This report presents a professional development plan for an individual aiming to become a web developer. It includes a SWOT analysis, short-term and long-term goals, strategies to overcome weaknesses, and opportunities to leverage for career growth. 1. INTRODUCTION TO THE REPORT
Professional development plan (PDP) is a formal means by which an individual set out
goals, strategies and outcomes of learning and training (Perry, 2017). Professional development
is learning to earn or maintain professional credentials such as academic degrees to formal
coursework, attending conferences and informal learning opportunities situated in practice. The
purpose of this report is to present an overview understanding of personal managements and
professional development. There will be brief explanations about myself, strengths, weakness,
my career goals, and also on how I will achieve my career goal and my career goal is to become
a web developer. In this report, I have planned and my career goal is to become web developer.
Web developed is one who create web pages and web based applications.
2. JUSTIFICATION & CONSTRUCTION OF SHORT TERM AND
LONGER TERM GOAL
Professional development plan is very important for an individual to achieve desire goals
and objectives of the career growth. It is a formal means from which a person normally working
with a mentor, teacher or supervisor sets out the goals, strategies and outcomes of learning and
training. It is very important that professional development plan should clearly specify the time
frames, activities and outcomes to meet the defined goals (McConnell, Delate and Newlon,
2015). Thus, in order to accomplish my career growth job, I have decided and developed a short
term goal which I must accomplish in order to help me growth as well as have a better
understanding on the field that I am interested i.e. web developer. But my first goal is to finish
my top degree with good marks and graduate with honours.
Here are may short-term and long-term goals which are as follows-
Shorts Term goal:
My short-term gaols will be completed in within one year as I have set deadline for all
my goals. My first aim is to pass my graduate in honours degree with good marks. For that I
have to manage mu time in very effectively. I am reading my course modules and related to
Information Technology books and I also want to lean languages like blue K, Java, Star UML
and C++. These are very important part of my semesters. According to the Niehaus and
Wegener, (2018) it is very essential for IT students to learn and understand the languages

because that have to make programmes to automate, manage analyse, collect, the data and
information in a correct way.
Long Term Goal:
My long term goal will be competed within in 5 years as I want to become one of the best
web developer. I want to make application relating to distributed network application or world
wide web that typically runs protocols such as HTTP from a web server to a client browser by
using connected programming languages such as Java, Star UML and C++. For achieving this
goal, I need to develop various skills and responsibilities which I will present in my professional
development plan.

3. PERSONAL SWOT ANALYSIS
Swot analysis is one of the best way to analyse the skills and weaknesses of an individual
or organisation as well as it also help to analyse the external opportunities and threats in the
surrounding. I have use swot analysis tools in order to achieve my desire goals.
Strength
My strength is that I am very good human being firstly which is very important for a
person. I am completing my graduation with honours and I am very sure that I will achieve good
marks because I am very focused and dedicated person. According to the ------------, for

achieving desired goals and objectives of like, it is very important that person should have
dedication and focus towards the achievement of goals and if person is not serious and dedicative
than it affects the effectiveness of the success. In addition to this, with my batch mates and my
teachers my relations are also very good as while making any project I used to play the role of a
coordinator as I am very good at making coordination at work. As per the Williams and et.al.,
(2016) it is important for student to have this skill because during graduation there are any
projects that have to be completed in group or team. Further, I am also felt that I have innovative
and attractive mind and that is the reason why I have chosen the field of web develop as web
developed needs creative mind. As Rischkowsky and Haile, (2016) said that, web developed are
the creates web based application and web pages that needs innovative and active mind. I am
also god at communication skills.
Weaknesses:
I am very disappointed with my some habits that have become my weaknesses and these
are also affecting my career growth. I am struggling in with my time management skills as I
cannot able to compete my work on time. As per the findings of Badr and et.al., (2016) time
management skills is must and necessitate for achieving desire goals and objectives as if this
skill is not present than it is not possible to be a remarkable web developer in the city. In
addition to this, I also lagging behind in writing skills which I need to develop because in
developing web based application, the work-flow includes collecting or developing the content
of web that needs effective writing and reading skills. According to the Bikowski and Vithanage,
(2016) in developing web based application, it is required the make layouts, images, content,
videos etc.
Opportunities:
For practising languages and other server programmes related to web developer. So, there
are many opportunities like coaching institutes, U-tubers for acquiring knowledge and
understanding of all these programming languages. So, by joining the coaching institutes I can
become fluent in the core web development scripting languages such as Java, C++. HTML, CSS
etc. This is the external opportunity which I have to develop my knowledge and understanding of
programming languages. As per the Strong and et.al., (2017) web developer without the

knowledge of languages is nothing. In addition to this, there are many job opportunities available
for web developers in UK such as Junior Developers, Web designers, Front End Developed,
Developer managers, Net web developer and many other jobs. On the other hand, I am good at
C++ language which is also one of the best opportunity to become a good web developer.
Williams, (2019) said that, As compare to others, C++ is one of the fast, efficient and powerful
language and it also provide brilliant concurrency support.
Threats:
Lack of time management skill has become threat for my career development and growth.
It is very important to have time management skill to achieve both long term and short term
goals. As per the Priefer, Kneisel and Taentzer, (2016) success is depended on time management
and if one do not value time than it is fact that I cannot achieve my goals without developing
time management skills.

4. STRATEGIES OR APPROACHES TO OVERCOME WEAKNESS,
THREAT AND RISKS.
According to the Modi and et.al., (2017) in order to achieve my goals it is very important
to set the approaches to overcome the weaknesses, threat and risk because these weaknesses and
threat hinders the achievement of goals and objectives. For improving my biggest weakness that
is Lack of time management skills. Thus, in order to develop this skill, I have made some
approaches and strategies which are as follows-
Starts the day with clear focus: This is one of the best way to avoid delays as time is very
precious. Thus, in order to achieve the set target that what I need to achieve absolutely.
Set the priority to important work: After that, I also make the important task to priority
that what I need to do and achieve like spendings time in class, on videos, or any other task. So
that I can evaluate my precious time for important task.
Remove interruptions: After setting priority, it becomes easy to minimise the
interruptions that makes the work delay and hinders in achievement of success. As per the Lauer
and Brumberger, (2017) the more uninterrupted time a person get during the day to work on
essential activities, the more effective a person will be. For example, avoiding talking in class,
checking messages etc.
5. OPPORTUNITIES THAT CAN BE USED OR CAPTURED.
As per Krasnov and Ladonkina, (2017) opportunities are available but it is valuable only
if a person grab on time. It is very important that for professional development, person should
focus on taking opportunities on time in order to gain the competitive advantages and have the
best result in the semesters. In my first and second semester I can achieve god marks by having
good knowledge in C++. I can make my project best and C++ is one of the fast, efficient and
powerful language and it also provides brilliant concurrency support which is beneficial for me.
On the other hand, to achieve the long term objective i.e. is to become a web developer, there are
many coaching institutes are available as well as U-tubers are also there who are delivering
knowledge about the programming languages.

6. CONCLUSION
The above report comes to the conclusion that Professional development is very
important part of every person life. It is learning to earn or maintain professional credentials such
as academic degrees to formal coursework, attending conferences and informal learning
opportunities situated in practice. Furthermore, report also summarised that, time management
skills is must and necessitate for achieving desire goals and objectives as if this skill is not
present than it is not possible to be a remarkable web developer in the city. Moreover, the best
strategy that is included in this assessment was to prioritize the important task and remove the
interruptions to develop time management skills effectively.
