1.Project charter
1.1 The name of the project
The name of the project is “Implementation of data communication network and
hardware infrastructure”.
1.2 Background of the project
The paper mainly focuses on one of the local government organization that generally
employs more than 200 staffs for delivering the support to the young people in England. The
organization helps in providing the IT support for managing its operation that is generally
provided by a legacy or Unix based package that does not only holds information about the
various people in country but also about all the information about the staffs who generally work
there. Moreover, the organization hosted the Unix based package on proper central server which
is generally accessed from each location VT520 terminals or PCs by utilizing terminal emulation
software. The internet access is generally provided from the HQ site by utilizing the broad band
connection within the organization. Browser based access is generally tried properly within the
remote locations but the speed that is provided is very slow. In order to resolve the issue, the
organization wants to implement a data communication network as well as hardware
infrastructure that will be helpful in enabling the utilization of modern technology in order to
support the staffs and the young people for providing better support.
1.3 Goal of the new project
The paper mainly reflects on the implementation of data communication network as well
as hardware infrastructure that further helps in enabling the utilization of modern technology in
order to properly support the staffs as well as young people so that they can be able to get better

support. The data communication network and hardware infrastructure is mainly implemented in
order to resolve the problem that is mainly associated with improper IT infrastructure.
1.4 Objectives
The main objectives of the project are listed below:
 To implement data communication and hardware infrastructure
 To enable the utilization of modern technologies including IM, Web 2, knowledge
management and more
 To resolve the problems and issues that are associated with improper IT infrastructure

The scope of the project is reflected below:

1.8 Project methodology
It is found that PRINCE 2 project methodology will be selected for the project as the
project methodology generally helps in managing the uncertainties of the project quite
effectively. It is generally considered as one of the best practices that helps in making the project
much more flexible (Badewi 2016). The seven phases of PRINCE 2 that will be utilized in the
project will mainly include directing, starting, initiating, managing, controlling, managing
product delivery as well as closure of the project.
