Introduction
Research background
For every organization it is essential for management to adopt equality and diversity at
the workplace as through that they can develop and maintain effective working environment
which encourage and motivate employees. Equality is considered as situation when in a company
every employees are treated equally as well as they get equal growth opportunities without any
discrimination (Fisher and et. al., 2017). In addition to this diversity is determined as aspect
when a company hire employees from the different culture, location or religion as well as all
employees are treated equally. The organisation selected for this research is Tesco which is
introducted by Jack Cohen in 1919. Respective company is operating in the retail industry and
they offer products through supermarket, hypermarket, superstore and convenience shop. The
respective report is based on determining concept of equality and diversity and what is the
impact of workplace discrimination on performance.
Rationale of research
The main aim of conducting this research is to understand about equality and diversity
concept as well as it also include information related to impact of workplace discrimination on
performance of a company. In respect of this research able to enhance their understanding about
the equality and diversity and why it is essential in a company as well as it also help in
increasing knowledge about impact of workplace discrimination seen on the overall performance
of Tesco. Through this evaluation researcher able to understand these concept which also
increase their several skills such as communication, researcher, analytical and so on. These skills
will help researcher in conducting better research in future.

Literature review
To provide review regarding concept related to equality and diversity and its significance for
company.
According to the point of view of (Best and Kahn, 2016), it has been assess that for
organization, it is important to consider different issues or problems that is related to equality and
diversity such as gender pay gap is determined as a main issues or problem which must be
considered by top management. As per equality Act 2002, there are different types of regulation
that must be implemented by organization for avoiding any kind of legal proceeding by
government. It is helpful in making effective contribution by its staff member for increasing their
satisfaction level that is connected to the equal practices. In context of Tesco, the manager of
company focuses on bringing equality and Diversity within business organization and it is
important to increase the motivation level of employees during particular phase of time period.
And therefore, it is necessary to bring equality as well as diversity within business organization,
it is necessary to motivate individual person to perform different task and work in an appropriate
manner. In addition to this, it also influences employees to increase productivity and
performance level of company in future period of time. There are various importance of bring
equality and diversity within business organization which is necessary to implement and it will
be beneficial for company in future period of time.

As per the point of view of (Flick, 2018), the main purpose of equality and diversity
practices is to reduce the discrimination level within business organization. Therefore, the
discrimination with employees imposes adverse impact on performance and productivity level of
organization during particular phase of time period. If the manager of company do not provide
equal treatment to all staff member than they demotivate towards performing their work in an
appropriate manner that decreases productivity or performance level in future period of time.
Hence, the organization focuses on achieving goal and objective related to research in timely
manner. For this, it is necessary to eliminate workplace discrimination during particular phase of

According to the viewpoint of (Hennink, Hutter and Bailey, 2020), there are different
techniques and strategies which is implemented by organization for handling different kind of
issues that is connected to gender pay gap. The different kind of policy which is adopted by
organization that is related to medical leaves that assists employees in offering proper take care
of their family. It is important to bring positive ambience in company for conducting different
task and activities in an appropriate manner. Therefore, they make appropriate plan or strategy
for reducing workplace discrimination within business organization.

Research philosophy is considered as a belief regarding method in which data and
information regarding phenomenon should be collected, assessed and used in an appropriate
manner. There is different type of research philosophy such as pragmatism, positivism, realism
interpretivism. It is considered as a part of research that can assist researcher to collect all
relevant or important information in short the time of period. The detailed data and information
which is gathered that helps in achieving favorable outcome in future period of time. In this
assignment, the research adopts positivism research philosophy in order to complete the research
in an appropriate manner. This philosophy is considered as a more scientific and practical
method of collecting and gathering or presenting data in an appropriate manner it is also helpful

Research approach is considered as a plan that signifies the levels of wider assumption to
explain method of data collection, assessment as well as interpretation. There are two type of
research such as inductive and deductive approach for completing investigation in an appropriate
manner. But in current assignment, for present research deductive research approach is used for
completing research in better way. It is considered as a more logical procedure with facilitating
multiple assumption that help in achieving specific conclusion in order to complete research in
timely manner.

Research can be considered as a detailed study which is connected to assessing issues by
investigator by adopting various sources during particular phase of time period. Research
methodology assists in increasing the understanding level regarding various techniques that
assists in collecting data and information which is necessary for completing the research in
timely manner. There are two type of method of research named as quantitative and qualitative.
The quantitative method is connected with data and information that is in term of quality and to
be explained in term of certain qualitative information. There are different kinds of questions that
must be asked in order to target respondent and their responses is completely depend upon
conclusion which is drawn by investigator (Lindlof and Taylor, 2017). There are various kinds of
research that is adopted for gathering qualitative information like Focus Group, interview
method and many more. On the other hand quantitative method is adopted for the purpose of
gathering data and information in numerical form and in the form of graphs and charts. It is
considered as a method that assists gathering exact information in numerical form. There are

collecting information which is used in completing research in an appropriate manner.

Data Collection is considered as essential strategy and tactics for collection of information,
reviews, perception, diverse techniques and many more. Therefore, there are different sources
which are used by researcher in order to complete research in an appropriate manner. For

as questionnaire, survey and many more. If they collect data from secondary source then they use
different sources like books, libraries and magazines and many more that is helpful in

gathered by researcher or investigator which is not already collected by any other researcher for
completing its research. It is also determined as a first-hand data by using various types of tools
and techniques which is used for collecting information in an appropriate manner. The
information which is obtained from the primary source is considered as an authentic as well as
reliable and it is helpful in completing the research in an appropriate manner. Secondary data is a
kind of data which is already available and collected by any other researcher for completing its
research. The secondary data is collected by using books, libraries and many more In present
research both primary or secondary sources which is used for collecting data which will be
helpful in completing research and both these data are useful during particular phase of time
period ( Silverman, 2016). In current research, there is a use of questionnaire method for
collecting data and information from different respondents. In this method, the questions are
asked from respondents in order to gather information which will be helpful in completing
research in timely manner.
Sampling
Sampling is considered as an important component that helps investigator in collecting
the relevant data for achieving aim in timely manner. It has been assess that the researcher has
chosen random sampling method for achieving goal and objective. Herein, the investigator can
take 35 as a sample size by using random sampling method to know the responses which is given

strengths such as communication skill, research skill, understanding skill and many more. But
there are some skills which are my weakness and I need to improve it such as problem solving
skill, analysis skill, time management skill and so on. In addition to this, by conducting this

By conducting evaluation of above mentioned points it can be summarised that for a
