1 PROJECT MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES Question Explain how quality control measures on projects can reduce the number of defects and inefficiencies along with improving project process, outputs and objectives? Answer With the implementation of the quality control measures in the project development methodology the errors in the project can be eliminated and it can help in improvement of the efficiency of the project. The project manager is responsible to develop the project and implement necessary steps for the elimination of the errors in the different steps involved in the project development process. For improvising the quality of the project different project development methodologies can be applied and the progress of the project should be monitored. The errors identified during the advancement of the phases of the project development should be mitigated immediately such that the quality of the project is not hampered and a quality project solution is delivered to the client. Achievement of scope of the project – The goals of objectives of the project must be defined and the requirement of the project should be clear to the development team for the preparationoftheplanningoftheproject.Thestakeholderscanbeinvolvedinthe requirement analysis phase for estimating the resource, time and budget of the project. The roles and responsibility should be assigned to each of the team member involved in the project development process for increasing the stability and reliability of the project. Customer Satisfaction – The application of the quality control helps in improvement of the level of satisfaction of the customer. The project should be developed such that it can serve the customer to fulfil their needs and attain the goals of the business. The current output of the project should be compared with the desired output for analysing the quality of the project and implementation of the modification that can be applied for getting the desired outcome.
2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES Best practice and process improving – The new technology and measures that can be implemented for the improvement of the project and enhancing the consistency of the project should be analysed. The quality control is also important for the accomplishment of the different activities such as reducing the cost of the project, getting the maximum throughput from the project ad removal of the constraint faced during the development of the project. Enhancement of production – Different tools and techniques that can be included is identified and proper training is provided to the user for getting the best output from the project and aligning it to the current requirement of the user. The measures of quality control helps to improve the productivity and thus returning more benefit to the client. resource should be allocated for each of the activity for Reduces reworks – The measures of quality control helps in removal of the errors from the starting phases of the development of the project and thus reduces the chances of reworks during the final build of the project. The needs of the customer should be identified and less assumption should be used for the development such that it is approved by the client on the first go. Enhancementoftheinternalcommunication– Thecommunicationbetweentheteam members involved in the development process of the project should not be hindered. Any barrier in the communication should be eliminated such that each of the team member is informed about the current progress of the project or changes that needs to be adopted in the project. Question Compareandcontrastanytwodifferentprojecttime(schedule) managementtechniques/tools that enableprojects to be plannedand managed throughout the lifecycle. Answer
3 PROJECT MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES Schedule network analysis and the gantt chart is selected as a project management tool for the demonstration of the activities of the project identified for the development of the project. The gantt chart is a horizontal bar graph representing the timeline of the project. The activities involved in the project schedule is represented using the bars and the timeline for the completion of each of the activity is represented by the length of the bar. The interdependency of each of the activity can be found from the gantt chart because arrows are used for connecting the bars and the information such as start time, start to finish time, finish to start time and finish time is added with each of the activity. The bars are the in represented in the sequential manner demonstrates the process that are running in parallel and it is independent from the above process. The parallel activity consumes less time for the development. There are different project man agent tools that can be used for the creation of the gantt chart with visually attractive representation. The starting of the bar is from the expected timeline and it end after the time span of the completion of the activity. A comparison can be made between the actual and the planned schedule for increasing the efficiency of the project. The network analysis schedule is created that is used for the graphical representation of the project schedule and created for the accomplishment of the project objectives and goals during the project management lifecycle. The project schedule network is demonstrated in a single page from left to right and arrows are used for interconnecting the activity and creating logical relationship for the demonstration of the working elements. The network schedule is demonstrated in chronological order which starts from the initial stage of the project management to the final stage of project closure consisting of all the intermediate activities involved for the development of the project. The critical path of the project can be found form the schedule network analysis also known as network diagram. The critical path is used for the calculation of the minimum time which is required for the completion of the project. The network diagram is used for the representation of the activity and interconnecting it with each other for the determination of the current progress and identification of the dependency of the activity. It helps in figuring out the activity that are affected if any changes are to be made in the middle of the project during the development of the project.
