INTRODUCTION
Project management is use of specific knowledge, skills, techniques and tools that are used
to complete a particular project so that particular value can be delivered to customers. Each of
the project are unique and different from others but involves ongoing activities so that the
desired objectives can be achieved. There are four phases in project life cycle such as initiation,
planning, execution and closure that needs to be follow by the team member so that the
particular project can be successfully completed. Likewise, planning is one the essential
component of project management that helps in planning activities and resources that are
required to complete particular task in desired manner. At the same time management helps in
effective utilisation of available resources so that set objective can be attained. This report has
discussed about the planning and management aspects of project life cycle related to the
case study of “Birmingham Spur HS2 line”. Thus, the main purpose of report is to understand
the way project life cycle is plan and manage for getting best outcome.
MAIN BODY
The purpose of discussion to have knowledge about the aspects of planning and
management that are present in the project life cycle of Birmingham Spur HS2 line, United
Kingdom. In any project, there are various stages or steps that manager needs to undertake so
that the qualitative or effective services can be delivered to customers or goals of project can be
achieved in desired manner. Such as initiation, planning, integrating, executing, controlling and
monitoring and closure are five main stages of project life cycle that are implemented by the
project manager to accomplish the desired goals in minimum cost and time frame possible
(Ajam, 2018). The way each stages has been implemented in the case study or project of
Birmingham Spur HS2 line can be illustrate in detail as follow:
Project life cycle
1. Initiation: It is the first and foremost stages of project life cycle in which the project has
been initialised or started with a motivate to achieve the set objective in most effective
manner. Likewise, high speed 2 is planned and partly constructed high speed railway
network operating all over United Kingdom. Specially in London and Birmingham, it
will the second-high speed line after the first that will contribute in satisfying the wants
of tourist in more desirable manner. The project has been initially started through
