PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Introduction
In order to succeed in life, humans perform a lot of work. The process of developing a self-
reflective learning skill is necessary to analyze and learn from the mistakes of life. It is of great
help in the process of thinking critically and asses an experience based on applied innovation.
Here I will discuss the process of selecting the project based on the Renovation of the Old
beachside cottage and will also share my related experiences of working in the same as a project
manager (Burke, 2013).While handling my daily managerial duties, I was able to see some flaws
and non-implementation of the project management theory in certain areas of the project. The
flaws involved my failure of not communicating in an effective way alongside I was not very
well off with understanding and recognizing the stakeholder's that further led to the crippling of
the process that was related to the development of an effective work breakdown structure. In the
forthcoming paragraph, I will hereby describe my journey in project managing the renovation
process in detail as a project manager.
Discussion
The good decision-making process is the main concepts of a project, and we make up goal based
decisions on the basis of majority. New ideas are collected for the sole purpose of project
implementation after considering the opinions of the individual team members by the
initialization of framework policies. This decision-making process is regulated by our group
keeping in mind the application of innovation subject and incorporates them in the first task of
rendering innovative proposal to the renovation work project (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017).
Application of innovative idea helps in the collection and research of more information and helps
in the process of generating options and selecting the best result oriented ideas. The renovation
project needs proper desiccation of the job roles any malfunction of the given job role on a given
team member part can lead to the failure of getting the job done in the stipulated time schedule
and can lead to more budget involvement than the estimated value. Hence, it is important while
working in the renovation industry to make some ground rules and then divide the job roles
amongst the members (Meredith and Mantel, 2011).

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The next challenging step in the process of drawing an outline plan to renovate the old beachside
cottage by my firm was the implementation of innovative ideas to reduce both workload and
induce cost efficiency. The whole process was divided into two main steps that include the
setting of a timeline stipulated framework and to make an estimation of the requirement for each
section of the project (Baroudi and Rapp, 2012). The requirement part involves an introduction
of the organization along with the services that are to be provided. It also includes a proper WBS
and RACI chart accompanied by a Gantt chart. It will also feature an activity node along with the
resource leveling and budget estimation. Drawing a timeline is also important as it will help in
the induction of a target based on the goals set. A proper progress report, along with a risk and
change management plan, is also provided in the project details. Lastly, assessment of strength
and the weaknesses along with the threats and opportunities are to be included this will further
help in the understanding the needs of the stakeholder's in an apt and efficient way (Pellegrinelli,
2011).
It is important that I assess the strength and weakness quotient of working both as a team
member /manager and with varied teammates. In doing so, I found that an essential point that can
be considered as strength in our group is the upholding of very strong communication skills and
maintaining a clear and effective line of thinking that further paves the way toward the smooth
flow of the informatics from one member to another. This is something that, according to
Tihinen et al. (2011), to induce a sense of responsibility and an on-time approach while
delivering renovative services on the part of working as a team. Emphasis is laid on the perfect
representation of final acceptable report structure, or line of action is only done after repeated
times of scrutinizing and analyzing the statistics by our team, including me.
In terms of weakness, it will not be wrong to say that renovation of this scale do involve huge
skilled labor that in turn increases the cost to company and sometimes as most of the renovations
work are done on the older pieces of art and culture so I have to take certain precautions to
reduce the human errors that can further lead to some political issues. As these artifacts are one
or the other way related to religious or personal sentiments of the visitors and the concerned
management authorities (Crawford, 2014).

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Apart from the above-mentioned pro and cons, it would say that this project will offer a great
opportunity for our company to grow as a brand, alongside it will also help us understand the
various technological innovations and different managerial aspects.
The main lesson that I learned from this renovation process is the way of working with a group
by maintaining a constant flow of information that includes ideas from both the management and
subordinate sectors. There has been a considerable amount of increase in the presentation skills,
and, I have now learned to induce efficiency in the work process by understanding the elements
of the work in a better and cost-efficient way (Kusler, 2012).
Conclusion
It will be good to conclude that I have grown pretty much in terms of understanding and
eradicating the issues that are identified in the discussion. I was able to underline the problems
that I as a project manager was unable to implement in the project management process. I made
it possible through discovering related theories and then applying them in my project based on
my experiences in the second part of the assignment task. There has been a considerable amount
of improvement in my understandings along with the up gradation in the knowledge base that
increased my efficiency in doing the right things at right times. I also learned the use of various
business estimation, and project analysis tools like those of the developing an effective WBS
along with the better handling of the stakeholders by a considerable amount of improvement in
the fields of communication aided by proper documentation using the PMBoK principles. Now I
am confident enough that with my earlier learning experience as a project manager, I have
become more efficient and satisfied in terms of managing a future project with less amount of
error quotient in them.
