PROJECT MANAGEMENT2
1. Introduction
The contextual analysis is focused on building of large complex in regional
Queensland. The stonemasons involved in the contract quoted lower prices which was around
50% cheaper as compared to other competitor’s tenders. The scheduled time to finish the
work is in six months. The Union advised that foreign stonemasons were living into the
shipping containers on construction site while they were working seven days in one week.
They were supposed to work five days in a week. In the group interview, men admitted that
they received $45 per month with $100 per week send to overseas families. This case was
taken to court, while it was revealed that there are various levels of the sub-contracting for
stonemasons (Huemann, 2016). The final result of court case was negotiated settlement with
back pay for four months of the underpayment at Australian wage.
The main aim of this study is analysing the knowledge areas with scope, risk as well
as cost elements.
The scope management is focused on work of the project plan. All development
processes are involved with the construction project work and it is needed to finish work
found in this knowledge area. The cost management is established estimation of project cost
as well as resources to ensure that the project can stay in approved cost (Nguyen &
Mohamed, 2018). As risk management knowledge area implied, the process is concerned to
identify and plan potential development risks that have negative impact on project
achievement.
2. Problem Description
i. The price which was saved by cheapest tenderer was lost due to causes of
court case as well as delays into the construction work. At cheapest price of
50%, the company made profits due to high exploitative situations.
