Changes are crucial components in every project. In project management it is necessary to
make changes in it so that it can be completed. Also, in future if there occurs any change due to
external or internal factors then process or method has to be changed. This is because it highly
impacts on overall project. Furthermore, changes ensure long term creation value of project
(Fewings and Henjewele, 2019). Without making changes, project can not be completed.
However, changes benefit in finding out loopholes and improving it. It enables in enhancing
project quality and managing it effectively. Change can be related to cost, time or scope. It can
also be categorised into two that is individual and organisation.
In given case study it is about implementation of construction project by Lyle project. There
are two teams working that include project manager, supervisors, etc. It can be analysed that
there are several issues which can lead to changes in project. First is ineffective communication
between Atlas and Lyle construction project team. This is because initially also Don Jung did not
properly communicate with functional departments. So, this lead to rise in other issues. The
changes that can occur is ineffective allocation of resources. Thus, activities will not be
completed on time. Apart from it, if purchasing department directly for inquiry the package may
be of low quality or not according to company standards. Also, it may be higher than budget of
project. As entire project is based on package its quality may be degraded.
The use of catalog can lead to inappropriate obtaining of information and data. So, this may
result in delay in project. The vendors selected by purchasing department may not be certified.
Furthermore, he was not operating as per company standard procedure. This can result in rise in
cost, delay in project, etc. another issue that can lead to change in over run of man hour. By this
entire schedule will be changed (Walker, 2015). It will also result in rise in cost. Beside this,
constant change in project team chart rise in issue of control over project.
Another issue that can arise in due to verbal communication between team’s information can
be misinterpreted. The members are not able to identify their actions. This can affect their
process of operation. This will change overall operational process from top to bottom. It results
in delay in project. For Lyle informal way of operating can create issues in which changes are
not implemented properly.
There is no particular procedure of operation. So, both teams are working in their own way
which can result in issues of delay or limiting scope of project.

So, in order to make these changes it is essential to follow specific process or strategies.
This is because it enables in making and implementing changes easily. Here, firstly proper
planning will be done in which both project manager will discuss that how activities are to be
done. Moreover, in that roles will be made clear and along with it communication process that
when they will meet. There should be clear and systematic way of communication which allows
manager to interact frequently. Hence, on basis of it changes will be identified and made within
project. Beside this, a specific organisational chart is designed which state who report to whom.
The chart can be modified by discussing it with departments. It will make it clear to project
manager that whom they have to coordinate. In order to review or approve drawing Lyle
engineers can view it within 1 week and make necessary changes in it. They can be approved at
same time from Lyle and then communicated to project team. The same day it could have been
sent to Atlay for approval. Hence, it will reduce extra time which is consumed by Lyle engineers.
Other than this, the team can work on Monday and Friday which will increase speed of project.
Assessing risk can be used to identify change. In that risk can be determined that is involved with
project. It will help in finding out its degree and how it can impact on project. Then, accordingly
proper measures can be taken. To solve way of operation, control process can be followed. It will
enable in controlling operational process and integrating it as one. By this it will be easy to
monitor process and make changes in it.
