ITC505 – Assignment 1 – Project Management Methodologies <<STUDENT ID>>
1. Project Management Methodology Definitions
1 This approach is well-defined as a procedure which is theoretic and methodical
exploration of practical approaches in any investigation. It delivers a theoretic
exploration of any research and also related with a section of knowledge
2 It is also known as a research approach that offers a mode in which exploration of data
of evidence is to be accepted (Hornstein, 2015). A methodology is a method which is
used by project management to inquiry, preparation, and attains their aims and
objectives.
3 As per PMI panel methodology is well-defined as a procedure of method performs, and
instructions which are used by project executives, and workers of any association or
industry.
2. Role of Project Management Methodology in Project Management
1 o The word methodology shows a significant part in project management because
it offers a stage to calculate, organize and attain aim or objective in every
managing system.
2 o Many executives or project workforces use the methodology in project
management because it offers a theoretic computing of any exploration idea
(Joslin & Müller, 2015).
3. Comparing and Contrasting chosen two methodologies
<< SDLC methodology >> << Waterfall methodology >>
o It divides the development process
into mid sections.
o It divides the development process into
phases
o It follows an incremental process o It is a sequential design approach
o It is a flexible process o It is quite a rigid process
o It is a group of many projects o It is a single project
o Requirements can be changed in
midway if it is not fulfilling the need
o The process cannot change once the
development method begin
o The plan can be reviewed after each o The test plan is not reviewed at the

step of the process time of the development process
4. How chosen methodologies related to PLC
<< SDLC methodology>> aligned to PLC
SDLC methodology is known as a framework that describes tasks performed at each
stage in the software development cycle. It is an arrangement followed by all improvement team
which are included in the software organization. It is actual the advance version of the product
life cycle and it carries the detail analysis of all the stages in product life cycle. It includes a
detailed plan describing how to develop, maintain and replace specific software (Rani, 2017).
SDLC includes activities like planning in which important part of the software is being
controlled by experience employees, then codes are being generated related to demand of
customers, then testing of bugs are being conducted and finally all the documents and
maintenance is approved for release.
The main difference between Product life cycle and SDLC is that PLC is that process
which is responsible for bringing new product in the market. It is fully focused only on product
execution, while SDLC is that process which is fully focused on the software development and
has nothing to do with the execution of product.

<< Waterfall methodology >> aligned to PLC
Waterfall methodology is a type of process which is also called as liner life cycle model. This
methodology follows a sequential order therefore project management team only move in
one direction to achieve their goals (Saxena, & Upadhyay, 2016). It is just like Product life
cycle which moves in one direction. It consists of all phase of product life cycle which makes
this methodology very simple to understand and use and in which the first phase completed
after that next phase can begin. Basically, this type of methodology is used for the small
project and where no uncertainty is required. At the end of each phase, a review process is
taking place to measure whether the project process is on the right way or not.
The main difference between the product life cycle and Waterfall methodology is that
product life cycle phases are not interchangeable while in waterfall methodology, phases can
be interchangeable as per the present situation.
