Subject Description
The
Project Management Capstone subject is a 10-unit postgraduate
subject designed to facilitate work-integrated learning in the student’s
current employment to be included in the volume of learning for the
student’s currently enrolled program. Like any other subject, there is an
expectation that the student will engage in 120 hours of active learning
above and beyond their normal employment duties. This subject requires
the student to undertake and document an original and new project that
will be sponsored by and benefit the employer as well as demonstrably
bridge the theoretical–praxis gap in the student’s knowledge. If approved,
the student will be allocated an academic supervisor who will support the
student in bridging knowledge and practice for the duration of the unit.
Assessment Suite
The assessment for the Project Management Capstone subject are
designed to ensure the student progressively adds to their knowledge,
integrating the activities of their Project Management Capstone into the
program-based learning. Assessment for this subject are based on the
following five assessment pieces:
 Assignment one – Project Plan
 Assignment two – Project Status Reports
 Assignment three – Project presentation
 Assignment four – Supervisor evaluation
 Assignment five – Final report

At the end of the subject, the student should be able to:
 Integrate working knowledge of major elements of their course
 Reflect on professionalism as it relates to contemporary work
environments
 Deliver a major project to the employer

Describe the business problem you propose to address
SIRRAJ Nig ltd is facing problems in keeping their assets in safe place.
The security process of the company is compromised as stored data are
not kept safe. The company is facing problems of loss of data as well as
information stolen from the computer. The manual security process of
the company is done through pin as well as password. Manual security
process causes breach of security, loss of important files, and lack of
protection of confidentiality along with availability of information. The
business problem stated require to change the manual process of
security so that they can provide accuracy of information as well as data
integrity. In the business, possible security threats occurred are identity
theft, theft of information and informational extortion. Therefore, online
safety is the first priority for the company.
Describe the current impact of the business problem to your employer
SIRRAJ Nig ltd is required a biometric authentication system which is
helpful to authenticate users based on fingerprints. The security
breaches in the business affect the business by leading to revenue loss.
IT security is a business problem and on high priority basis, it is required
to mitigate as it further leads to loss of company’s data. It also provides
impact on theft of valuable data as well as confidential data of SIRRAJ
Nig ltd related to their employees, customers and clients. It also impacts
the business operations by disrupting the phone as well as computer
networks. The data breach not only provides impact on employer, but it
also causes unwanted consequences to the customers as they are

dealing with identity theft and fraud credit card activities. Security
threat also causes inappropriate things as it takes away from the work
ethics as well as affect the business reputation. Therefore, SIRRAJ
Nigeria decides to solve the security threats by finding out a problem.
Describe how the employer will benefit from your proposed project
From the proposed project on design and implementation of biometric
authentication system (fingerprint), the employees can get authenticate
access to the electronic assets of the company. The user authentication
becomes sophisticated with design of the fingerprint biometric
authentication. The authentication process is a simple way to verify
identify of person using measurement of unique characteristics of the
body. It verifies the person based on body measurement. Through this
system, the employees are logged in to the phones and computers and
get access to stored data in those devices. It also helps the employer to
get data from the cloud. Development of the fingerprint biometric
system helps the company to meet with current organization needs of
information security. The organization decides to propose fingerprint
biometric authentication as it is more accurate than other techniques
and unique as no two same person should have similar fingerprint. It is
easier to use along with requires small storage space.
