century, a large section of the global population is seen to be largely influenced by the
inappropriate social practices and that is petty evident with the practices various deadly
traditions (Shafer 2014). A massive section of the people are observed to be influenced with
the repetitive practices of such activities and that effectively invites major troubles in their
personal and professional life. The paper is focused in evaluating the concept of deadly
traditions with a precise focus on the context of the modern generation and it also argues
whether such practices should continue or not.
Discussion:
The concept of the deadly traditions is generally influenced by the cultural beliefs and
the traditions of a particular society. The influence of the vague social beliefs or the religious
assumptions which do not have any scientific base, is observed to be a major cause of the
deadly traditions. Shafer (2014) claimed that, even in the modern century where the presence
of the social media is significantly prominent, a certain section of the people are observed to
convert the religion as the business commodity. They intentionally influence the general
religious public so that they be inclined towards the practice of the religious activities. Tilby
(2013) claimed that, in majority of the cases, the people at the top of the hierarchy of the
religious groups influence the people for their own profit. It is observed that the religious
leaders convince their followers regarding the benefits that they are expected to achieve in

prohibited.
On the other hand, the various religious organizations claimed that the people are free
to practice their traditions and at the same time, it is an important social rights for the
individuals. Any sort of restrictions towards the effective occurrences of these practices can
be considered as violation of the basic human rights of the individuals. Tilby (2013) claimed
that the people in the modern century are free to practice any sort of cultural and traditional
practices. In addition to this, Okholm (2014) claimed that, it is important for the individuals
to recognize their roots an under such situation, the active participation of the individuals
becomes much needed. The religious belief of the individuals along with the practices of the
religious activities are observed to be largely linked with the well- being experiences
achieved by the people and under such situation, the forceful interruption from the part of the
regulatory authorities will create considerable amount of unrest amongst the general people.
In addition to this, the proactive interruption in the occurrences of these sorts of activities
have the potential of affecting the social belief and the values of the individuals. Though the
point of view is largely centred on the religious belief and social values of the people, it has
the capability to promote the occurrences of the deadly activities in the name of religious
rituals.
Having said that, the value of the human life is considerably higher than that of the
religious practices. With a precise focus on the impact of deadly traditions such as the New
Year's Dive, Firework Battle, Baby Dropping Ritual and Muharram, it is pretty evident that
the human suffering associated with these sort of activities is immense and at the same time,

sort of activities, the people have the possibility of sensing the impact of the troubles that are
associated with the deadly traditions. However, the effect of the superstitious belief and fake
claims on the life of the participants is notably detrimental. Hence, from the arguments of
unethical means of profit generation by the religious leaders and the calamity associated with
these sort of practices are significant in stating the destructiveness of the deadly traditions.

On a concluding note, it is understandable that a large section of the people even in
the 21st century are affected by the superstitious beliefs and vague social values and the
manipulation from the part of the religious leaders are influencing them in taking part in the

along with providing the scope to the religious leaders for generating higher profit by
spreading fake belief amongst the general people, are able to strongly highlight the necessity
of stopping the occurrences of these activities. Hence, it is pretty prominent that the practices
of these activities are in need to be stopped to maintain the sustainability of the society.
