Introduction
The main objective of this project is to develop new health services and open new office at the
new location. With the help of this project, Crawford Healthcare Company can manage quality
of services and product. Project management helps to manage the company project activities and
different resources within a given time. This can be done through project management tools like
Network diagram and Gantt chart. The aim of this report is to construct the new office set up for
Crawford Healthcare and to provide the new services. However, the company has been working
in the UK health care industry which was established in 2009.
The report divides into two sections, one analyzes the project objectives and to gather the
different information on project activities. Meanwhile, another section demonstrates the project
planning and life cycle of the project. This can be done through a work breakdown structure
(WBS) and Gantt chart. This report also focuses on the different types of information that are
required while delivering the final project such as project metrics, project management, and
leadership tools. This report also discusses the different types of project risks and success factors
for the project.
The health sector has vast opportunities from the future perspective in the small and medium-
sized enterprises because different types of new skin diseases are affecting the skin in adverse
manner. Therefore, different types of new services and solutions can be created according to
patient needs and gain the good profits.
Crawford Healthcare Company has been working in the UK health care industry which was
established in 2009 and company was started with three individuals. The company deals in
health care products like wound care, skin care, and dermatology products. Meanwhile, the

company also delivers innovative treatments to their patients such as repair and care of the skin.
Crawford Healthcare Company made a profit of £25.2 million in 2017 (Real business, 2018).

Academic Literature Review
According to authors, Kozlowski and Matejun (2016), the project management’s characteristics
are utilized by the small and medium-sized enterprises to reduce the cost of present products and
these SME enterprises are launching new services and product’s facilities. The project
management’s characteristics (Operational management and Strategy management) should be
implemented on the basis of the possibilities and individual needs of specific SME enterprises.
The each phase of project life cycle should be implemented on the basis of comparative nature of
the small and medium-sized enterprises. On the other hand, Matejun identified the importance of
the project deliverable that should be implemented in the proper manner in the small and
medium-sized enterprises. In contrast, Kozlowski also stated that goals and vision of SME
should be linked to its new services and products. The arrangement and project planning phase is
utilizing to select the team members in the small and medium-sized enterprises. The project
evaluation and completion is utilizing to evaluate the different types of issues in the new services
and products of SME enterprises. Therefore, it can be said that the project management’s
characteristics are playing critical role to enhance the productivity and services of SME
enterprises.
According to Author, Brustbauer (2016), risk management is also another factor to complete the
project on time in the project management, so each and every small and medium-sized enterprise
should use the proper risk management technique to eliminate the different types of issues in the
business. The implementation of risk management approach is affecting the operational and
strategy management of small and medium-sized enterprises. With the help of risk management,
SME enterprises can easily identify the different types of issues and eliminate the effect of these
issues. In contrast, Brustbauer also stated that the SME enterprises can implement either passive

or active risk management approach on the basis of enterprise needs. Both risk management
approaches affects the operational management and strategy management of the SME enterprise.
The passive risk management approach is a defensive strategy and active risk management
approach is an offensive strategy. Brustbauer also stated that implement of conceptual risk
management can help to adjust the changing environment and gain the strategic benefits in the
SME enterprises. Therefore, it can be said that risk management is also playing the critical to
eliminate the different types of issues and manage the workflow of SME enterprises in the
effective manner.
According to authors, Marcella, and Rowley (2015), the project management’s tools and
techniques are utilizing in the numbers of small and medium-sized enterprises such as fashion
industry, small shops, etc. These tools and techniques (project life cycle, project deliverable, etc.)
are playing critical to manage the quality of the products and monitor the performance of the
enterprises. On the other hand, Rowley suggests that senior management support and clear
objectives are too most vital for the project management in the small and medium-sized
enterprises, but quality is very vital success factor as compared to the clear objectives in the
SME enterprises. In the contrast, Marcella also stated that the performance measurement
technique is also utilized to measure the performance of the small and medium-sized enterprises.
Therefore, performance management reinforced to the small and medium-sized enterprises for
setting up the corporate strategy. Marcella and Rowley also identified that numbers of SME take
very short time to establish its business with the help of the project management. It has
concluded from this paper that each tool and technique of project management can easily
monitor and control the performance and quality of the SME enterprises. The project

is divided into the four stages which are given below:
Initiation Phase
This phase plays a vital role in the project life cycle because the whole project work
depends on this phase. In this phase, a number of tasks are performed before the start of
the project such as identifying the scope of project, identifying numbers of issues (that
may affect the working of project), identifying the essential deliverables of project,
identifying the name of stakeholders or resources that will play important role in the
completion of task, etc. (Open text bc, 2019)
Planning Phase
The planning phase will execute after the completion of the previous stage. In this phase,
a proper plan is needed to prepare to set up a new office. This phase also outlines some
tasks such as the development of an appropriate strategy for the project, distribute jobs to
each member of project team, estimate total cost of whole project, gather required
resources for the project's work, analyze numbers of risk (that can affect the installation
of the new office and services of the company), etc. (Open text bc, 2019)
Execution of planning Phase
The implementation of the planning phase will execute after the completion of the
planning phase. In this phase, it’s important to gather project information that will help
accomplish the project on time. A number of tasks are finalized in this phase such as the

