2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT Task 1: Project status report 1.1Performance measurement Within the present situation, it is identified that the present project is 70% complete and the total cost that is mainly utilized for completing the work of the project will be around 90%. It is the responsibility of the project manager to handle the entire situation by focussing on the key performance indicators [9]. The performance indicators are considered as the indicators of progress towards an intended outcome of the project. They are also utilized for tracking the project in order to make sure that the entire project is on track and it will get completed within the time and budget that is estimated. The cost performance indicators are generally considered as the measure for the financial effectiveness as well as efficiency of the entire project. It is identified that it generally helps in representing the amount of the work that is generally completed for each of the project unit [12].Moreover the cost performance indicators helps in analyzing the efficiency of the cost that is generally used by the entire project as it generally helps in measuring the entire value of the work that is generally completed in comparison to the actual cost that is generally spent on the project. On the other hand, time is also considered as one of the performance indicator that further helps in analyzing the efficiency of the time that is mainly utilized by the entire project as it mainly assists in measuring the entire work that is mainly completed [13]. If the entire project gets completed within the assumed time then it can be analyzed that the project objectives are generally met and it also helps in reflecting that the entire project is towards success.
3 PROJECT MANAGEMENT It is found that both the times as well as costs are generally considered as the performance indicators that generally help in measuring the success of the project. It is found that if the entire project gets finished successfully within the assumed budget and time then it can be analyzed that the project is successful however, if the project does not get completed within the time and budget that is assumed that the project is not towards success [10]. 8 PROJECT MANAGEMENT Task 2: Project management plan 2.1 Quality management plan It is found that as per the present situation, it is analyzed that the client is not satisfied with the quality of the output and have asked that the tasks cannot be progressed until the quality of the project milestone is improved. As a project manager, it is the responsibility to handle the situation successfully by properly focussing on the quality management plan so that the entire quality of the project generally gets improved [1]. Project quality generally helps in encompassing the various processes as well as activities that are generally utilized for properly figuring out the entire project successfully for achieving the quality of the project deliverables. Quality is generally what the customers or clients need from the project and the main objective of the project is to satisfy the clients by meeting their demands. It is found that as the customers are not happy with the output of the milestone then the project is considered with no quality. It is found that even if the project deliverables helps in meeting all the different aspects of the customers quite successfully, the stakeholders of the project need to meet the quality of the project for satisfying the clients [3]. In the situation when the client is not happy with the output of the project at a specific milestone then in that situation, the project manager needs to cross-check the quality of the project or ensuring the issues due to which the client used to stop the work at a specific milestone. Secondly, the project manager must review all the requirements of the clients properly for making sure that the project will achieve all the requirements as well as demands of the client and they then they implement proper quality management plan [2]. In the quality management pan, the project manager must properly define as well as codifies the various standards that the project needs to follow in order to meet the goals as well as project objectives. Task 4: Reflection While engaging within the project of e-toll implementation in the Hyderabad ring road, I have gained knowledge as well as information about different aspect of the project. The skills and knowledge that I have gained by engaging with the project will be helpful for my future as the knowledge will guide me to undertake the future project successfully. I have gained knowledge in different aspects of PM including the cost, time as well as the quality of the project. The information that I have gained will be used by me in my future projects so that the projects can be handled easily without creating any type of challenges. The feedback that I have received from my previous assignment is mainly used by me in improving the things that I lack. As per the feedback, I need to improve root cause analysis, development of project chart as well as fundamental knowledge experience. In order to improve my knowledge in all those aspects that are stated in the feedback, I indulge myself more in the project management related learning and have tried my best to improve my skills. The feedback that I have received is guiding me so that I will not do same type of mistakes in my future projects and my future projects will get completed successfully. The learning that I have gained from this unit by involving in the project as group will be helpful for my future. I have gained knowledge related with project management, performance management, quality management as well as communication management. In addition to his, I have got to know the roles that a project manager need to play in order to handle different types of scenarios within the project. Moreover, I have learnt the practical implementation of the projects and have got to know the importance of crashing as well as split task.
14 PROJECT MANAGEMENT The two guest’s lecturers guided me and reflected how the theory concepts of project management are related with the professional practice. From their guidance I have learnt how to utilize the MS project software and have learnt to create schedule as well as budget for successfully managing the project. Additionally, I have learnt the step for split tasks as well as for undertaking crashing, calculating performances indices. All the practical knowledge that I have gained will be helpful for my career as I can be able to use those concepts while dealing with the projects successfully. I need to learn about the steps that are used for managing the projects successfully. I also want to develop my decision making skills so that I can make proper decisions instantly while dealing with the projects in order to manage complex situations. However, it is found that in order to bridge them, it is very much necessary to engage with the practical projects. Engagingwithintheprojectwillgenerallyprovidemeproperknowledgeaswellas information so that I can be able to improve my management as well as decision making skills that will bring a number of benefits to me when I will deal with the propjets.
