The speaker gave a lecture majorly on food production, population and how they relate.
In his explanation, he said that food is very essential to all creatures on earth and must be given
priority as no one can survive without food. The speaker further says that the world population is
growing too fast and as it grows the consumption of resources that support life also takes place
faster than it is regenerated (Cantor, 2018).
In his speech, the speaker argues that food consumption ought to go hand in hand with
food production thus the use 'food-waste-to-fuel-and-fertilizer-and –food' formula that entails
nitrogen, potassium, micronutrients, phosphorous and carbon that is termed as waste in cities
being changed to food through bio digestion, micro-livestock, and farming. He continued by
saying those safe and harmless ways of growing the economy the individuals should be taken
into consideration so as to improve the environment which will finally help in the growth of new
globes (Paul Dorosh, 2013).
The speaker came up with an idea on the scarcity model which he gave an explanation that this
model just gives an assumption that human wants and needs are unlimited and yet we are in the
world of limited resources. This assumption means that the world has inadequate production
resources to sustain endless human needs and wants.
According to his speech, he was trying to explain some of the major causes of scarcity in
food production where he said that less supply of water can really affect the food productivity in
that people from dry areas normally feel threatened by scarcity of food while on the other hand
people that come from areas with steady water supply do not get threatened by food scarcity
(Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 2018). The speaker relates to