This is the last phase in the project's progress. In this phase, the tasks that are performed to
manage the project completion are completed such as analyzing the performance of project,
verifying the needs of the company's plan, documentation of the project development,
identifying numbers of issues in the installation of the new office, resolve all the problems and
the last step is to handover the project to the CEO. (Open text bc, 2019)
The whole process of the project life can be understood in the figure 2 which is provided in the
appendix.
Project Metrics
The project metrics is utilized to measure the project success. Project metrics can easily manage
the different project activities. This project metric contains different information like project
duration and costing of the project, project quality and project scope. These activities help the
project manager to accomplish the project goal in estimate time and cost. The project metric
table is given in an appendix.
Project Leadership Qualities
The project manager has a primary responsibility to complete the project work on the time and
achieve all the project goals. So, the project manager must have some essential leadership
qualities for completing the project on time and within the budget. The required leadership
qualities are discussed as below:
Communication
The project manager must have excellent communication skills so that he can easily
communicate with all project members. By using good communication skills, a project
manager should also take feedback from his project team (Marsh, 2018). This will help
him to complete the project on the given time and cost.

Sharing a Vision
The project manager must have a project vision i.e. to complete the project within the
time and the resources of the company. A manager should share the project vision to his
team so that the project can be completed with the given time and budget (Marsh, 2018).
Positive Attitude
The project manager must have a positive attitude to handle and manage the work of the
project in a proper manner. With the help of positive attitude, the project manager can
easily handle or face different project risks in an accurate way (2020 Project

Collective, Cool and Calm
The project manager must have a collective, relaxed and calm attitude when he is
managing the individual project. The project manager must not be panic if anything goes
wrong in the project development or in any specific task. He must find the best and
innovative solution to overcome or resolve that issue and put the project work back on

A great project manager must have an outstanding problem-solving quality and he must

The Milestone checklist is a tool used for tracking the progress of each and every stage of
in a project work, and project manager doesn’t need to utilize this expensive tool for
monitoring the progress of each and every stage of the project work of the company
(Tutorials point, 2018). The milestone checklist shows the flow of project completion of
each task, which is showed in figure 3 in the appendix
Pert Chart
The PERT chart method is used to identify the critical path of the project work. It shows
the project longest duration, which is required to complete the project on time (Tutorials
point, 2018). PERT chart is available in figure 5 of the appendix.
Gantt Chart
The Gantt chart depicts the graphical presentation of the different project activities. It
shows the different activities performed within the given time. The Gantt chart is a very
vital tool for project management. The Gantt chart also shows the different resources and
milestones used in the project. The Gantt chart is shown in the appendix (Haughey,
2019).
Product Breakdown Structure (PBS)
The Product breakdown structure shows the different project tasks within the project
duration. It helps to identify and find out the project activities predecessors. In other words,

There are numbers of common reasons for project failure and it generates disappointing results at
the time of project completion. Therefore, some common reasons must be avoided by each
project manager which is discussed below:
The scope of the project is not defined in a proper manner, and this is a big common
reason for project failure.
The project risks are not managed in a proper and adequate manner.
Incorrect cost and time estimation of the project.
The critical team member of the project has left the company or project.
The project parameters are not classified in the proper manner.
Formal methods aren’t utilized to manage the project work.
Bad leadership is one of the main reason for project failure (Symonds, 2011).
Impact of Project Failures on the Stakeholders of the project
The project failures are impacted on the project's stakeholders, and it will affect the completion
of the project. It will create confliction among all the stakeholder members, and due to
confliction, the project work will not finish on time. This condition will increase the total cost of
the project. Due to the cost increment of the project, the company will increase the price of the
product, and it will directly impact the customers of the company. Due to this, the revenue and
profit of the company will decrease, and customers will switch to another company. The project

these risks must be avoided by every project manager during the project, different project risks

Schedule risk: If any activity is taken a longer time as compared to the expectation then
this risk will delay the project work and enhance the cost of the project.
Performance risk: If the project is not producing results based on the project

identified in this project that are affecting the implementation of the project and delaying the
