Project summary
Project name: RICA coffee shop
Project start date: 4th April 2020
Project end date: 4th June 2020
Project goal: The main goal of this project plan is the preparation of opening a coffee shop in
Phnom Penh area
Project location: Phnom Penh CBD
Project Need: The coffee shop is planned to be a nice place where friends and family, coworkers
and other professionals could meet for distressing. The shop is planned to offer all in one service
consisting of variety of books, arcade games and lots of vouchers and good discounts to attract
large customer base within Phnom Penh
Project description: The coffee shop is envisioned to suit all customers who want a new
experience of well blended high quality coffee. The shop is estimated to occupy about 40 square
feet with a well fitted sitting area with tables which is planned to host upto 50 customers. The
shop is also envisioned to provide free wifi, books and other arcade games.
Project budget: The estimated initial cost is 879180456.40 Cambodian riel
Success criteria: The project is deemed successful as the launch date is 4th June 2020 so as it
can be operational through summer.

1. Project scope
1.1. Business Need
Phnom Penh is traditionally a luxity of Cambodia and is quite famous for quality brewed coffee.
Thus the RICA coffee shop is planned to establish a frequently visited place in the city to meet
the demand of the locals for better quality coffee (Marchbanks & Owens, 2011). The shop is
planned in a well serene environment to offer friends, family and coworkers a refreshing joint of

distress from the day's activities. The RICA shop will occupy a special niche in the market as it
will offer additional after sale services currently not witnessed in the city
1.2. Opportunity Statement
Statistical data have been analysed and shows great opportunity lies for the RICA coffee shop
start up. According to (Turner, 2016), about two thirds consume coffee or do make their
purchases in a coffee shop. Another report by (Too & Weaver, 2014) states that approximately
20% of those purchasers prefer coffee shops that offer unique products. The project research
team did further conduct research on the demand for coffee among different age groups with
focus on the youth and they did receive very positive feedback . The analysis of the research data
shows there are quite few coffee shops within the city. With such great opportunity, the RICA
coffee shop has been initialised.
1.3. Project Goals
The main goal of the project is to lease a premise and set up a coffee shop with the required
assets and decorations
1.4. Project objectives
The main objectives for RICA coffee shop during its first year of operation are :
● To get the rank of the best forum for websites and forums for foods and drinks
● To win the award of the best coffee shop in Phnom Penh
● To achieve profits as from the third month of its operations
● To maintain the profit margins 65% and above annually
1.5. Project benefits
The following will be realised from the project
● It will help promote the unique coffee types and drinks
● To bring the historical cambodia culture to the city
● Provide comfortable place for customer to have drinks and meeting

1.8. Project deliverables
The coffee shop will be up and running for the customers from 4th June 2020. The shop will
remain open for 7 days a week from 7am in the morning to 9pm and 12pm on the weekends
days
1.9. Project stakeholders
Various internal and external stakeholders will be involved with the project. Internal
stakeholders are those involved in the day to day running of the key business operations while
the external are not internally involved with the business but their role affects the business
significantly (Meredith et al., 2017). Detail register is in the Appendix C
2. Project Planning
2.1. Project Integration Management
Project integration is a critical step in project planning and involves all the processes that work
together to coordinate the project to meet its desired goals. The main task of the integration
management is coming up with a plan (Fleming & Koppelman, 2016). In addition, activities such
as communication, team contracting are done at this stage by the coordinator.
2.2. Project Work Breakdown Structure
Work breakdown structure is one of the key elements of a good project plan as it is used to
subdivide the scope of work into very small and manageable packages which one can provide

some estimates, plan around and be planned and controlled in a good manner (Wysocki, 2011).
The detailed WBS for RICA coffee shop is in Appendix B.
2.3. Project Time Management
To ensure a project gets completed on time, all the tasks must be done within a specified time
span and must be planned in advance otherwise, it will bring in more costs which are normally
associated with late delivery of the project (Rosenau & Githens, 2011). The schedule for the
RICA coffee shop in approximately 2 months and a more detailed analysis is as shown in the
Gantt chart on Appendix A.
2.4. Cost Management
The estimated total funds required to kickstart the project is about 879180456.40 Cambodian riel
The detailed cash flow is detailed in Appendix 6.
2.5. Project Risk Management
Success of a project depends greatly how one manages risk. For the RICA coffee shop to be a
success, risk must be identified early and contingency plans established beforehand (De Bakker
et al., 2010). A detailed risk management framework for the project is included in Appendix 10.
2.6. Project Closure
The project shall be closed on 4th June 202. Upon closure, a detailed report shall be done by the
project manager to give details of the work undertaken. The shop shall be opened to the public
on 5th June 2020.
