Introduction
The CDC Get Smart Program Planner uses evaluation methods in conducting their
evaluation. The first evaluation method aims at finding out if the different priority outcomes of
the stakeholders were achieved. The second evaluation method focuses on campaign
implementation and exposure to media messages. The stakeholders influenced the evaluations
since they had different outcomes and views of conducting the assessments. The discussion
focuses on clinical-based education for patients and providers.
The type of evaluation used in the case study is the outcome design. The design evaluates
the priority outcomes of the stakeholders. The methodology used by the staff was to change the
content and delivery of materials to find out if patients read and comprehended the materials
(Väyrynen, 2012). Also, they measured patient-provider communication as a method of outcome
evaluation. The outcome design is appropriate for use in the case study. This is because the
outcome design delivered on the target outcomes. It indicated the provider-patient
communication level and the providers’ satisfaction with program materials.
The primary challenge experienced by the evaluators was on how to interpret the results.
The evaluators were not sure how to interpret the findings (Dick & Director, 2015). The role of
the stakeholders in the evaluation process was to provide input and interpret the results.
However, the stakeholders were not adequately involved in the evaluation process. There was no
significant input from the patients leading to lower satisfaction rates. Also, the clinic staff was
not fully utilized in providing health education.
