INTRODUCTION
Project management is the method by which planning, controlling, Implementing and to
terminating the work of team so that desired object can be achieve to reach toward the success.
This management tool is used to design the software so that production can be possible . In this
complete process explained from starting to end that means from production to sales. Software
designing project is used in this assignment which describes the principles, procedures, and
policies to influence the project from interpretation to compilation (Cleland and Ireland, 2006).
This board employs many methods and advent to start project, and nature of project decides
which approach is used for particular this project by viewing the needs and requirement of
culture, society etc.
STEPS FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT
This assignment focus on future terminology of software designing by which company
can reached on success by applying project management concept because this project include
many tools which helps any organisation to achieve the goal such are :-
If any organisation want to achieve prosperity than it is important to define the project
goal. Goal of software designing is like to make different software to complete any task
fast.
To identify the resources which are necessary in designing of software appropriate to
accomplish goal.
Budget is required for any project so it is necessary to determine the budget after seeing
requirement for new software.
Implement the planning and execute the plan.
After implement it is necessary to deliver the result so that feedback can received.
TOOLS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
There are many tools which are used in project planning so that it become easy for any
organisation to reach on the goal.
Gantt chart:- It is developed in 1917. this chart is famous project management bar chart which
track task when needed. This chart did not show the relationship between the task but it becomes
common to track time and interdependencies(Maylor, 2001) . It is important tool which is used for
1

showing the phases, milestones, and resources according to the requirement of project. Now this
chart become an industry standard. It is universally used for any type of project from
construction to software development( Larson and Gray, 2013).If the project is simple and small
in nature than we can create own Gantt charts in excel or download template of excel from
internet. If project has high financial risk and high financial value than the project manager can
use software tools such as MS project.
Logic network :- This network reveal the order of activity in software designing which is change
according to time. It can be used to identify the difficult path of project and milestone and
showing which action is reasonably anticipated or follow another activities. It will help us to
figure out assurance in project, timescale and its productivity. Important information and data can
acknowledge by using this technique which have omitted.
Milestone checklist:- it is best tool to determine the performance of employees to see the work
of employees that they are on right track or not. The manger of project did not use any expensive
software to identify the performance of employees because it can be possible through simple
excel template. Document of milestone checklist should be updated once or twice a week.
PERT chart:- The PERT abbreviated the program, evaluation and review technique, which is
developed by united states department of defense's US navy special project office in 1958. this
method helps to analysing the task which included in project completion when time is given or
have minimum time to complete the total project.
Project management software:- After the introduction of technology number of software are
developed for project management purpose . MS project is one of the tool which is liked by
project mangers and expanded to all over the world (Forsberg, K. M. and H Cotterman, H.,
2000). This software is used as standalone tool so that it become possible to track the progress of
project which are complex in nature. In future new software also updated than which is
beneficial for project management.
Work breakdown structure (WBS):- This concept is created by united state department of
defense (DOD) as the part of polarise mobile submarine- launched ballistic missile project. It
helps to break down the project so that work can be managed, scheduled, coasted to accomplish
the project at time. It is stratified division of the output necessity to complete a project.

PHASES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
There are five phases of project management which help to plan the design of software
from starting to end. Its life cycle provides high level view of the assignment to achieve the goal.
It is the application of skills, tools, knowledge and techniques to meet the requirement of
resources which are necessary for design.
Project initiation:- The goal of this phase is to define the design of software at voluminous level
and it start with business case. In this aspect project charter is developer and stakeholders are
identified. In this phase decision making team will identify that the design of software can
completed in real or not. The stage of project should start from the utility of software designing
and if project is feasible than it should be undertaken (Stevenson and Hojati, 2007). Intensity of
stakeholders decided that this software designing project should be continued or not. If green
light is given that means you will create a project charter or PID ( project initiation document)
which includes business needs, stakeholders and the business case.
Project planning:- By using this phase project plan is developed. It includes estimation of cost of
design for software, determination of resources and the scope and work breakdown structure are

defined. Scope of project may be put in writing, outlining so that it become easy to identify the
plan. This phase give priority to budget, schedule, and resources are required for software
designing. Two method which are used in project planning for setting goals are S.M.A.R.T. And
CLEAR. S.M.A.R.T technique is used to set any specific goal who, what, where, when, and
why. To use for measure the success of goal, to identify the most important goal is called
attainable, to willing to work toward any goal is realistic (Kerzner, 2013). To create a time frame
time to achieve particular goal. CLEAR goals techniques is defined as c means collaborative that
means to encourage employees toward goal by doing work together. L means limited scope and
time to manage project. E means emotional means employees have emotional connection with
goals. A means appreciable and r means refinable (Burke, 2013).
Project execution:- In this phase planning of software designing treated developed and
completed. This is good time to bring up important information which are related to project
(Hanisch and Wald, 2011). Teams are informed about their responsibilities through kick- off
meetings. Execution phase includes complete design of software, develop team, status meetings,
modification of project plans, update project schedule etc. encourage employees to point out
spots where problems is occurs and where improvement is needed.
Project performance:- This phase is used to measure the performance and progression of
software and ensuring that everything is going right or not which are assigned you. To determine
the project is going on right track or not KPIs (key performance indicators) is used. Five type of
KPIs is used to measured the performance of software designing which are projective objectives,
quality deliverables, effort and tracking of cost and performance of project.
Project closure::-This phase represents the completion of project or time to terminate the
process of software designing. After completion of software PM hold meeting to thank them for
their participation and for their effort and also identify the failure of designs (Morris, 2010). This
phase is helpful to improvement can be made in mistakes for future project. To perform the final
report on software designing and project budget is last work for completion of this project.
finally, collection of documents of software designing and deliverables is done and stored them
at single place.

