The new frameworks of health care, individuals create their own health in association with the professionals instead of more paternalistic and traditionalfocus of nurses contributing to the health of people. This is a basic change in the power associationsbetween patients or clients and the nurses and other health care providers. This requires a significant shift in the accountability in health care. Implementing such changes in thepowerand responsibilitybaseneedsnursesto acquireprofessionalskills and attitudesfor empoweringand collaborating with individuals in the community (Alligood, 2017). This reportwill deal with reflective analysis of personal and professional development of knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviors in the sector of adult nursing. There has been reference to the psychological and sociological theory in regards to theextent of maintaining own health and well-being in the firstyear of the programme. The analysis of thereflection has also been done on the basis of leadership skills. For analyzing the personal and professional development and have a reflective approach of the subject,Drsicoll’s model of reflection is taken into considered (Black, 2016). Main body Within the 2 years of extensive training and on field practice, I was highly motivated for getting my graduation andemployment with the care experience and become a registered nurse of adult care. I had undertaken the MSc degree that undertook 2 year of time.I chosenursing as a rewarding and exciting choice for career. I always considered nursing to be one of themost rewarding and exciting choice of career. It is one of the careers in which one can make positive and real contribution to the lives of people with short and long term health issues. Being a nurse has facilitated and provided me with a chance of developing my abilities, skills and behaviorby counteracting many challenges (Masters, 2015). According to the Driscoll model of reflection, in the present time, there are many changes in me that have assisted me being more empathetic and responsive to the needs of users, patients and other people who require health care. I happen to develop thesequalitiesas it is necessary for the patients as well as their families for being cared at equal levels (Laschinger et al., 2014).I
3 have also been able to develop my abilities in regards to make effective and timely interventions for health care.My experience in training and practice in health care has facilitated me in making very well informeddecisionswith high degree of confidence.By counteracting with various kinds of scenarios of health issues and patients sufferings from such diseases, I have developed my skills of making effective communication with both thepatients and their families and the other healthcare professionals. Previously at the time of my inception at work, I wasexperiencing a lot of dilemma and confusionregardingtheconductionofmydutiesandresponsibilitiesinthehealthcare organization. I was facing many contemporaryissuesin the provision of effective health care, identifying the key challengesthat can be considered for accounting according to the Nursing andMidwiferyCouncil(NMC)(LoBiondo-Wood&Haber,2017).Accordingtothe Functionalists approach, I also recognized the importance of maintaining a good personal while providing health care service to the patients and people in need.I realized a fact that ill health poses negative effecton the ability of the health care service providers such as nurses, doctors and other medical health practitioners. Being in an environment which is filled with patients suffering from various diseases, it is highly imperative to take care of own health in order to protect oneself from variousinfections. It was very challenging at the beginning ofthe programme asI had to dealwithmyhealthcare practice aswell asgetaccustomed to the new working environment. I took accountability of my ownhealth and starting incorporating a healthy lifestyle. I started incorporating physical exercises, proper diet and active lifestylefor the reason. These activities assisted me in keeping myself fit and healthy in the vulnerable environment. In accordance to the trait theory, incorporating a healthy lifestyle and choices by thehealth care professionals like me would motivate the patients and health care usersto live life on healthier terms.Such thoughts also encouraged me toadapt healthy living and lifestyle even if I was facing varying challenges (Regan, Laschinger & Wong, 2016). In my personal and professional development aspect, I happened to observe the application of transactional theory while providing adult health care. I observed thatafter I adopted a healthier lifestyle bad getting fit, it posed prominent and positive implications on the psychology of the patients and the other health users. They felt it motivated to get well soon and started being more concerned about their health. Considering such experiences in the health care scenario, I can
4 happen to state that I was able to motivate other individuals to lead a healthy and happy life (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2017). Conclusion By complying with theterms andregulations ofNursing andMidwiferyCouncil, I was providing health careand treatment to the patients in accordance to their priorityofhealth condition. Currently, I am able to provide patients as equal individuals and uphold individual dignity. I have been able to listens the requirements of people andact in accordance to their concerns and preferences in a more efficient manner.Further, I have been able to work in high effective partnerships inorder todeliver high quality of health care to the patients.I am able to ensure that the health, psychological, and social requirements of patients by paying them with enhanced attention. I have been able to do so by acting in association with the individuals, who receive care, assist them in gaining access to the social and health care, support and information when there is a requirement. I am also successful in maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of the health care of patients by ensuring them the patients’ rights to confidentiality and privacy.
