3 PROJECT MANAGEMENT Particular personal traits or competencies According to, Chiu, Balkundi & Weinberg (2017) a Project Manager to be effective and competent needs to be a competent person who is able to bring together all the stakeholders of the project under one umbrella and then utilize them accordingly to manage the project in an efficient manner. Some of the common characteristic or traits of an efficient Project Manager are as follows; 1.The Project Managers inspire a shared vision-The Project Managers must have an effective vision of where to go to attain success and must have the proper vision to articulate it properly (DuBois et al. 2015). The leader of a project must have the quality to motivate the others to follow him in the right path and gives the vision to the others involved in the project to follow the path of change or transformation. 2.Project Managers must be a good communicator-Effective Communication is one of the most important skills that needs to be present among the Project Manager. The presence of effective communication skills with different kinds of people at all levels is one of the most important responsibilities of the organization. The project leadership calls for clear communication about responsibility, goals, performance and expectations and feedback. Therefore communication forms an essential part of leadership. 3.Project Managers must have integrity-One of the most important things different project managers must always keep in their mind is, it is their actions which speaks for themselves rather than their talk (Lounsbury et al. 2016). Therefore a good manager must have the quality to be honest and integrated in his actions to ensure the success of the project.
4 PROJECT MANAGEMENT 4.Project Managers must have leadership skills-The project managers must have the required leadership skill to deal with the teams coming from the different walks of life. The more the quality of a good leadership, the more is the chance for the project to be successful. Project that I am Aware of To name a successful project and project managers the name of Australian firm Savills strikes my mind at the very beginning. The following firm has the quality and the experience and thus is considered to be one of the topmost Project Management firms of the country. One of the recent housing projects completed by the firm was“Ryde Garden in New South Wales”.The Senior Project Manager made a meticulous and proactive approach in all the stages of the project in order to ensure its success. The design management, meetings with stakeholders, proper implementation of the budget, following the time schedule and effective communication skills of the manager helped the project to be completed according to the necessary objectives. Methods that can be used in project selection and their processes The selection of the project for the improvement of the skills and available resources is important for the organization and also requires a bit of important calculation on the part of the project management. Some of the important methods of selecting projects are as follows; a.Benefit measurement Methods-This includes Cost Benefit Ratio, Payback Period, Economic Model and many more as such.
