
approach Mrs. McDonald and approved the buggy operating system with knowledge.
Mrs. McDonald: Mrs. McDonald did not apply the ethical decision making approach
when she approved the buggy operating system and delivered that operating system to the
clients that led to the damage in the reputation of the company and a lawsuit was filed against
them.
XYZ Pty. Ltd.: The clients applied the ethical decision making approach and filed a
lawsuit against NewAge Pty Ltd.

Developers: The developers did not apply the ethical decision approach when they
approached Mr. McBright with the buggy operating system. The operating system needed to
be tested properly before delivering to the clients. It would have prevented the lawsuit that
was filed against them for delivering buggy operating system.
The ethical dilemma that was faced by the stakeholders is that whether to provide the
operating system to the client with bug in it. The operating system needed to be delivered to
the client with the bug to meet the project schedule and the project cost. The tester of the
operating system, Mr. McBright faced the dilemma of approaching the higher authority with
a warning about the bug in the operating system or to approve the operating system with the
bug. The issue of the manufacturing company was to provide the improved operating system
to the client and meet the project schedule and the project cost.
According to the consequence that the client and the manufacturer company is facing, it
would have been wise to extend the project deadline and provide the operating system to the
client after removing all the bugs and test it thoroughly. The operating system should not
have been approved by the tested by Mr. McBright and re-evaluation of the operating system
by the developers should be done to prevent any harm to the customers and the clients.
ACS Professional code of conduct
The first rule of the code states that interest of the public must be made a priority (Venables,
Tan & Pradhan, 2014). This requirement was violated in the case study as the manufacturing
company did not think about the consequence of the faulty operating system in the tablets of
the client and what harm it would do to the common public, who were the main consumers.
The second rule states that honesty must be maintained in the workplace and while
representing the skills or knowledge (McDermid, 2015). This rule was maintained by the

tester but the project manager did not maintain honesty with the clients and delivered the
buggy operating system to the client that harmed several common public.
The third rule states that any individual must work diligently and competently for the
stakeholders (Contakes, 2015). This rule was also violated by the manufacturing company as
they were incompetent in delivering the appropriate operating system to the clients in the
project schedule. As they could not meet the project schedule, it became necessary to deliver
the faulty operating system which led to serious harm to the common public.
The fourth rule states that the individuals must work towards the enhancement of the quality
of life of the people who are affected by the work of the individual (Burmeister, 2017). The
rule was also violated by Mrs. McDonald as she did not work towards the enhancement of the
subordinates of the company. Her negligence affected the employees who are working under
her and her lack of supervision and management skills affected the clients.
The fifth rule states that the individuals must work towards the enhancement of the
professional skills of their own and the staff of the company (Sanchez, 2014). The tester of
the operating system attempted to work for the enhancement of the staff and the manager
Mrs. McDonald did not work for the improvement of the staff of the company as she lacked
in the professional development skills and methods.
The sixth rule states that the ACS must be followed by every working individual (Shapiro,
Whittemore & Tsen, 2014). This rule was violated by the manufacturing company as the
company delivered the incorrect operating system to the clients that caused harm to the
common people.
Theories of ethical philosophy
The theory of ethical philosophy that can be applied is the virtue ethics. The virtue of Mr.
McBright was to do the right thing and rectify the faulty operating system prior delivering it

to the clients but the virtue of Mrs. McDonald was to deliver the faulty operating system to
upkeep the integrity and the reputation of the company and maintain a good relationship with
the clients.
