Concept of professional and personal development
Personal and professional development is an effective way to assess the skills and
abilities of individuals in order to make certain changes in their approach and maximize their
potential. The development is crucial for individuals to gain better opportunities and achieve
their objectives effectively. It is beneficial for people to enhance their productivity with the help
of PPD which aims at providing better assistance for achieving higher quality of output.
Identifying short-term goals
Short-term goals are beneficial for individuals in order to improve their focus and achieve
the long term target that are set by them. These short term goals are useful in avoiding
procrastination and providing people with a better routine to follow and increase their
performance. Improving my social skills under 2 weeks is a short-term goal that is identified by
me. This goal will help in connecting with my peers and superiors and gain benefit in the work
environment. I will start reading books from this week in order to develop knowledge about
different areas and concepts that are crucial for the overall development. Watching a
documentary on Saturday to gain knowledge about a person is another short term goal which is
highly effective.
Medium-term goals
The value of medium-term goals is that they are helpful in checking the progress of
individuals in achieving the aims and objectives. These medium term goals are helpful for people
to improve their consistency and the performance of these individuals towards performing the
specific tasks and gaining competitive advantage. Saving money for 6 months for buying a
vehicle is a medium term goal which will be useful for me to travel easily and gain better. It is
useful to save money and invest it into something productive. Completing a certificate in
marketing under the time frame of 3 months is another such goals which will help me to gain a
better understanding of the study. It will provide me with a better idea of the field I want to enter
in. Learning time management skills under the time frame of 4 months is yet another skill which
will help me to improve my efficiency in performing the crucial tasks and gaining benefit.
To identify long-term goals
Long-term goals are referred as the aims which adds value to the life of a person and
provides with assistance to the individuals to achieve their objectives. It develops a feeling of

accomplishment in people and help them to shape their career and future. Getting my dream job
as a marketing manager in a reputable organization in 2 years is a long term goals. Building a
better physique in 1 year is another long term goal that will help to work on my health and
fitness. Completing a master’s degree in 2 years is the long term goal which will help me to
achieve better opportunities in the future.
Personal Development Plan
A personal development plan is a document which contains specific aims and objectives
of individuals and the plan to achieve them appropriately. This plan of helpful in preparing the
strategy to achieve these goals which may have a positive impact on the success of the business.
It is crucial for people to prepare an appropriate PDP in order to achieve their goals effectively
and improve their overall performance which will help them to increase their motivation. It helps
in improving the existing skills and gaining new ones with the help of appropriate strategic
management of the development process.
