Executive Summary
Process of development, execution, planning and management of the project is basically
managing by executives of the project and management of the project is implementing entire
aspects related to it. This study is based on essentials of project management which will be
evaluating best OS program for management of the HULL smart city in suitable manner.
Estimated cost of the smart city is approx. 87.85 million pound and this IT project will include
Connexin, Cisco and various representatives in this respect. Besides from this city have
population of about more than 250000 and various IT industries which are numbered as twelve
separate phased for implementing smart OS program for sustainability of HULL city. Standards
of living, service level, better economy, education and management of the better lifestyle are the
main priorities of the HULL smart city project. Hence, all stakeholders and process of
monitoring the project executive are helpful for meeting the goals and objectives and get success.

INTRODUCTION
Project management refers to the optimum utilization of knowledge, tools, skills and
techniques for delivering some value to the people. Development of the software for the
improved process of business, building of the construction, efforts of relief after natural disaster,
expansion of sales in the geographic places are examples of projects. It is application of
experience, methods, skills and procedures for achieving the project objectives. Its knowledge
regarding the projects, controlling, planning and reviewing. It has the final deliverable which are
constrained to finite budget and timescale. Project have the unique operations set which aim for
completing the goals and it is unique, that it is not routine operation of business (Alghail and et,
al., 2021). Project have specific resources and scope and also particular beginning and end.
Throughout the history of human beings, project management is practiced in an informal way,
but started to emerge as the separate profession in 20th century, when the forward thinking
peoples group from aerospace, pharmaceutical, engineering and telecommunications fields
realized the changing world requires new tools. Motivated by the need for addressing the
schedule and issues of resources related with increasing complicated projects. It involves
planning and organization of resources for moving the particular activity, event and duty for
accomplishing it. It may involve one-time project or ongoing project activity and resource
management consisting of finance, personnel, technology and intellectual property. This project
report is made in context of UKs next smart city HULL which has made significant progress in
roads over the last year. They got award for providing smart solutions for reducing the traffic
congestion. The city has started the most ambitious project of creating the Smart Operating
System (OS) for city. This project will demonstrate the development of report for Smart City OS
by the leveraging of concepts and techniques of project management.

Essential skills
A project manager needs many essential skills which are very helpful in the successful
management of the project (Aslam, Gao and Smith, 2020). Here are some of the vital skills

which are needed by the project executives of Hull Smart City for effective management of
project-
Effective communication- From the kick offs of project to the meetings of
stakeholders, executives of project regularly communicate. According to a research
90% of the of Hull Smart City projects mangers time is spent on communication.
Hence they are required exceptional skills of communication for leading the project
successfully to completion. Poor communication may lead to missing of deadlines
and inefficiency of delivering the Smart City project on time.
Negotiation- Leading the project means management of resources, engagement with
suppliers, to deal with conflicts of team which come under negotiation. An effective
manager of project is a skilful negotiator having ability for keeping concerned parties
motivated for working towards the common goal all time. Resources, budget and
timeline may become adverse if manager is not able to handle the situations arising

management. So, of executive of project is adept at juggling many schedules and
anticipate blocks even before their happening, for enhancing the chances of
successful projects delivering. Common cause of project failure involves the poorly
planning and consists of priority changing in the firm. Time management is the
valuable skill for project management.
Leadership- While managing the project or team, it is vital for having strong skills
of leadership. By effectively guiding, coaching and motivating co-workers, executive
may aid to move the project forward and deliver the positive result. Strong leaders
foster the productive environment of work by regular communication with the teams
and aid the employees for developing the significant skills of project management

impactful by learning to delegate the tasks, give constructive feedback, set objectives
