2PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Introduction
MBFSA or Mobile Based Farmer Support Application is a new mobile application
proposed by Globex for assisting the farmers in gathering sufficient data regarding weather
conditions, crops grown, favorable conditions for growing crops and others. Accordingly,
Globex has instructed Virtucon to start working on the project and deliver the same within six
months.
Project Description
This project involves development of a mobile application with some specific features
described by Globex. The application needs to allow farmers and wholesalers to open their
personal account and add data to the database regarding crop generation, production, sales,
weather and others. They will also be able to download certain data that will assist them in their
activities like crop production, sales analysis and others.
Part 1: MOV
Desired Area of Impact
The desired areas of impact in terms of importance are shown as follows.
Strategy > Social > Customer > Operational > Financial
Value for the Project
The project value can be measured by the number of wholesalers and farmers using the
app for contributing and using data from the database. With increasing number of users, the
Document Page
3PROJECT MANAGEMENT
value of the project will also increase since it will generate revenue for Globex but will also help
the farmers.
Metric
An estimated metric for the project is that, of all the farmers residing in the target area, at
least 60-70% will download the application and use them within the next few months after
completion of the project.
Timeframe
The project is given a timeframe of 6 months for completion.
MOV Statement
With significant benefits for the farmers, wholesales and the government regarding data
handling and updating, Globex expects to generate revenue through the usage of the application
by a large number of users.
Part 2: Scope
Project Scope Definition
The scope of the project involves the development of MBFSA as proposed by Globex by
helping the farmers in collecting, gathering and contributing valuable farming related data. This
will also help other interested parties like the wholesalers and the government who need to
access the farming data.

Project Evaluation
Annotation 1: Marchewka, J. T. (2014). Information technology project
management. John Wiley & Sons.
The authors have expressed the importance of project evaluation phase in a project. They
said that during project planning, a specific phase is decided i.e. the project evaluation phase that
is generally conducted after the project is handed over by the team. In this project, the project is
evaluated and ensured that all the requirements are fulfilled before closing out.
Annotation 2: Verzuh, E. (2015). The fast forward MBA in project management.
John Wiley & Sons.
Verzuh (2015) reiterated the need for project evaluation phase in a project and said that
like any other events, projects need evaluation as well that allows the project manager to be sure

about its outcomes. All the project manager needs to do is review the project, complete a
checklist and close out the project after sign off.
Annotation 3: Kerzner, H. (2018). Project management best practices: Achieving
global excellence. John Wiley & Sons.
The author said that without project evaluation, the project cannot be officially signed off
as it would risk the credibility of the project manager himself. If a project error is detected during
evaluation, the team can be handed the responsibility for rechecking and rework but if the error
is detected later due to no evaluation phase, the project manager himself will be blamed for
casual approach.
