INTRODUCTIONProject Management refers to planning, managing and organising the effort to attain asuccessful project. It is the application of skills, knowledge, techniques and tools to projectactivities in order to meet its requirements (Alsudiri, Al-Karaghouli and Eldabi, 2013). In thepresent assignment, chosen organisation is Morgan Sindall Group plc which is a constructioncompany headquartered in London. The main purpose of developing this project is to develop aproject initiation document to deliver an office move. It covers project overview, itscharacteristics, role of project manager and application of methodologies and theoreticalframeworks. Apart from this, a project management plan is developed in which some measuresto monitor and control project risk, change and configuration, quality are defined. At last,success and failure of project is evaluated in this report. TASK 1. Define a project, its characteristics and the role of the project managerA project refers to the temporary endeavour that is undertaken to develop a unique result,product or service. It involves series of tasks that requires to be completed to reach a particularoutcome. Morgan Sindall Group plc is a United Kingdom based construction company which isheadquartered in London. The firm was established in year 1977 and offers constructionservices to their clients. It is one of the leading construction and regeneration group of UK whichis operating in commercial and public sectors (Conforto and et. al., 2016). The company wants torelocate its office and for this specific purpose, a project manager has been appointed by firm fora project to deliver an office move. Project Title: “Office Relocation”Background: This project is develop with the purpose of relocating office. MorganSindall Group plc wants to relocate its office. The main reason of moving office is to increasedepartments within firm and for this, it is require to maximise the work space as staff is alsoincrease. For relocating the office, it is required by project manager to identify a new locationwhich is fit for the purpose. In order to initiate this project, various prerequisites needs to befulfil by manager including availability of adequate amount of resources, legal requirements etc.It is also require to coordinate with team members so as to produce the expected outcomes. 1
