Introduction
A project manager has the immense job to assemble, arrange and then implement all the
different things in the project. Being a project manager thus involves lot of precision. In this
particular assignment the project manager is tasked with the responsibility of arranging a one day
sports tournament for SPL technology limited. The management of the organization wants a
proper planning and organization for the following event so that the one day tournament is a
success amongst the employees and also the upper management of the company. After a series of
meetings involving the management and the project manager and also some of the employees,
football was chosen as a final selection amongst four other outdoor games. A nearby football
ground of a reputed college team was chosen as the venue.
It was decided that the tournament will be played on one of the Fridays so that the
employees can get enough rest before the resumption of office from Monday. The date has been
fixed on 31st of August which is on Friday. A total of 6 different teams from 8 different
departments of the company enlisted themselves to participate in the match. The total time limit
for each of the match was set 15 minutes. The matches will kick off from 8 AM in the morning.
The Project manager will arrange the field along with the rest rooms and a makeshift sitting
arrangement for the CEO and the senior managers. Before the start of the match the CEO and the
Managing Director will be delivering a short speech. All the other arrangements including the
lunch, drinks and snacks will be provided by the management of the college ground. The project
manager has also the task of arranging different jerseys and balls for each of the teams.

Work Breakdown Structures
The tournament that will be organized by SPL technology limited will consist of a
number of different activities. In order to break the following task into small categories, a
number of simpler works has to be completed accordingly. The planning becomes the first
priority followed by the preparation of the time schedule and the preparation and the assessment
of the budget. According to, Turner (2014) the budget will always be prepared according to the
needs and demands of the different types of the required items and the other arrangements like
the rent of the field, arrangement of a podium, electricity expense, expenses related to food and
beverage and many more as such. After this there are costs of employing referees, appointing a
doctor, ensuring the presence of an Ambulance and the cost of the trophies. The teams are then
enlisted with the number of players in each of them. A proper coordination must be maintained
overall to ensure that the project does not face any kind of problems in midst of the tournament
and also ensuring the successful arrangement which will force the management of the mentioned
organization to give it a serious thinking of making the tournament an annual event.

project. The cost estimation for the following project is provided below;
Cost of each football- $40
8 balls total cost= $320
Rent of the ground for 10 hours- $50

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Labor charge of the technicians- 10$ per person
Four technicians wage = 40$
Total Employees= 150
Total Number of Players= 60
With an estimate that all the employees along with the players will join the event, the
Project manager has to arrange food and beverages for each and everyone. A total packet of
lunch, two drinks and beverages will involve around $60 each. Thus for a total amount that needs
to be spend for a total of 210 persons involves around 210*60= $12600. Apart from this there
are many other kinds of miscellaneous costs of around $1000.