IMPORTANCE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The idea of project management to design the software is most prominent in small as well
in large organisation. It is important because without any management in software company,
economy become false and difficult to develop design of software. When any organisation plan
an assignment than it required budget to perform the work of software designing than with the
help of venture management it may possible to manage cost of software so that expenses on
design of software will be reduced. Project management is important for software designing
because it ensures what is being delivered, is right and will deliver real value against the business
opportunities.1. Strategic alignment:- It is important because it ensures accuracy of assignment properly
so that they fit well within the spacious context of clients. Good project management in
software company assures that strategic goal of the business coordinate with the goals of
projects (Meredithl and Mantel,2011). The project management ensures that it is the part of
development because it helps business to complete the needs and reduce the cost of
company who engaged in the activity of software designing. If cost of newly software
will reduce it saves money and increase production of company which is beneficial for
profit in present and in future as well. Investment in another project in better way is
possible through project management.2. Leadership:- leadership is necessary for every business and project management brings
leadership and direction that which policy is used to design the software. Without project
management in any organisation , a team of any project can be like a ship without a
rudder. Moving but without direction, purpose, control. Leadership allows their employee
to do best work with vision , motivation, efficiently(Winter M. and et. al., 2006). Good
leadership in present motivate employee toward design the software in proper way and
follow all rules related to this project. Strong leadership make them to live for long time
in same organisation.3. Clear focus and objectives:- The project management help to complete focus on goal by
proper planning for executing on strategic goals. The target of software design is to
design such software which is different from all software and work fast without any error.
It is possible by breaking the team to remain focused on clear objectives, gear their effort

towards achieving the ultimate goals. Without any management the project could swiftly
falter but good management is focused team to achieve the desired goal or objectives
(Forsberg and Cotterman, 2000). Objectives or goals of organisation are not plan for one
year and two year. Planning of goal is for long term or up to the dissolution of any
company because to develop new software take time so that project management helps
organisation to achieve the success for long term. To earn benefit for present as well for
future is possible through proper planning of goal.4. Quality control:- It ensures quality of whatever being delivered, consistently hits the
mark. project are usually under pressure to complete in time at it may only possible when
project manager for team is appointed who has support and buy in of executive
management, strict schedules, task are underestimated, and rushed process. Project
management is key importance to quality assurance because it helps to create time for
teams to examine, allows for a staggered and phased process, testy their outputs at every
steps. If this technique is used in proper way than it beneficial for future project because
our documents are checked by quality and errors are rectified by team manager this give
clear and complete document for future evidence ( Winter M. and et.al., 2006).5. Risk management:- Project management is important to ensure the risk so that it can
properly manage and mitigated to avoid issues. To create the design of any software
includes so many risks like cost and market demands. Good management requires that
project manager analysis the risk carefully and make plan to reduce the risk. If risk factor
is not removed from any project it becomes difficult for organisation to deliver project
successfully (Gido Clements and Clements, 2014). Mistake in present about risk create
problem for future project because juniors also do the same mistakes as we did. For the
development of software risk management is necessary for present as well for future.6. Learning from success and failure:- To learn from success and failure from past for this
project management is important. It helps to control bad habits of doing wrong again and
again. Project managers checks the design of software and tell us about mistakes
( Wysocki, 2011). This technique teach us how to improve the mistakes so that next
project will become correct. This produce the valuable set of documents and do record of
“dos and don't s” going forward. The task administration call kick-off meetings to remind
6
Document Page
the team about failures such as underestimating projects and success such as benefit from
process and presentation. So regular checking of documents guides organisation for the
future success.
7. Orderly process:- It ensures project process which is followed throughout the project
cycle. The concept of this project for software designing is the right people do the right
things, at the right time. Proper process of designing the software helps to clarify
streamline, process , inputs, roles, anticipate risk etc. to ensure the project is added with
the overall strategy (Chou, 2011). Project management is important here because without
process in order create complication in understanding the particular project, risk of the
company, project failure and wastage of resources.
CONCLUSION
Project management is required in all type of organisation. This assignment which is
related to software designing guides organisation which type of policies, procedure, techniques,
tools are important for organisation . If any company follows project management in software
company it gives benefit for long time and easy for that organisation to achieved the desired
goal. Software designing needs proper planning because it is difficult task and it can be only
possible through project management. The primary challenge of project management is to
achieve goal of designing various software. The primary motive of task management are scope,
quality, budget, time. The second motive of PM is allocation and utilization of required resources
for design of software to meets the pre-defined objectives. For the Successful and incremental
development of software organisation required progressive and adaptive approach. Repeated
development in employment is not hard but changing in technology directly or indirectly effect
environment of business so it is important to used modern technique and new software.
