Planning and Control of Quality
Making sure of the fact that a quality project is being delivered helps in making sure
of the fact the clients are being happy with the product that is delivered at the end of the
project (Walker 2015). For the construction projects the quality control plan is associated
with looking into specific areas of the project which might be responsible for affecting the
quality and followed by this the plan is associated with outlining the way by which these
areas can be controlled. These areas might be including the personnel, subcontractors,
materials and procedures however they are not limited to only these areas (Lock 2016). One
such example is that the lack of inspection procedures might eb associated with leading to
serious quality issues in the project. So, the implementation of quality control plan by having
specified inspection procedures would be associated with making sure that the quality issues
are not occurring.
Based on the project and what the client is looking for the quality plan is to be crafted
and before making the final plan it is to made sure that everything is being discussed with the
client in a proper way so as to have a mutual understanding with the client. This would be
helping in making sure that the plan is successful (Sears et al. 2015). Before the plan is put
together it is essential to know about the construction industry quality standard which needs
to eb reviewed and which building codes are to be applied to the project.
Human resources:
Human resources generally refer to the organizational functions which is associated
with dealing with the peoples as well as the issues which are related to the people. Like other
projects the construction project also requires human resource management and this includes
the management of the people in specific areas. The role played by the human resources in a

construction project is considered to be huge (Grover and Froese 2016). The human resources
generally refer to the function which deals with the people who are in charge of the project.
The construction project generally requires a group of people who would be organized into a
team and they would be having an aim of achieving specific goals in accordance to demands
of the clients. So, from here the human resource management can be linked with the project
team (Hughes, Champion and Murdoch 2015). The construction project would be evaluated
by considering its success. Thus, it can be concluded that the Human resource management in
the project management has to play a fundamental as well as strategic role in the success of
the project.
The role that is played by human resources in a project management can be
distinguished into several layers and this layers generally varies from three to six. Four of the
major roles played by the human resource in the project management includes the Planning of
the Human resource (Demirkesen and Ozorhon 2017). Whereas according to other studies
there exist six key practices which are linked with the human resource management activities
and the two more activities which were identified included the Mobilization and the Culture
Integration. The three most important processes which exists within the role of human
resources in the process of managing the project have been discussed below and this includes
the selection, managing and lastly training (Burtonshaw-Gunn 2017). This are three most
important practices which are associated with enabling eth process of analyzing the major
challenges that are faced by the human resource managers whenever they are involved in the
project management.
Firstly the selection process, this generally refers to the process of choosing the right
people who are going to take part in the project team. The selection of the appropriate project
team acts as the base of the project (Turner 2017). Selection of the people generally refers to
the selection of the appropriate project tea, in accordance to the skills that are required for the

construction project. There exist several tools which are dedicated towards this process. The
key issue of this process includes the process of the selection and what are the skills that are
needed.
Secondly come the training of the people who would working in the team and this is
another layer of the human resource management role. Training is generally the manner of a
HR manager who would be responsible for the development of the competencies that are
required by a team (Halpin, Lucko and Senior 2017). This is one of the key process as this is
associated with playing a direct role in the added value of the construction project. This is
also considered to be the starting point of the strategic competitiveness; however, the key
issues are always to be considered in this process.
Thirdly comes the concept of managing the team. This includes the ways by which
the team is to be organized and evaluation of the performance. Managing the team is
generally considered to be best way of motivating the people so as to achieve the goals (Mok,
Shen and Yang 2015). This also includes the methods which are used for the purpose of
achieving success in a project.
Procurement process:
Procurement process generally refers to the method which is generally used for the
purpose of purchasing of the goods or eth services. Procurement process must be managed in
a careful way so as to make sure that good value is obtained along with making sure that
correct goods or services are purchased, receiving of a high-level quality and many more
(Cannon and Hillebrandt 2016). The procurement strategy is to be established during the
outset which acts a key to successful outcome.

selecting the main contractor who would be associated with running the construction work

The procurement stages is generally classified into different stages and they’re
generally provided with different names. This stages can be repeated number of times in
different stages of the project whenever a different supplier is procured (Kerzner and Kerzner
2017). The procurement stages have been listed below:
Assessing the need for the procurement:
At first instance this is very important to become sure about the need for a project.
This might be including the preparation of a statement of need which is followed by

developing this into a business case by means of discussion with all the stakeholders involved
(Mhetre, Konnur and Landage, 2016).
Besides this the process would also be seeking for the establishment of the project
objectives along with the defining of the initial budget and many more.
Assessing options:

options. In the construction project this might be including the process of developing the
strategic brief, the studies related to the feasibility and the options related to the appraisals.
Besides this the step might also be including the development of the project execution
plan which is associated with setting out the strategy for managing the project along with

Defining the solutions:

Development of the procurement route:
The best procurement route is to be selected which would be best suited for the needs
of eth project along with being best for the balancing time, the cost and quality. Based upon
the route schedule the responsibilities related project delivery and risk lies differently in
accordance to the routes which has been selected (Rozali 2015). Besides this the construction

Implementation of the strategy:
This generally refers to the process in which the procurement is arranged by itself and
this is generally termed as the tender process and this would be involving the following
things.

 Providing of invitation for the purpose of providing the tender
 This is followed by the submission of the tender
 Once the tender is submitted the entire tender is to be assessed
 After assessment is the process of settling the tender
 Lastly come the Engrossment along with the execution of the contract.
Project delivery:
This would be including the following things:
 By having the suppliers put in place, the process related to managing the projects and
contract related to the administration is to be placed in place so as to make sure that the
requirements that generally have been highlighted by the contract are being met in a
proper way.
 This in turn would be associated with allowing the differences existing it to be instructed
along with making sure of the fund retention unless and until the entire contract gets
completed and lastly the damages for failures to perform (Nicholas and Steyn 2017).

A post project review is to be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the process of
project delivery and for making sure that the lessons which are learned are being captured so
as to make the stakeholders earn benefits (Ogunde et al. 2017).
Assessing the performance in use for the purpose of determining the rate of success of

improvements.
Managing Communications and stakeholders
A project is considered to be successful only if it attains the objectives and is
associated with meeting or exceeding the stakeholder’s expectations. The stakeholders

about or having a vested interest upon the project (Kerzner 2018). For the construction
project the communication acts as the most important and crucial aspect of the constant
activities and also for the accomplishment of the goals and is associated with targeting the

need of good background along with expertise platform, life experiences and brain-storming.
For managing the communication there is always a need of settling the manners and measures

means the benefits that are brought to the clients, the contractors, the suppliers and all other
parties who are involved in the project as well as the community and the society where the

managing the entire process of communication should be deployed as well as mobilized
across all he phases of the project so as to achieve productivity in each and every stage of the
construction project. The communication that is to be conducted between the stakeholders in
each phase have been listed below:
Planning stage:
 Understanding the intension that the clients are having along with the purpose and
functions of the project.
 Through discussion is needed along with consulting with the clients for having a common
understanding.
 Collection of the assistance from the expert mainly regarding each or particular
disciplines related to the project which is to be constructed so as to reach the estimation
which would be best regarding the techniques, technology, cost and the schedule (Walker
2016).

Design Stage:

Construction stage

over and taking over the project.
