INTRODUCTION
Project management is a tool that is used t gain special knowledge, skills and work with
different techniques to attain the outcomes that creates value for people associated with the
project. Every project works with a unique approach with difference in the operations conducted
on routine basis. It includes the ongoing activities in an organisation while the project reaches the
main conclusion and achievement of the goal (Demirkesen, and Ozorhon, 2017). Project
initiation document is a guide that lays out justification and rationale for the ongoing project
along with helping to keep it organised. This document is beneficial in ensuring the project is
going in the right direction. This report deals with the investigation of the project for Salisbury
house where the University of Wales Trinity Saint David for London based campus is expanding
to new building.
MAIN BODY
Project objectives
In this project, objectives of the project results in producing the specific and tangible
outcomes that will lead to better delivery of the ongoing project. It helps in identifying and
describing various actions that will contribute towards the deliverables while putting all the
activities in working together. These objectives give broader sense of what is supposed to be
achieved. The objectives for this project are to expand the operations of the University to another
building because of the growing student population. This new building is supposed to be set up
near the man building of the University ad will provide many facilities for the students.
Project assumptions
It is about assuming about various factors that are related with the project and are
considered to be true, real and certain without having any proof or any form of demonstration. It
is important to make certain assumptions to make the project work on track (Ika, and et.al.,
2020). The list of project assumptions for this project is to have a double check on prior basis of
beginning the project. These assumptions can be prove wrong at any point of time and thus, it is
critical to get knowledge of the assumptions and identifying it in the project planning phase. It is
not possible to start a project without having any assumptions. The project assumptions for this
project includes having access to all the resources that are required to complete the project,

Risks
Every project has some risks associated with it that can be minor or can make the project
a complete failure. It is important to identify risks during a project as well as it requires skills and
careful planning to take better decision for the project. Identification and mitigation of risks is
very important for the completion of the project. Properly managed risks will help in attaining
higher profits and building relations with the clients along with the opportunity of expansion.
Some of risks associated with the project of building expansion for University of Wales are:
Labor shortages and productivity issues:
There are not enough labors for completing the work on time. Due to this, the
productivity of the work will be influenced at huge amount while taking on new projects. With
less man power, the project will suffer from longer schedules for completing the project along
with potential delays for delivering the project on time. Labor shortages will lead to lesser
production while it will require a closure supervision at the beginning.
Health and safety hazards:
Keeping all the individuals involved with the project in safe condition is the topmost
priority for the University but some construction work can be hard that can cause harm to its
employees. The conditions present in the site can change during any point of time and are much
unexpected. Major accidents occurring at this site will result in some serious injuries causing to
some serious accidents for the workers (Wu, and et.al., 2021). Project is made in accident- free
way that will ensure that each worker to work safely and hazard free. Harm to worker from the
tasks of this project will lead to destroy the image of the organization while also decreasing the
morale of the other employees working there. It even put the organization in huge financial risks
as there will be some costs associated while dealing with the accident and the after math of the
case. It is important to make sure that the contractors of the project are having the understanding
of looking after safety and providing the employees with proper training to the employees.
Technological risks:
It includes the different areas involved in running a project while producing some
complex form of deliverables with the use of advanced technologies. These technical areas in the
project will possess a major threat towards the security of the data, compliance along with the
information security. Risks related with the technology have become very challenging along with
implementing new programs associated with information technology. This will require some
Document Page
form of personal training and software acquisition that will lead to service outages leading to
delays and failure in project.
Cost risk:
There can be shortage of the funds that are set for the project completion (Armenia, and
et.al., 2019). This is because of the rise in budget and along with some constraints that might
cause threat of failure for the project. Higher cost of the project will from many challenges in the
budget management of the company along with the risk of shifting of different operations of the
projects and the workforce segments. Reduction in the fund areas will contribute to occurrence
of shifting the scope of the project.
Risk mitigation strategy
The strategy for mitigating the risks is very important as it will anticipate the
consequences of these risks. These strategies will help in identifying as well as monitoring the
risks and consequences of the risks present in the project. Risks mitigation strategy helps in
putting the action in place along with dealing with issues that will have an effect on the project.
Assume and accept the risk:
It includes collaborating with the different team members of the project while identifying
the possible risks present in the project. These consequences from the risks are acceptable and
assume about the possible vulnerabilities present in the risk (San Cristóbal, and et.al., 2018). In
the technological risk, the consequences of having a delay in the project are assumed and are
accepted. This strategy for risk mitigation is mainly used for identifying as well as understanding
the risks that will affect the project and its desired outcome.
Controlling risks:
Controlling strategy will work by taking into account all the risks that are identified and
accepted while taking appropriate action towards reducing the risks. Controlling the risk to costs
helps in detecting various issues related with the budget of the project. Controlling the risks helps
in leads the process of decision- making related with the funding activities of the project. This
strategy will help in ensuring the process of how the funds will be delegated while going over the
set budget.
Transference of the risk:
It is possible to transferring the consequences of some risks from some viable strategy.
The strain of risk and its associated consequences are transferred to another party that will handle

all the drawbacks. This strategy is very helpful for mitigating the risk of hazards and safety in the
workplace. The project will hire a security team to act as a third party to handle the safety in the
area of work.
