Introduction
Paediatric care refers to a branch of medical care in which infants. children and adolescents
are treated for making their appropriate health condition (Takashima and et. al., 2019). In
context of this project Harry Tehrani who has problem of dislocation of radial head (proximal
radioulnar joint) with fracture of ulna requiring reduction in theatre. This assignment will focus on
role of RN with the considering NMBA registered nurse standards for practice. It will also include
role of RN for consent and reporting of paediatric patient.
Main Body
Consent
In case of Harry, role of RN for consent includes to follow the ethical practice of informed
consent while making decision of treatment to involve client in the same. It includes the criterion
of making client ware of available treatment practice in detail and takes their suggestion about
suitable one option to provide appropriate care for wellbeing of Harry. However, the role of RN
for mandatory reporting in paediatric care includes the criterion of making documents of relevant
procedures and outcomes of patient with the help of considering above mentioned standards
(Beattie and et. al., 2019). It is required to follow the factor of informed consent which plays an
important role to increase accuracy of treatment decision making for providing better quality of
care to making selected patient wellbeing (Axson and et. al., 2019).
In this, the main consent of the nurse is to think critically about the treatment required by the
patient and analyse the practice of nursing accordingly. It includes the criterion of accesses,
analyses and uses the best available evidence practices which contain research findings, for
safe and quality practice. It consists the way of developing practice via reflection on
experiences, information, actions, feelings and beliefs for determining how these shape
practice. RN should respects all the cultures and experiences that consist responding to family
members role along with community which underpin the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples & citizens belongs to different culture (Ossenberg, Mitchell and Henderson,
2019). RN complies all the regulations, legislation, policies, guidelines and other standards
while making appropriate decision of care. It consist standard of engaging client in therapeutic
and professional relationships. RN should formulate, sustain and conclude relation in a way
which can differentiate boundaries between personal and professional relationships. They
should effective communicate and pay respect regarding dignity, culture, values, beliefs and
rights of patient (Parry and Grant, 2016). RN should advocate in a way that respects autonomy

and legal capability of an individual. It is required for RN to use delegation, supervision,
coordination, consultations and referrals in professional relationship for improved outcomes. RN
is required foster culture of safety and learning for person centred care along with participation
that leads collaborative practice. They should report notifiable conduct of health professionals,
workers and others.
RN should respond timely to manage health of others and provide information & education
needs to enhance people’s control over health. They are required to use life-long learning
approach for continuing professional development along with accepting accountability for
actions, decision, behaviours and responsibilities of patients. RN is required to seek for review
and feedback to respond immediately and actively involve with profession along with promotion
integral role of nursing practice to influence better health outcomes (Cusack, 2015). RN should
carry out assessments which are holistic and culturally appropriately along with using range of
relevant technique to gain accurate information to inform practice. They should perform in
partnership to evaluate factor that potentially impact on health outcomes and assess the
resources available to inform planning.
Mandatory reporting
Considering the requirement of mandatory reporting, it has been analysed that mandatory
reporting is known as a legal need which should be fulfilled by care professionals while dealing
with Harry. It includes some of cases like child abuse or neglect that must be reported to
government authorities or police department which is mandatory for healthcare professionals
(Einboden, Rudge and Varcoe, 2019). However, it is observed that registered nurse can be
considered as legal mandatory notifiers to observe such situations among kids and report to
government authorities with the help of providing detailed information. Moreover, it has been
identified that if RN notice a child with abusive symptoms then they should evaluate the type of
abuse like physical, emotional, mental and sexual to immediate reporting to legal departments
about the specific case (Nouman and et. al., 2020). RN is required use assessment information &
best evidence available for developing accurate plan and construct planning collaboratively until
contingencies, option priorities, goals, actions, outcomes and timeframe agreed with relevant
persons. It includes the criterion of documents, evaluates and modify plans as per agreed
outcomes along with coordination resources in more effective as well as efficient manner (Terry,
and et. al., 2017).
RN should render comprehensive safe, quality practice and practises within their scope of
practice to fulfil actual care needs of patients to gain appropriate outcomes. It includes their role

of delegates aspects of practice to enrolled nurses and provide effective timely direction &
supervision to make sure that delegation practice is safe as well as correct. RN is required to
practises with respective policies, guidelines, standards and legislation along with utilising
processes to identify & report potential and actual risk system problems when practice is below
expected standards (Ossenberg, Dalton and Henderson, 2016). RN is required to evaluate and
monitor progress towards the expected goals & outcomes along with revising the plan based on
evaluation of Harry. It includes their role of determining, documenting and communication
further priorities, goals & outcomes with relevant persons.
The legislation which requires to be follow by registered nurse while providing treatment to
Harry includes Health Care Quality Improvement Act, (1986), according to which the hospitals
needs to determine and take corrective for health care professionals who might be found by
peer review to be involved in unprofessional or negligent conduct (Horner, 1990). Apart from
this, the federal Patient Self-Determination Act (PSDA, 1990) is the another act which mandates
that persons receiving medical care should be given written information regarding their rights
under state law in order to make decisions regarding medical care, involving the right to refuse
or accept medical or surgical treatment (Greco, and et. al., 1991).
Conclusion
From the above assignment, it has been concluded that a registered nurse is required to
use standards or care along with different legislation and regulations while dealing with clients in
paediatric care. It includes to follow ethics and guidelines effectively to make proper reporting by
making documents of patient treatment details and respective outcomes.
