Copyright infringement has become worse in recent times, largely due to the popularity of online
trade of assignments. It has spiked across several UK-based educational institutions that 50,000
candidates were found plagiarizing during the last 3 years only. The above statistic may not
enable to illustrate the extent of the problem for all those undergraduates who plagiarized or
were not caught. Plagiarism is one of the serious and critical concern in terms of future academic
research studies. If a student is caught plagiarizing than it can have severe implications for future
career as an academic. In addition to the supervisory point of view, plagiarism also affects the
degree for which as a learner can discover during years of intense research. Eventually,
if someone manipulate through plagiarism on the cost of career than it can ruined the opportunity
to explore and experience subject to a particular topic. Some of common type of plagiarism are
direct plagiarism, self-plagiarism, Mosaic plagiarism and accidental plagiarism. In direct
plagiarism the sections are found word to word transcription with someone else’s work. In self-
plagiarism similar kind of work is submitted twice by student subject to same course of work
without having permission of another professor. When quotations marks and phrases are not used
while copying form the author’s text than it is considered as Mosaic plagiarism.
Ethics has been an enormous issue in modern business situation. A business owner is not really
measured by both the work he /she does, but also through his / her competence as well as
integrity. Ethics is an important element of student educational experience and it is anticipated
that all learners will conduct with academic integrity (Dahmen and Rodríguez, 2014). It is
assumed that perhaps the real work of the learner whose identity found on the documents are the
sources provided for such program. Academic integrity violations involve: fraud, copyright

infringement, illegal association, encouraging educational deceit, intrusion or disruption,
manufacturing, or retribution. At times, professors can include participants in activities provided
by external contributors to the institution (businesses, government entities or professional
associations) and provide students the opportunity to focus on actual-life issues. In such
programs, if participants steal, fact check, disprove or counterfeit information, donors may take
legal action toward the school (Gunnarsson, Kulesza and Pettersson, 2014). Such activities may
leads accused to fines, loss of having opportunity to take future projects from Universities or
litigation. These activities have severe penalties as they not only damage the university's image,
but also lead to future opportunities being denied to other students. The social academic
consequences also have become a serious concern in the form of rustication of student or
dismissing to submit the course of work for a specific time of period. The case of Janie state the
nature of academic integrity in business and finance. Janie was a biology student. She had to
move to the twin states where English language was not in touch to loyalist. It was hard to
understand the language and communcaticate with friends. At the time of examination, she
copied the text paper from another student due to not having a clear knowledge and
understanding of discussed topic. Due to this act of academic offence she obtained F in test.
Considering the case of Janie following responses were considered that it is common to having
difficulty in class while understanding the topics and subject properly but giving copied answers
on risk is recognised as academic offence and that will also affect in near future in practical

actions impact the nature and tendency of student. If such kind of actions would be repeated by
Janie while working in the real business environment than it not only impacts the business image
individual but also the whole community in a big question mark of lack of academic integrity
and professionalism. It also leads the organisation towards bearing heavy financial damages. So
considering these point of views it also matters.
Internet have played very curious role in both avoiding and enhancing the academic offences
(Dahmen and Rodríguez, 2014). The skills of forming own research study form books and
literatures has been extinct. Type of methods are available to avoid plagiarism and academic
offences which occurs due to illegal practice or activity of using someone else’s piece of work.
Critical thinking is one of the key and intellectual method to avoid plagiarism. Critical thinking
evolves the skills to analyse the particular subject in more synthetic and synchronised way. The

researcher would be beneficial by evaluating the concept and forming the content in own
language. Another method of reducing plagiarism is using the proper in texting of the quotation
with references in materials. Linking the phrases with own words is also an essential technique
that reduce the similarities in project. Paraphrasing is also a kind of plagiarism avoiding method
in which author’s statements or any information from other sources are changed with synonyms
and changed grammatical structure. Checking is one of the essential process to analyse whether
the text is not giving clear signs of plagiarism. There type of internet sources available through
which similarity to other contents can be detected.
