This project included details of project management and different tasks that can be performed in MS project for scheduling a project. From this project, the workflow schedule of the project for developing the SmartWatch based system is developed.

Project Title: Development of SmartWatch Based System

Project Justification:
The project that is undertaken is developing a SmartWatch Based System that will detect
the food that the taken by the user and the quantity of food that is undertaken by the user.
Using this system, the user will be able to know the quantity of calorie intake in their
body and will help to keep the user fit.
Major Deliverables:
The project will deliver the development process of the SmartWatch Based System and
by the end of the project, a SmartWatch system will be developed that will provide
support to the user who will use the SmartWatch. The project is divided in to different
phases that will help the developer to complete the project in the scheduled time and
budget.
Project Success Criteria:
The project will be successful because a proper project management methodology will be
used for completing the project. As the project is large, the fund will also be not an issue
for completing the project as the university grant scheme has decided to fund for this

project for 2 years.
Constraints and Assumptions:
The time frame for the project will be two years. The budget for the project will provided
by the University Grant Scheme.
For making the project plan, MS Project will be used.

Stakeholder Management Strategy:
Management of stakeholder is one of the important component for delivering a project
successfully. There are four different steps that are to be followed by a project while managing
the stakeholder:
 Identifying, recognizing, as well as acknowledging the stakeholder
 Determining the influence of stakeholder as well as interest in the project
 Establishing the plan of communication management

 Influencing as well as engaging the stakeholder
Stakeholders in the project includes people from the organization and people outside the
organization. There are internal stakeholder as well as external stakeholders. The people and the
organizations who gets affected by the project or the work are the stakeholder. They might have
the power to block the work or advance the work that is under process. Stakeholders can be
identified as customers, Key Stakeholders, and the organizational stakeholders.
Stakeholder prioritization is done in the form of matrix that grids the power and the
interest of the stakeholder involved in the project. Stakeholder engagement is also a part of
stakeholder management which includes communication, consulting, remembering, planning,
managing the risks, compromising, understanding the success, as well as taking responsibility.
Management of stakeholder helps to create a positive relationship among all the stakeholders in a
project through proper management of the expectation they have on the project and fulfilling the
objective of the project.

2. a. In a project that is managed trough project management, the critical path describes
the sequence of the project activities forming a network. The activities in a project adds all the
longest duration in the overall duration irrespective of the fact whether the duration has a float or
not. Critical path determines the shortest time that is possible to complete the whole project.
b. The tasks that are not involved in the critical tasks in the .mpp file are:
i) Search Library Database for relevant Material
ii) Assess the credibility of the each source
c) The slack time of “Search Library Database for relevant Material” is 0 and is an
independent activity. It does not have any successor or predecessor. It stand alone and is not
included in the project completion.

The slack time of “Assess the credibility of the each source” 3. Slack time is Late start –
Early start. LS of the activity is 5 and ES of the activity is 2. So, the slack comes as 3.
The slack time of an activity can be defined as the total time that a task gets delayed
without delaying other tasks and does not impact the project completion. The slack time of the
activities in a critical path is always zero.
3. From the Early start, early finish and late start and late finish, the time available for
each task can be understood. The slack time shows the time delay for each of the task and there
are only two activities that have slack time. Those activities are not considered in the critical path
of the project.
4. The network diagram basically gives a visual representation of the project schedule.
The network diagram is mainly helpful to plan a project or tack a project. From the network
diagram, the workflow documenting can be understood and helps in identifying the order in
which the project will be carried. It helps to analyse the activities and identifies relationships in
between the activities.
6. Tutorial 6 Activity 2
1. Cause Effect Diagram- The cause and effect Diagram is useful in project
management for identifying, sorting as well as displaying the causes that are possible for specific
problem as well as quality characteristics.
Flowcharts- Flow chart helps a project to show the objective of a project graphically and
helps to seek activities that are more logical. This helps to monitor the progress of the project and
reporting the status of the project.

Scatter diagrams- With the scatter diagram, the project manager can analyse the
relationship between the variables in a project. This helps to determine the effect of some
particular root cause.
2. a. Tool used:
The Cause effect diagram is used in a project to identify the possible causes in a project
for a particular problem. It is used in a project when thinking of a team falls in to the ruts.
The flowchart is a tools used in a project to control the activities in a project. The
flowchart can be created with the help of Project management tool.
Scatter diagram has scattered plots, correlation chart as well as scatter graphs. The scatter
diagram mainly has two variable, one is dependent variable and the other is independent
variable.
b. Use in project management-
In a project management, the cause and effect Diagram is used for identifying, sorting as
well as displaying the causes that are possible for specific problem as well as quality
characteristics.
In a project management, the Flow chart helps to show the objective of a project

3. The projected date for submitting the final report is 29th April, 2016. Submission of the
project takes one day. So, it will be completed in 29th April 2016 only.
6. Taking an extra 1 day to complete the “Search Google Scholar for relevant” will
increase the project completion time. The duration of the project will increase.
7. Yes, it will not affect the project completion time. As other tasks are dependent on this
particular task, the final submission date will also increase.
9. No it will not affect the project submission data as because this task does not comes
under critical path and will not affect the project.
10. After changing the task to 30% complete, the task progress is shown in the dark line
in the bar of the Gantt chart. It shows that 30 % of the work is already completed.

15. Yes, Early start impacts the project completion because if the project starts late, it will
be delayed. So, project completion time depends on the early start of a project.

1. Introduction
This project included details of project management and different tasks that can be
performed in MS project for scheduling a project.
2. Achievement of scope and time constraints
From this project, the workflow schedule of the project for developing the SmartWatch
based system is developed.
3. All the portfolio activities in the project went right.
4. Only the tracking activities in the MS project was a bit difficult.
5. Developed a project schedule can be learnt from this project and different tasks that
can be performed using the MS project can also be learnt from this project. The early start, early

finish, late start and late finish of a task can be determined from the project. This project helps to
generate the network diagram of a project and critical task of a project.
